1st Group Stage - Day 5

What makes you think that you had play in the bronze medal game you'd won... the refs?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

[/quote]

Why not , we were the hosts.

Seriously , we were in a better form at that tournament than lithuania. And to write a bronze medal is easier than to write being the fourth.

We can't talk with "if", the thing is that the entire world saw that you didn't deserve to be in the final. You have to accept that.

Let's say I that believe you, my point is what "stane" said. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

I think you are not talking about the game between Turkey-Greece last year ? Do you think there was something wrong with that game ? I am really objective and I may be missing some points, please tell...

and I also remember the game in 2009. In that game before overtime ı think for the last minute there were some critical decisions of the referee on Greek side. We were leading by 2 or 3 points at that time...

so I think every teams have each advantages and disadvantages of the referees decisions. If you try to find out you can find it...

Vakasimo,

they have an answer to all the questions however, so don't force...

They still try to put Turkey outside of these teams ... But they don't try to think that TURKEY is not a weak team anymore..Turkey had done great things for the last 10 years.. Those teams are really great force SPAIN, SERBIA and etc.. Maybe Turkey is still have some problems with the constancy, but anyway they are gonna be like Spain , Serbia and Greece in a quite near future.

For example what do you think about the great power ITALY ??? When you hear its name you can say "oooohhh woww Italy, a great power..." Right ?

What do you think about TURKEY then ? When you hear its name you say " well well well, so so, its ok..." Right ?

But the truth is TURKEY is better than ITALY for the kast 5-6 years...

so ıs Turkey a bad team ? or a weak team ?

What I know is, right now Turkey is a team that no one knows what they do...One day if they are in a mood, they can beat any of the teams like SERBIA, SPAIN nad GREECE... You can't know...

so we will see if we are gonna be in a good mood tomorrow against FRANCE? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I agree, that is my point also , the struggle to exclude Turkey out of top european teams. As a school yes we are not at that league , but why is it so hard to accept that this genration plays as one of the best. The ref question is a part of this view. It exceeds the ref criticisize , it becomes (and meant to be ) an excuse for what Turkey is doing right now. So for all who reads this it is what turks are thinking , if we are wrong we would be glad, but unfortunately we're right.

I agree, thing is we played bad against poland. But I believe we played well at 2010 overall, we won 7-8 matches against teams like Greece, Russia, France, Slovenia , it is unfair to erase all of them for one match. Or since 2006 this list can be extended to Lithuania , Serbia, Spain, Brazil , Australia. Serbia match in 2010 became an artillery installation for people don't want to admire our team. Yes we won by the refs that night but we reach quarter or semifinals generally in tournaments and we never allege that we are a basketball country. But a little appreciation would be nice, am I wrong or what ?

In total , it is a dirty part of this game that home court teams are being supported by the refs. I don't know how to end this behaviour.

Very well written. I agree that the emergence of Turkish basketball success has taken Europe by surprise. So many discount Turkish quality because they have a short history. Not being European and looking from the outside I see this Turkish team as extremely athletic, skillful creative and deep. They lack overall maturity that comes from experience. Some of the team strategy and tactics are lacking in crucial situations. Still the Turkish team is a quality squad no denying that.

...About 2010 Serbia and Turkish squad were about even in ability. I'd say Serbia was the better team by a small margin. IMHO 2010 WC 1.USA 2.Lietuva 3.Serbia 3a.Turkey..This is all just my opinion....

And aboout second round.

I believe we can defeat France , we're better against athletic teams than shhoter teams and we can overhelm Noah I guess.

Germany match is up to Nowitzky and Spain - Germany match , I believe we're better than them but the mood will be a huge factor.

Serbians are my favourite , they shoot very well and we are weak at three pointer defence. And they really want to avenge us .

A 3-2 record could get us through against Slovenia or Greece which we can defeat (and get defeated as well)

Exciting isn't it ???

Thanks for approval.

Yes we play critical moments in a silly way. Last shoot of Tunceri was a wrong choice even it would ended with 3 points. Actually our players love to challenge and fight in the game but in their soul they are a bit afraid of their opponents (especially the older players) , if we can keep up the good work for another decade , I believe turkey can reach greece status. (Never serbians though , they are not human they are machines)

I think Turkey can be golden before 10 years. Although in 10 years my wish is Turkey will be a basketball nation.:-D Turkey has the physical ability all they need is confidence and superior strategy. I honestly think Turkey is the second most athletic team in Eurobasket. 1.Spain 2.Turkey 2A. France. From a foreign Fan perspective I would like to see Turkey use their athleticism better. On defense rotate between man to man and zone better. Those long turkish arms in the passing lanes would F*** other teams up! On offense pound the ball inside to Asik more. Play Kanter at the 4 spot and Illysova at the 3 spot some series. Tell them to attack attack attack the basket!

Turkey needs to be a bully on the block!I don't mean be arrogant I'm just saying they could have pushed a team like Poland around in the front court. Turkey can play athletic defense like France and Spain. They can also can play inside offense like France. Did you see the France interior game against Serbia?? Noah, Seraphin posting up with Batum slashing and dishing. Turkey has the ability to do this with Asik, Kanter and Illysova....

France vs Turkey: The question(s) with this match up is

1.Can Turkey guards match the play of Tony Parker and Nikolas Batum.

2.Will Turkey coach trust his front court "completely" let them attack the rim relentlessly.

3. can either team stay out of foul trouble?

Turkey vs Germany should be easier win. Turkey by 10pts.

Serbia vs Turkey: Turkey has the physical advantage. Serbia has the tactics and passion. Hopefully Turkey coaches are looking at the France game for Serbian weaknesses. Its obvious Serbia has weak interior defense. All Turkey has to do is pound the ball inside and shoot from outside well. Easier said than done because Serbia is strong.

By the way, in 2009 our win was 101% fair, no bullshit...

Spain VS Serbia (Spain wants revenge for last summer!)

Serbia VS Turkey (here, Serbia is the team that wants the revenge for last summer!!)

...these games will be very interesting but in my opinion, every single game in Group E will be something to remember!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have the same taste my friend! Group E is going to be the best basketball played in the world!

Looking at the other group I noticed FYROM has the chance to beat everyone but Russia. FYROM they play Georgia, SLO, Finland, Russia. I am NOT making a prediction BUT FYROM can get 3 wins here...

No, they don't play Finland.

I think that was it for FYROM. No more low level teams.

FYROM don't stand a chance against Russia and Slovenia but they may win Georgia.

In the first round they used Ilievski for 38 minutes per game and Pero Antic for 35 minutes. They are humans not machines.

I am waiting for this game too! I think Serbs will beat them by +5. Serbia has great tactics. Even better than Lietuva. Only one problem is Serbian interior defense. Jonas V and the Shark could go crazy. With home court I say 51/49.

Why do you think Srbija will lose?

On the one hand we have Petravicius' loss for Lithuania but in the other hand that may mean that Valanciunas will take more minutes.

That may be bad news for Serbia...

Jonas Valanciunas is young and not afraid. He will attack. So yeah that could be bad for Srbija. It's really hard to choose......
