Damn, Russia won the match with a last second 3 from Monia!!!!! They were actually behind one point!!! 63-61 final score <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />

Man, I'm extremely mad.

If FYROM won we would play with them for a spot in pre-Olympic tournament, in case we lose to France...

France does not underestimate Greece, not at all. They want their revenge from 2005 and trust me they will play at 100%.

by the way you have a short memory, do you remember the eurobasket 2009? Greece tanked its game against France in fear of meeting Spain in the quarterfinals whereas France played fair and square. as a result they lost against spain and finished 5th while they had the skills to earn a medal.

Furthermore, i don't think you have anything to say about the attitude of a team in this tournament. After all Greece staff tried to buy the referees.

[/quote]

Listen carefully. I'm not interested in 2007 or 2009 or any other year, apart from the 15th of September at 18:00 in Lithuania, against YOUR team France. The past is meaningless to me and gone forever.

Your coach 'CHOSE' to play Hellas and not Slovenia by resting players. Well that's a joke, because he has 4 days to rest them before the QF. So basically you completely embarrassed yourselves by getting hammered from Spain to play Hellas!! Why? I'll tell you why. Because you saw our inexperienced 'B' team, and thought to take the easy way out.

I hope you won't start crying if Hellas wins, because I really don't care if we lose. This is our team, it's a 'B' team, and I can't expect more than a top 8. Anything above a QF is a bonus for Hellas and NOT a success at this point in time. This is my opinion, and don't forget we've had a basketball culture way longer than France.

Good luck with your mediocre NBA'ers dude. You're the hot favorites, so why are you worried for!! I think France is better at Soccer and Rugby though, basketball really isn't your game. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Actually this is our 'A' team playing, our previous A team members have gone bye-bye for good, with the exception of Sofo. Our team is very young and inexperienced but already have gained massive experience from this tournament which will be only good for them for upcoming competitions <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

As said before, our real aim is qualifying for the Olympics and NOT a medal. Anything else is extra, but of course would be warmly welcomed <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

No man. Only Diamantidis and Tsartsaris have gone for good. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

That's definitely our 'B' team with some players from the 'A' team!

There are many important players we are missing right now that have not quit the NT!

These are: Spanoulis, Sofo, Mavrokefalidis(who knows?!!), Perperoglou, Vasilopoulos(hopefully his bad luck ends here!) and Vougioukas!

Well imagine them plus Fotsis, Bourousis, Zisis, Calathes, Vasileiadis and Koufos!!!

That's our 'A' team!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

First of all, i don't think France had a chance against Spain even if they played with Tony Parker and Noah so there were no reasons for them to risk an injury and get even more tired to obtain the same result as sunday.

then, France isn't the heavy favorite, as you said you've developped along the years a great basketball tradition and as a result a sort of confidence that allows you to beat certain teams that may seem stronger on the paper. It will be a very difficult game for both teams on sunday and no one is assured to win.

And from what i've seen, i find Serbia or Russia stronger than Lithuania, even at home. so in no way is the second place of groupe E better than the first place.

And i wouldn't say Tony Parker is a mediocre nba player, 3 times all star, 3 times nba champion and one final mvp is pretty good <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Indeed, Parker is an NBA star!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

Parker is a great player, at our match he tokk the initiative only fıor 2 times and it was enough. Respect. Bu t as a team france is still missing a powerful paint, Noah is not enough maybe with Turiaf things becomes better. That is why Spain is the favourites, very tall and good players inside and killer shooters behind the arc.

except for Noah and maybe Batum in a few years i agree they're not excellent nba players <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

It will be tough for any team to beat Spain, although i'd like to be wrong. they're just too strong in the paint and Navarro is such a threat outside that i don't see how they could be stopped.

The truth is we can only speculate and say what we WANT, not what will necessarily happen; we don't know at the end of the day. Tsartsaris is too old for the team and isn't fast enough. I have a reservation that DD would love to play in the Olympics again and may reconsider.

Mavrokefalidis has definitely burnt his boats after twice not coming after being invited to attend NT training. People are pretty pissed with his asshole wheelings and dealings. True, I forgot about Spanoulis, he'll be back once healthy together with Sofo. I guess Perperoglou could offer some quality minutes, but his consistency may be a bit of an issue. We can forget about Vasilopoulos, he's ready to give up basketball altogether, he's too injury-prone. Vougioukas is either just a piece of meat or doesn't give a shit/is a primadonna (don't see upon what grounds, but anyway) to play for the Hellas NT.

In my books, anyone who tries to pull fast ones on the NT, shouldn't get called again. Playing for the Hellas NT is a privilege and not a right, abusers of this can just piss off.

Even if he decide to play in the Olympics(if we qualify) some ass*** that don't care about the NT and generally basketball-even the ones who care about basketball-who will be OLY fans(most of them) will start a war against Diamantidis, saying that is unfair for the other players that fought for it and bla bla bla... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Don't you think?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

I don't care though, I'm just saying...

No Greek club is above the Hellas NT quite simply. If anyone has leeway to be acting like a primadonna, it's Diamandidis and Papaloukas, but they've proved that that's not their attitude. If we play in the Olympics and are truly aiming for a medal then Diamandids playing on the squad is a must, together with Spanoulis and Sofo, I'm sure Papaloukas can even give quality minutes when and where experienced is most required.
