Apaprently Big Sofo and Greek Basketball Federation have made peace and if everything goes OK by next summer, he will be called again.

Same does not apply to Mavrokefalides.

I think that by the time we add Spanoulis, Perperoglou and Schortsianitis we'll have no problem qualifying for the Olympics!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If we add Diamantidis(who knows, maybe he reconsiders!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> ) too, then we will have great chances of winning an Olympic medal!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Now, about the Greek roster, of course it's too early to talk about it because you have too see what Greek players will do in the upcoming season, although I would like to post the best possibe team(in my opinion) that he can have in 2012!

GUARDS

Dimitris Diamantidis <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Yes' /> (if not him, then Vasileiadis!)

Vasilis Spanoulis

Nikos Zisis

Nick Calathes

FORWARDS

Antonis Fotsis

Kostas Kaimakoglou(of course Mavrokefalidis would be a better option but he will probably never play for the NT. Tsartsaris would be a greater option too, even in such age <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Yes' /> !!!)

Stratos Perperoglou

Panagiotis Vasilopoulos(if he still doesn't play basketball I would say Pat Calathes or Mike Bramos should fill his gap!)

Kostas Papanikolaou(he's the future small forward of Greece, so he must be in the NT from now on. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

CENTERS

Giannis Bourousis

Sofoklis Schortsianitis

Kostas Koufos

*If someone of them doesn't be able to play(injury etc.) Ian Vougioukas should be the substitute!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Maybe I misunderstood but I am of the impression that both Spanoulis and Diamantidis retired from the National Team. Am I mistaken or are you simply hoping that they come out of retirement for the Olympics now that Greece has at least made the qualification tournament?

No, Spanoulis didn't retired!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

He was injured and that's why he didn't play this year with the NT!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Look, our team will qualify no matter what the circmstances, conditions, or opponents are before us.

Theo, you included Sofo, but why should he be invited to this tournament? When he abandoned them during training? He had a girlfriend problem? Well he should've informed the Basketball Federation pre-invitation at training camp. You just DON'T walk out on your team-mates. I don't buy it. I'm not sure I approve, due to his poor attitude and timing. A public apology to all basketball fans is a necessity and requisite!!!

Diamantidis is 'RETIRED' so he 'WON'T' be playing for Hellas.

Mavrokefalidis or MR. Excuse, has 'NO' business being in the NT, he has 'NO' desire inclination or inspiration to be included. 'NOT WANTED.' I couldn't give a shit how good he is.

Spanoulis will be there one hundred percent. He wants and desires to play for Hellas. A true patriot that gives 110%.

The rest of the capable players, I have no problem with, bar Tsartaris, who's getting on a little in years.. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

^^^About Sofo, his behaviour was indeed shitty but there are rumours saying that he sent a letter to EOK with his apologies and details or something about his problem!

The truth is that Sofo always had this behaviour(is not going to change) and he was forgiven every single time! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' />

EOK seems to have forgive Sofo once more! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Although, Zouros will decide whether he wants him in the team or not.

***About Diamantidis, I'm just hoping!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

And I won't stop to! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

I wasn't informed that Sofo acted badly against the NT's and EOK's wishes. He asked to not be included for personal reasons, and these personal reasons were determined to be genuine. Such personal reasons however were not found to be the same for Mavrokefalidis who trotted off to Russia for pre-season practice, effectively giving the NT the middle finger. Now he deserves the pole to be stuck up his ass permanently and have no chance with Hellas again. Also I wasn't impressed with Vougioukas attitude, he can f*ck off the same way as Mavrokefalidis. We will find new power forwards. It's good to see that Ivkovic is also going to give Katsivelis a chance to play this season round. He gave Papanikolaou a big boost last season, and look where Pap is now, playing almost like a seasoned veteran. We need this exposure for our young talents, I'm hoping Bogris will have a good season this year to get noticed. The talent is there, it just needs exposure of play at the highest level possible to go that extra step and become a formidable player, especially for Hellas NT's needs.

Although I hope Katsivelis will get his chances this year, I think that he'll be given on loan.

About Mavrokefalidis, I'm sure that his permanent exclusion from the NT will be the best gift for him. He don't feel like Greek and don't feel like playing for Greece besides he's not 100% Greek. I give him MY mmiddle finger by the way. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' />

About Vougioukas, it was obvious that he didn't want to play this year. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I haven't seen anything in power forward position. You say we'll find but it's very difficult. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Lastly, Bogris...?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

I bet you didn't saw what he wrote in his twitter acount during the Eurobasket targeting mostly on Greek/Americans. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Angry' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Who he thinks he is anyway. He'll stay stationary during his whole career in my opinion. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' />

His highlight bullshit though, came after the elimination by France. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' />

He posted in twitter a greek proverb saying: "From a pie I don't eat, I don't care if it gets burned" <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Angry' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

We'll have to get Sofo to give him a good beating and get him on the right path <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

Basically I want to see more of the young men who won the gold in the Euro championship in Rhodes in 2009, we have some of the guards and of course Pap the old MVP, but I want to see more of our big guys who had a good presence getting into the limelight. Together with Bogris who else was it who was a solid forward? Kaselakis-Sarikopoulos? I think it was Kaselakis who was a highly skilled center but was actually playing in the final phase of the champioship with a difficult injury. Tsakaleris will be interesting to see how he does in PAOK since we've signed him this season.

Talking about Vougioukas, he should be written off the NT, if he's going to be a lazy fucker about playing then he can f*ck right off for good. He's a scrub anyway.

About Kaselakis he was very promising but I don't know why he's lost.

*He's a PF! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Do you know what's going on with Mourtos? I think he plays in Thessaloniki(?).

I really liked his style and I think he was a very good player! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I also think that in 2-3 years, Chrysikopoulos will be on Greek NT's preperation!

I wish he fills the expectations!!!

He's the most promising Greek player of his age! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah I don't know what's going on with Kaselakis either.

Xrysikopoulos should be the new driving force era with Sloukas, Papanikolaou and Mantzaris. Mantzaris hopefully will get enough minutes, let's see who Oly will loan out.

I was watching the U(20-18-16) eurobaskets' results in the official site and I saw a Greek player in this year's U18 Eurobasket that, although we finished 3rd from the end, he was the second best scorer in the tournament!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

He had great numbers so I hope he's another promising player.

He's a PG and his name is Giannoulis Larentzakis!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

His numbers: 18.7ppg, 4.9rpg, 2.7apg, 2spg, 0.7bpg and 3.7topg( <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' /> )!!!!!

2pts: 57.4%, 3pts: 46.2%(30/65)!!! in 32.3mpg!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Don't forget that a star from the younger NT ages doesn't necessarily mean that they can cut it in the 'real' world of mens' basketball. And talking about Greece, if you don't have the appropriate connections you won't become pro 'your ass that you will be hitting' <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Look you might need some sort of connection to make it pro, and that mentality needs to absolutely fricking change, like yesterday!! But a talent is a talent is a talent, and NO way in hell, will that talented kid be left in the backburner. NO WAY!! That's ludicrous to do so, and I feel won't happen. Things are changing and for the BETTER!! We march forward and NOT backward. A good youth player doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a great pro or NT player peoples. That's an overrated fallacy boys.

I'm not sure about some of the players mentioned, even Xrysikopoulos has question marks, but let's wait and see how he develops. At present we have a plethora of young blood to throw in the team. As for PF's Theo and Zeus, throw me some names out, that your think have the guts fortitude talent and BALLS to make it in the elite. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

In Greece backwards is the forwards <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> Umpteen talent has already been lost in Greece due to the lack of 'connections'; it's how everything gets done back home. A sad reality, and there isn't anything to really break this spell which is what's worse...
