EA7 Milano, Real Madrid go 2-0, EuroLeague Thursday round up

EA7 Milano improved to 2-0 as they edged Darussafaka Dogus 81-80 in a thrilling EuroLeague encounter in Istanbul.

Milan Macvan starred with 19 points for the winners as the Italian side held on in the final seconds despite pressure from the hosts, who drop to 1-1.

“We had a really good approach to rebounding, and we won the game with that,” said Milano coach Jasmin Repesa.

“Sometimes the game comes down to making a play or not making a play, and at the very end we did not make those plays,” added Darussafaka coach David Blatt.

“We changed the line-up today but Milan responded and it still resulted in us not starting as well as we would have liked.”

Adrien Moerman led Darussafaka Dogus with 20 points on 4/7 three-point shooting.



Along with EA7 Milano, Real Madrid are also 2-0 after they overcame Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv on the road 89-82.

Real led for the majority for the contest until Maccabi suddenly narrowed the deficit to 85-82 in the final minutes. The Liga Endesa champions though held on.

Jaycee Carroll led Real with 18 points.



Brose Baskets secured their first win of the new EuroLeague season after narrowly beating Unics Kazan 89-86.

Nikos Zisis led the charge for the German champions with a double-double 16 points and 12 assists.

Keith Langford led all scorers with 24 points for Unics who remain winless after two games.



After defeat on opening night, Olympiacos got back on track with a convincing 88-63 win over Anadolu Efes in Piraeus.

Vassilis Spanoulis paced Olympiacos with 17 points Ashe reached 3,000 career EuroLeague points.

Cedi Osman paced Anadolu Efes with 22 points; a career high for him, but Anadolu drop to 0-2.

Fenerbahce get thrilling win in Barcelona, EuroLeague Friday round up

Fenerbahce couldn't believe their luck as Barcelona were unable to foul them in the last ten seconds allowing the Turkish side to claim a massive 93-92 win in the EuroLeague.

Tyrese Rice couldn't get a three-pointer off with ten seconds left as Fenerbahce ran the ball up court without Barcelona fouling. The win gives Fenerbahce a 2-0 start, with Barca dropping their first game of the season.

Bobby Dixon and Kostas Sloukas each had 15 points to lead the winners with Rice leading all scorers for Barca with 19.



CSKA Moscow improved to 2-0 as well after they edged Panathinaikos 81-77 in the Russian capital.

Panathinaikos though will feel that the result is harsh, considering that they led for stages and at time played the better basketball, but the reigning champions posted an 11-0 run late on to finally overcome the Greek side in the final period.

Veteran Andrey Vorontsevich starred with 20 points on 5/6 three-point shooting for the winners and EuroLeague MVP Nando De Colo also scored 20.



Stefan Jovic had 14 points and nine assists, but most importantly came up with the winning lay-up to give Crvena Zvezda a narrow 85-83 win over Galatasaray in Istanbul.

Marko Simonovic led Red Star with 23 points, including four three-pointers as they claimed their win of the EuroLeague season, but the game-winner was Jovic.



Leo Westermann scored a career-high 20 points to carry Zalgiris over Baskonia 78-73 on Friday at Zalgirio Arena.

Zalgiris improved to 1-1 on the season, while Baskonia slipped to the same mark.

Yesterday ŽALGIRIS lost again. They really missing R. SEIBUTIS deposit in the game. Maybe coach have some other taski in the game (i. e. deffence) but somehow he looks lost on the court. B. MOTUM is quite an athletic player but in 28 EUROLEAGUE games for ŽALGIRIS he for the first time blocked a shot intresting fact. )

The problem with Seibutis is his inconsistency imo. His role in EuroLeague should a backup guards who brings energy coming off the bench. He shouldn't be given a very big role.

I didn't check stats but I think that Motum received at least 1 block in each of those games For some reason he often underestimates his opponents or overestimates his chances to score.

Have you noticed that Teodosic seems to make at least 1 assist a games that's worth getting to Top 10 plays? It seems that he's getting more and more comfortable with his team each season.
