Rumours

Neven Spahija from Lietuvos Rytas to Maccabi.
#2
Simas Jasaitis of Lietuvos Rytas signed 2+1 contract with Israel champions and Euroleague runners-up Maccabi.
#3
Robertas Javtokas rejected San Antonio Spurs offer because he didn't like financial side of the offer and joined Panathinaikos.

EDIT - Macijauskas hasn't joined any club yet. He has offers from Olympiakos and Maccabi.
#4
It's official Arvydas Macijauskas signed 4-year contract with Olympiakos. He will be the best payed player in Europe earning 9M euros in 4 years.
#5
Alex Acker who spent last season In detroit pistons signed for Olympiakos. They and Panathinaikos already have great teams. And the fact that Euroleague's Final Four will be held in Athens gives them more motivation.

Efes Pilsen signed Horace jenkins who played for Hapoel Jerusalem last season. He will replace Marko Popovic who joined Zalgiris.

Zalgiris signed Vaidotas Peciukas from Neptunas Klaipeda to replace Simonas Serapinas who left the club for Euroleague newcomers Aris.

Spencer Nelson joined Benetton Treviso. He was one the leaders at Bamberg.

Rumours

Neven Spahija is looking for players to strengthen Maccabi. Ron Mercer, Zoran Planinic and Marcus Haislip are the main targets.

News from a reliable site in israel (sport5.co.il) Buford and Felix will be replaced by one combo guard soon.
#7
Lithuanian sites announced that Buford was released probably a couple of weeks ago so I was surprised to see him with the team in Maccabi game in Euroleague. Are there any names rumoured?
#8
kenny anderson and carim rash (I hope i express the names correctly)
#9
That Kenny Anderson? Really? He was pathetic at Zalgiris and he is old. Too old for a team like Maccabi. His age doesn't let him to adopt to European basketball.

Karim Rush would be a better choice.

My dream is to see Wallter herman in maccabi <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Quote:Tau Ceramica has added experience to its roster for the upcoming Euroleague Top 16 by inking small forward Ryan Bowen to a two-month contract, with a team option to extend the deal until the end of the season. Bowen (202, 31) is an accomplished defensive player whose last team was Houston of the NBA, where he averaged 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 66 NBA regular season games last season. Bowen has also played for the NBA's Denver Nuggets and Oyak Renault in Turkey since finishing his four-year college career at the NCAA's University of Iowa. He established Iowa records for career steals (208) and career field goal percentage (57.5%). Bowen could be eligible to play in Tau's last regular season game, too.

Quote:Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv decided to reinforce its backcourt ahead of the the Top 16 by bringing in combo-guard Goran Jeretin. The deal is for a year-and-a-half, running through the 2007-08 season. Jeretin (27, 1.92m) was signed to play for Dynamo St. Petersburg in Russia this season, but after the team went bankrupt, the Montenegrin guard joined Buducnost, where he averaged 18.1 points and 3.9 assists in 14 Adriatic League games. Jeretin has spent much of his career with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, helping the club to the ULEB Cup quarterfinals in the last season, before falling to eventual champion Dynamo Moscow. He led the Adriatic League last season with 4 assists per game. Jeretin is expected in Israel early next week.

Zalgiris signed DeJuan Collins from Bamberg till the end of the season.

Lietuvos Rytas loaned Ivan Koljevic from Bilbao.

How do players get signed in basketball. Is it the same as football with transfer fees and all that malarky, or is it different?
#13
It' slightly different because basketball clubs are not as rich as football ones. The most popular way of signing player is offering him a contract when his current deal ends. If a club wants to sign player who is under contract the it has to pay contract salary to the club where a player is currently playing and additional fee (which is transfer fee). Usually those amounts are small compared to football.

Abdul Rauf released on free by Aris.

I guess this means that he is no longer a candidate to take a job at Zalgiris. Would have been a great choice.

Another rumour related to Zalgiris. Marko Popovic is wanted by a few Euroleague clubs and he could leave the team in summer even though he has 1 year left in his contract. Such a great player I hope Zalgiris' management keeps him somehow.
#17
David Bluthental released on free by Climamio.

Popovic is great, i seen him live last season, killer 3points.

I'm sure he ll leave in summer, so many great teams out there lacking in PG position, including Panathinaikos.

Barcelona's GM Savic approached Panathinaikos' PF Michael Batiste and offered him a 3 year contract.

Batiste is not ready to reply yet as he will be a free agent in the summer and wants to see all possible options.

My opinion is that there is no way Pana will lose another player to Barca after Lakovic.

By the way, Batiste is the American with the longest presence in Panathinaikos squad, this is his 4th year now.
Respect and thanks for everything:

One of the possible names to take Zalgiris seat in summer (hopefully).

Panathinaikos head coach Zaljko Obradovic is unhappy with Tony Delk and he could be released soon.
