Transfers, Drafts, Exchanges etc...

Toronto Raptors signed Carlos Delfino of Detroit Pistons in exchange for 2 future second round draft picks.

I think i'm gonna be supporting Toronto Raptors from now on. I like their little experiment. They sign non-American players, especially Europeans, also they signed a European GM and they are rumoured to have been interested in a European coach (Blatt, Messina). Plus, they are not an American club Smile
Respect and thanks for everything:

A but old news, but since none has mentioned it so far...

Kobe Bryant requested to be exchanged as he wants to leave L.A. Lakers. It has been officially confirmed that he will be leaving Lakers as Kobe and Lakers president met in Barcelona and Kobe insisted on his request.

Anyone got any idea as to where he will end up?

Indiana Pacers wants him but the two teams can't agree on the exchanges, as Pacers have requested both Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom in addition to Kobe Bryant while Lakers is offering Quome Brown instead of Andrew Bynum.

Should be a long interesting story throughout the summer this one.

USA - Vincent to coach Bobcats

From http://www.charlotte.com

Dallas Mavericks assistant Sam Vincent has accepted the Charlotte Bobcats' coaching job. Barring a last-minute breakdown in contract details, he'll be introduced by Friday.

Two NBA sources confirmed that Wednesday, and Bobcats general manager Bernie Bickerstaff did little late in the day to dispute the notion.

"We're making progress," Bickerstaff said of negotiations with Vincent, "and we should have a little more certainty in the morning."

Vincent could not be reached for comment.

Vincent, 44, will succeed Bickerstaff, who coached the Bobcats' for their first three seasons. Vincent has never been a head coach on the NBA level and isn't the lead assistant with the Mavericks.

But he does fit what managing partner Michael Jordan envisioned when he spoke in March of finding the "next Avery Johnson" -- a former NBA player who could be a rising star in the coaching profession. Johnson, the Mavericks head coach, took over one of the NBA's premier franchises with no previous head coach experience.

Vincent, a former point guard, played seven NBA seasons, including nearly two as a teammate of Jordan's with the Chicago Bulls. He also played for Bickerstaff, with the Seattle Supersonics, and Bickerstaff and Johnson are close from their days together in Denver.

What attracted the Bobcats to Vincent?

"Anyone we talked to said his people skills are very, very good,'' Bickerstaff said. "That's important, particularly on the pro level.''

Bickerstaff believes his team's harmony was its greatest strength in the Bobcats' first three seasons, and he didn't want his successor disrupting that. But that isn't the only thing he liked about Vincent's background.

"They were very, very organized in Dallas as far as all the things they do with computers,'' Bickerstaff said. "His forte is defense when you watched the way he coached'' in other leagues.

Vincent has been an NBA assistant for one season. He came to the Mavericks from the NBA's developmental league, where he coached the Fort Worth franchise to the D-league's championship round.

Most of Vincent's experience is international. If he has a signature victory, it was probably as coach of the Nigerian national men's team, upsetting world power Serbia & Montenegro 82-75 at the 2006 FIBA World Championships.

Vincent got his start in coaching in South Africa, overseeing a pro team in Cape Town. He's also coached pro teams in Greece and the Netherlands.

Vincent gets the nod over nine other candidates the Bobcats interviewed for the job. At least three of those were established NBA head coaches: Paul Silas, Mike Fratello and Stan Van Gundy.

Others considered were Mario Elie, Herb Williams, Lionel Hollins, Reggie Theus and Bobcats assistants Jeff Capel and John-Blair Bickerstaff.

Pat Riley remains with the Heat 3 more seasons:

Quote:I have decided that I'm going to coach another three years; the term of my contract. And that's why it's taken so long for me to make this decision. I don't want to be a 'one and done' guy every year. In conversations that I've had with Micky Arison, I have three years left on my contract and I will coach those out. I will try to coach those out unless someone else makes a decision on me. That's a commitment that I want to make to the organization.

Quite right Vilius.

Quote:US sport's biggest trade of the summer has seen NBA superstar Kevin Garnett join the Boston Celtics from Minnesota.

Garnett is one of just five players in league history to amass 19,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists, but he has yet to win an NBA championship.

Boston are sending five players plus two draft picks to the Timberwolves in return for the 6ft 11in power forward who, at 31, is a 12-time NBA All-Star.

The Celtics have won 16 NBA titles but none since the 1985-86 season.

Garnett, will line up with star forward Paul Pierce and another big new signing, guard Ray Allen, as Boston attempt to revive their fortunes.

They finished with the second-worst record in the NBA last season (24-58).

Garnett will get the chance to meet his old team-mates again on 10 October when his new side plays the Timberwolves at London's O2 Arena in a pre-season game.

Quote:Suns Give D'Antoni OK to Talk to Other Teams

Taking the first step in what may clear the path to parting ways, the Suns have changed course over the weekend and given coach Mike D'Antoni permission to speak with other teams.

KTAR (620 AM), the Suns flagship station, reported late Sunday night that general manager Steve Kerr had granted D'Antoni permission to speak with both the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks about their vacant head coaching positions. That's a sign Friday's initial two-hour meeting between D'Antoni, Kerr and Suns managing partner Robert Sarver may have revealed too big of a disconnect for coach and GM to continue working together.

Kerr said as late as Friday morning, about an hour before the three met, that he would not grant such permission.

D'Antoni, who has averaged 58 wins over his four full seasons in Phoenix, has two years and $8.5 million remaining on his contract. The Suns wouldn't have to pay any of that if D'Antoni immediately takes a job with another team.

Kerr said Friday's chat yielded 'productive discussions' but no resolution and that the sides agreed to meet again this week. But the decision to give D'Antoni permission to look elsewhere indicates further talks over the weekend. Kerr and D'Antoni both admit to 'philosophical differences' in their approach to the game, but both also said Wednesday ' a day after the Suns were eliminated in the first round by San Antonio '€ that they would like to find a way to press forward together.

Miami Heat: We are continuing to hear that if the Bulls draft Derrick Rose with the No. 1 pick (which is looking more and more likely) they'll try to move the No. 2 pick for either a draft prospect like O.J. Mayo or a veteran point guard like T.J. Ford or Kirk Hinrich.

Of course, the Heat will want more than just a straight swap for giving up such a coveted pick. With so many teams in pursuit of a scoring forward like Michael Beasley, the Heat could really net a starter

and a high pick or solid prospect. They could change their mind after Beasley comes in for workouts, but right now it's looking less likely that they'll draft at No. 2.

-------

Portland Trail Blazers: From what I can gather, using the No. 13 pick is a last resort for the Blazers. They have plenty of young players and actually will look to package their first-round pick and a few of their young players to get a veteran point guard or small forward. They too could be in the hunt

for Ford or Hinrich.

They have a lot of other assets they could include in a trade, including Jarrett Jack, Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw, Channing Frye and Sergio Rodriguez.

The flip side for Portland? If they keep all of their young players for another year, they could have significant cap room next summer. In other words, it will have to be a good deal for the Blazers to pull the trigger.

-------

New Jersey Nets: This is a team at a serious crossroads. Do they try to make a big deal that puts them back into contention in the East? Or do they start cutting payroll with an eye toward free agency in 2010? The popular notion is that the Nets will try to find a way to get far enough under the cap to make a run at LeBron James in 2010.

However, a Nets source told me in Orlando that if they were able to make a big deal now, they'd do it and risk losing LeBron in 2010. The Nets have assets: two first-round picks, Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic's restricted free-agent rights and a few interesting young players.

If that could net them a young player like Carmelo Anthony, they'd probably pull the trigger. From what I understand, there's no one at No. 10 or No. 21 that they feel will turn this team around.

-------

Seattle SuperSonics: Two different team executives told me in Orlando that Sonics GM Sam Presti had called about trading the No. 4 pick. One trade would have the Sonics moving down a few spots in the lottery. The other would have the Sonics moving significantly down.

I'm not sure how much to read into it because a Sonics source made it sound like the team was high on Jerryd Bayless, and I doubt he's on the board past No. 6. We'll see what happens.

-------

Memphis Grizzlies: The team is rebuilding and is at a good spot at No. 5. But they also have assets that could net them a higher lottery pick.

If they were to offer Mike Miller and Kyle Lowry for the No. 2 pick, would the Heat bite? Maybe, if the Grizzlies were willing to take back Mark Blount or a combo of Marcus Banks and Udonis Haslem in return to make the numbers work.

-------

New York Knicks: The Knicks are in a tough spot. They'd love to move up a few spots in the draft and get a player like Mayo or Bayless. But neither player will likely be there at No. 6. Their options at No. 6 are solid, but none of the players on the board will be able to turn this team around.

Would they be willing to sacrifice a good young player or two (David Lee or Nate Robinson) for the chance to draft a star? Or would they be willing to move down in the draft to pick up multiple assets?

I don't think Donnie Walsh likes where he's at and it will be interesting to see which way the Knicks will go.

-------

Los Angeles Clippers: L.A. is another team at the crossroads entering the draft. If Elton Brand and Corey Maggette stay -- and stay healthy -- the team should be competing for the playoffs again as long as they can find a point guard via free agency or the draft.

I could see them moving their pick for the chance to get a strong point guard like Ford or Hinrich. If Maggette opts out (likely) and Brand does too (less likely, but possible) they're in full rebuilding mode around Al Thornton and Chris Kaman and will likely keep the pick.

-------

Milwaukee Bucks: New GM John Hammond is determined to make the Bucks a winner now. He has a roster full of young, unproven players and one valuable veteran -- Michael Redd.

I think it's more likely that the Bucks package No. 8 along with several other players on their roster to get another veteran to play alongside Andrew Bogut. I think Redd, Mo Williams and Charlie Villanueva are all available and Hammond is looking for players, not cap space. They could be an interesting mover and shaker in the draft.

-------

Golden State Warriors: Golden State is yet another team with a tough decision to make. They have a lot of players hitting free agency. Will their owner spend the money to bring Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins and Mickael Pietrus back in the fold?

I'm also hearing that a combo of Brandan Wright and the No. 14 pick are available if they can get a veteran big man back in return or move up in the draft.

-------

Phoenix Suns: Considering that they have a history of dumping their draft picks, you have to look at Phoenix's pick at No. 15 as being in play. There are some good options for them there, but if Steve Kerr is continuing down the path of a championship run, the chances of a 15th pick getting much action are pretty slim.

Well I had an idea. Any confirmed moves of players between clubs could be edited into the first post. Anything else could be pure speculation. So just tell me the confirmed transfers and I'll add it in to the first post. Wink
