Ruben Douglas of Pamesa Valencia broke the record for most three-pointers ever made in a ULEB Cup game by making 9 triples in a valiant, but ultimately losing effort during his team's 81-78 road loss at Khimki in Moscow, Russia on Tuesday. The loss was Pamesa's first this season, while Khimki remained undefeated and now leads Group D alone. Douglas connected with 9 of his 12 three-point tries - including 5 in the first quarter alone - on his way to 36 points, his career high in the ULEB Cup. He had previously been a ULEB Cup champion with Dynamo Moscow and was named the title-game MVP in 2006. Ironically, Khimki's victory came on a game-winning three-pointer by Anton Ponkrashov. The previous record was 8 three-pointers made, shared by eight players: Jurica Ruzic, Pedro Robles, Kristaps Valters, Charles Smith, Greg Stempin, Hurl Beechum, Chris McGuthrie and Michael Watson. Robles accomplished his feat with the same team, Pamesa, hitting 8 of 10 three-pointers in an elimination-rounds game against Zadar on February 25, 2003.
Respect and thanks for everything:
