Poll: The best team in Euroleague now
#1
Well, what in your opinion is the best team at the moment in Europe. Panathinaikos and CSKA are both fileld with stars and both lost once in Euroleague. They look very solid. Lietuvos Rytas and Unicaja are top in what could be considered as the weakest group. Despite that I can't forget their discipline on the court and strong character.

I voted for CSKA. In my opinion the main choice is between them and PAO. The greens had some tough wins when they were behind in the end. I think that group A is the strongest. CSKA defeated all the top teams and lost only once against Olimpija. All in all it's hard to put one team ahead in this poll.

A domination of two teams does not the competition more interesting but when gets to do or die only CSKA can stop PAO or vice versa. I wish we would see some really unexpected team in final 4 this year. Maybe Rytas... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

I'm waitng for PAO and CSKA to crush financly in order that the usuall situation of 5-6 good teams fighting for the champ will be back in order.

It seems that those who voted for PAO were right. They are not motivated as much as they could be and that makes the scores so close in my opinion. However the quality of the players that PAO have is above most of the EL teams. But that makes a victory against them even more sweet <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

I think Panathinaikos has an advantage over CSKA and that is due to their deeper bench. While Panathinaikos can afford leaving veterans like Hatzivrettas and Tomasevic out of the game (not even on the bench!) CSKA's bench is filled with youngsters who get to play 3-5 minutes per game...

Which team except Panathinaikos could afford not to start Jasikevicius?
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

You are right. I was wondering why would they keep Tomasevic in the team if they don't let him play. Panathinaikos are always among Europe's elite and they will stay there but do you think we could expect to see other power rising in the next few years?

Conidering that in the past 10 years the same teams dominate Europe (CSKA, Panathinaikos, Maccabi that is) I really doubt it.

But with the Italians out of the picture and Barcelona not as strong anymore, Olympiakos could emerge as a new radial power. But Olympiakos' difference from CSKA and Panathinaikos is based less on the budget and more on the club organization, scouting, manager.

in euroleague and european basketball i think the main course is directing the game, noticing the lacks of opponents, knowing what your team can do best, and being passionate always. these are a guard's attributes. in euroleague, the first necessity is having a good guard, who can read the game, and having great pass and defence ability. panathinaikos is a guard collectioner. spanoulis, diamantidis, jasikevicius, hatzivrettas, becirovic, can play at every european team easily by starting 5. besides, no team has the squad depth as pao have. it is some important to stop them because the have 12 all star players. you cannot concentrte at any player because always the other is ready to score you. my voite is to greens..
