Quote:CHN/ESP - Spain and China are "rivals but not enemies"

MADRID (2014 FIBA World Championship) - "Spain and China could be rivals in their common target of holding the 2014 FIBA World Championship, but never will be enemies", said Spanish Basketball Federation (FECool President José Luis Sáez, after receiving in Madrid a visit from a delegation of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

FEB organized in the capital of Spain several working meetings with the CBA Vice President Li Jinshenh, the CBA Sports Director Duan Lian and the CBA Finance Administrator Fu Xiaohong.

Maximum leaders of both federations, that share with Italy their wish to organize the 2014 FIBA World Championship, have designed the bases for a future col-laboration between Spain and China in order to impulse the development of basketball in both countries.

"Spain is on top of international basketball" said Li Jinsheng in Madrid. "We wanted to know and learn about their formula and now that we have seen their programs to detect, scout and improve players we can say that the Spanish method is excellent".

FEB president has accentuated the intention of both federations to "collaborate together if their countries are chosen by FIBA to organize the event or not".

Spain, China and Italy are hoping to host the 2014 FIBA World Championship with FIBA's Central Board set to make its decision on the weekend of May 23-24 in Geneva, Switzerland.

I think Italy should get it, they really need to get the basketball spark back into their national team and the interest of their people to watch it again. Although it didn't help lately them losing to Montenegro in the Eurobasket 2011 qualification rounds <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' />
