Splitter is huge tonight. If only he could shoot better from the FT line, he seriously needs to improve that.

Bricks and more bricks, it's getting real ugly Finally Papaloukas with a play to lift the stands.
Edit: Papaloukas is the man!

So CSKA is in the final, congrats! Pretty even game in the first half, the Prigioni and Splitter connection working great, Ã
 iÃ
¡kauskas and Holden doing the right things for CSKA. Actually Holden was pretty much the man for the Reds during the first half with his long distance shots. The second half was very much ugly at times, especially by the end of the 3rd period. Lots of missed shots, airballs, both teams didn't seem to know what they were doing on court. But in the end I guess CSKA's proved why they were a favourite to win it all: more concentration, the talisman Papaloukas stepping up, Andersen doing his best plays and great team play.
As for some tough calls by the referees against TAU, I really don't think they had much influence in the game. I just see it on another perspective: Splitter missed too much FTs, if he had converted more of those, TAU could have been 3 or 4 behind and still with great chances to win the game. I'm not blaming him for the loss, but the referees are not to blame either. Anyway, entertaining game at times, the best team won.

Quote:Siena's 45 three-point tries a new record
Montepaschi Siena set a Euroleague record by attempting 45 three-point shots in Friday's first semifinal, Montepaschi lost the game 85-92 to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The 45 attempts was more than any other Euroleague team tried in any single game this decade. The previous record had been 44 three-point attempts, with 12 shots made, by Fortitudo Bologna in a victory over Adecco Estudiantes on November 18, 2004. Montepaschi started its record shooting spree with 10 tries in the first quarter on Friday, of which it made 3 of them. They launched 12 more in the second quarter, also making 3. Montepaschi's pace kept up, but with less accuracy, in a 2-for-12 thrid quarter from downtown. Then they launched 11 more in the fourth quarter, hitting 3 of those, too. All told, Montepaschi made 11 of 45, or 25%, while Maccabi hit the same 11 in just 22 attempts.

I always thought CSKA would win despite how good TAU played. As mentioned above, Splitter was huge for TAU. CSKA players got in foul trouble pretty early. CSKA have players that can step up in crucial moments and carry the game on their shoulders. In games like this it is very important and is a huge advantage.

Congrats to CSKA! The favourite made it, totally deserved title. Maccabi fought hard, they gave their best in the semis, but CSKA was just too strong. The first part was entertaining to watch, very close, fast game with Batista being the main man for Maccabi. The second half wasn't so pretty to watch, Maccabi players became too nervous and also thanks to CSKA defense they had many forced missed shots. Andersen, Papaloukas and Langdon did the rest and the gap just became bigger and bigger. The 4th period was a disaster for Maccabi.
Great team play from the Reds, a lesson on how to play as a team. One more title to Messina! Langdon MVP?
Edit: Langdon MVP! Fantastic game from him.

Congrats to CSKA Moscow. Langdon and Andersen were simply great. Simply, the best team in Europe, the last 5 years. They really deserved this cup. A real giant.

Where have you been Rivers? We missed your posting.
Three Euroleague Final in three years and two titles. Messina is definitely the best coach in Europe and one of the best in the world. With Messina staying with CSKA it won't be a surprise at all to see them doing the same in Berlin next year.

Well, business is business mate...
About Messian as the "best coach in Europe", I strongly disagree. He's one of the best for sure, but not the best one. This title ( as even Messina said ) belongs to Obradovic.
