I wish you were right. Even though Zalgiris is better on paper but I feel that it could be yet another disappointment.

Thanks Kobi, but Nenad is right. I used to blame the board of Zalgiris for many years and my opinion hasn't changed. Hopefully they will get beaten by Rytas this Saturday in their first official clash this season. Because that's the only thing that make the board worry a little. As it seems that they are totally careless about Euroleague.

All those "changes" in the club's board are fake. And untill new people come in and replace "the old crew" we won't see any positive things.

Krapikas will stay as a head coach despite all the poor results. The board will not admit their mistake appointing him of course. Then there are two scenarios: 1. Zalgiris will play very poor but will win Lithuanian Cup for example of the Baltic League and it will "a proof" that Krapikas is a good coach. 2. We will see poor results week after week and when the club is in a totally hopeless situation Krapikas will step down. And then what? Then a new inexpierenced coach will take his place. Who cares if he is inexperienced if he is cheap and a good friend of "important" people in Zalgiris.

There might be a brighter scenario but it would be only a temporary change.

How can such a famous club like Zalgiris not find a serious sponsor up until now? Yes, the world is in economic crisis but I don't see it as a big obstacle to find a company who would support the team. Then you start thinking about the reasons that stop potential investors from coming to Zalgiris.

Maybe I am simplifying the situation but that's how I see it and I think that most of my thoughts are truth.

Tough loss for Olimpija, they are not being lucky at all (and I usually don't mention luck and badluck). Is Olimpija lacking some kind of leadership on court? Milic is still there and he means a lot to the club, but maybe the problem is leadership?

Well it's Preldzic's breakout season and it's surprising to me at least. Last year he showed little and there were even doubts about his (limited) role on the team and Tanjevic's choices, but things seem to have taken a major turn this year.

Real needs something. Plaza is a good coach, they have Reyes as a leader, Bullock as a steady player, Llull is standing out, Raul Lopez is a solid guard, but what about the rest? The team relies in just a few players and that's not enough in high level competition.

Most disappointing teams so far for me are: Real Madrid, Joventut, Žalgiris, Panathinaikos and Efes Pilsen.

Air Avellino 78 - Le Mans 73

Quote:Air Avellino registered its second consecutive win in Group A by downing Le Mans 78-73 at home on Thursday night. Avellino won its second consecutive game to improve to 2-2 in the Group A standings, joining Unicaja and Maccabi Electra in a three-way tie for third place. Meanwhile, Le Mans went down to 0-4 and needs to start winning right away to keep its Top 16 options alive. Eric Williams led the winners with 16 points on 5-for-6 two-pointers and 8 rebounds. Chris Warren added 13 points, Tamar Slay added 11 - all in the second half - while Daniele Cinciarini got 10 for Avellino. Dewarick Spencer led Le Mans with 26 points. Joao Batista added 12 while Brian Chase got 10 for the guests, that led 18-19 after 10 minutes. Cinciarini and Drake Diener stepped up late in the first half to give Avellino a 40-35 edge at the break. Slay had 9 points in the third quarter to keep the hosts ahead, 63-57, after 30 minutes. Travis Best became Avellino's go-to guy to lead the hosts to a well-deserved win, as Le Mans only rallied once the outcome was clear.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=37

QUOTES: "We have to play together to get these wins. We have been playing well, practicing hard, and we are a really good team, with a deep bench. I think coach did the right thing by not starting me in the second half, because I have been battling injuries. I had enough energy to come back in the fourth quarter and attack a little bit. It worked out. We definitely have an option to get to the next round. This win at home is very important one, because we had two tough losses early on. We found different ways of winning even though we are still trying to learn what kind of team we are. We have a really good chance to go further." - Travis Best, Air Avellino

“We have lost only by 5 points. This is the only good news for us. Avellino could kill the game in such situations, but we resisted and recovered and that’s good. Offensively we didn’t play well, actually we missed different open shots. While Avellino played hard and for us it has been a very difficult game." - Jean-David Jackson, Le Mans Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Eric Williams, Avellino (16 points, 8 rebounds in 20 minutes)

-Chris Warren, Avellino (13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists in 35 minutes)

-Tamar Slay, Avellino (11 points in 24 minutes)

-Daniele Cinciarini, Avellino (10 points, 6 rebounds in 22 minutes)

-Dewarick Spencer, Le Mans (26 points, 3 steals in 35 minutes)

-Joao Paulo Baptista, Le Mans (12 points in 20 minutes)

-Brian Chase, Le Mans (10 points, 4 assist, 3 steals in 35 minutes)

Olympiacos 84 - Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv 65

Quote:Olympiacos bounced back from its first loss of the season by slapping Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv 84-65 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Thursday. Lynn Greer scored 21 for his best offensive output since burning Maccabi for 27 last season to lead the Reds. The win saw Olympiacos improve to 3-1, the same as Cibona, which defeated it in Croatia last week. Maccabi is now tied for third place with Unicaja at 2-2. The visitors were without start point guard Carlos Arroyo, who was sidelined with back pain. Maccabi nevertheless started strong and led 13-23 at one point in the first quarter, but the Reds soon regained control and without anyone to effectively run the offense, Maccabi managed just 5 second-period points as Olympiacos took a 34-29 halftime lead. It grew to 19 in the third and although the visitors never quit, they simply couldn’t match Olympiacos strength as the Reds cruised to a well-earned win. Nikola Vucic added 14 points, 3 assists and 3 steals against his former club, while Panos Vasilopoulos also netted 14 and Ioannis Bourousis posted 12 points and 9 rebounds. Omri Casspi paced Maccabi with 16 points in 18 minutes and Esteban Batista added 10 in defeat.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=38

QUOTES:"This was a good game for us, especially against a team that has always been dangerous. We put some early pressure on Maccabi, but they found the solutions. In the third quarter, we managed to build a difference and hold it till the end, despite some bad moments we had. As far as our performance in the beginning of the game, we wanted to press Maccabi in order to make it run out of energy. We don’t care about the score after one quarter, but after 40 minutes." - Panagiotis Giannakis, Olympiacos Head Coach

"We committed too many turnovers, especially in the second and third quarters. We had a specific plan for this game, but things changed when Arroyo got injured. When Olympiacos's players found their confidence, they got control of the tempo. There are, though, some positive things of this game, but I prefer to keep them to myself. At the end of the day, they were playing at home and we are missing Arroyo…" - Efi Birenboim, Maccabi Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Lynn Greer, Olympiacos (21 points in 28 minutes)

-Nikola Vujcic, Olympiacos (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals in 26 minutes)

-Panagiotis Vasilopoulos, Olympiacos (14 points, 5 rebounds in 23 minutes)

-Ioannis Bourousis, Olympiacos (12 points, 9 rebounds in 24 minutes)

-Omri Casspi, Maccabi (16 points, 5 rebounds in 18 minutes)

-Esteban Batista, Maccabi (10 points in 18 minutes)

Unicaja Malaga 77 - Cibona Zagreb 67

Quote:Unicaja is back on the winning track in Group A after its 77-67 triumph at home in Malaga, Spain on Thursday ended Cibona Zagreb's three-game undefeated start to the season. With this win Unicaja climbs to a 2-2 record, with two home wins versus two road losses. It was Cibona first loss in Group C, though its 3-1 record still keeps it on top of the group. Boniface Ndong led the winners with 18 points, most of them in rim shaking dunks, in addition to 8 rebounds. Carlos Cabezas woke up with 14 points, Thomas Kelati added 13 while Carlos Jimenez and Robert Archibald had 10 each. Rawle Marshall kept Cibona in the game for long minutes with 25 points and no less than seven baskets from long distance in 10 attempts. Earl Calloway added 11. Cibona took a 20-21 lead early in the second quarter after Robert Troha hit the only three pointer of the night scored for Cibona not by Marshall, but a 16-3 run of Unicaja led by Ndong and Jimenez put the locals on top, and from there until the buzzer Aaito's team kept the lead safe. Cibona came as close as five points behind in the deciding quarter, but didn't find the way to make the difference and stay perfect.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=39

QUOTES:"We started and finished the game with a great mentality. Apparently, it was good for Boni Ndong not to practice in the last couple of days, because he played really well in the first halt. Robert Archibald also played a good game, especially if you consider that he couldn't even move this morning. We missed too many free throws in the third quarter, maybe because of the pressure to win the game. Omar Cook played with the confidence that we hope he keeps finding each and every day. I am happy because it was a difficult game. We have to carry on winning at home and see what we can do on the road." - Aito Garcia Reneses, Unicaja Head Coach

"Unicaja rolled in the second quarter and managed to get an important lead. We had controlled the game until that moment, but were not able to stop their aggressive game in five key minutes. Ndong hurt us a lot in the key moment. Unicaja is a fair winner. I like their team a lot, as I had already seen them in their previous game. It is an athletic team, the way Aito likes it, very aggressive with committed players. It will be a very tough team to beat." - Velimir Perasovic, Le Mans Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Boniface N'Dong, Unicaja (18 points, 8 rebounds in 24 minutes)

-Carlos Cabezas, Unicaja (14 points, 4 rebounds in 24 minutes)

-Thomas Kelati, Unicaja (13 points in 24 minutes)

-Robert Archibald, Unicaja (10 points, 6 rebounds in 16 minutes)

-Carlos Jimenez, Unicaja (10 points, 4 rebounds in 24 minutes)

-Rawle Marshall, Cibona (25 points, 5 rebounds in 33 minutes)

-Earl Calloway, Cibona (11 points in 24 minutes)

SLUC Nancy 69 - Zalgiris 64

Quote:SLUC Nancy recorded its first Euroleague win on Sunday by beating Zalgiris Kaunas 69-64 behind a great second half from Lamayne Wilson. The hosts finished the third quarter with 13 unanswered points to take at 16-point lead and then held strong when Zalgiris rallied late. Wilson, who sat down after less than four minutes in the first period with three fouls, came back and sparked Nancy in the second half, when he scored all of his 17 points. Nancy now improves to 1-3 in Group B with a trip to Montepaschi looming next week. Meanwhile Zalgiris remains winless and will return home to host Regal FC Barcelona next week. Ricardo Greer added 17 points and 7 rebounds and his brother Jeff Greer posted 11 points for Nancy. Victor Samnick was also a key part of the win with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Dainius Salenga led Zalgiris with 15 points and 6 assists, while Jonas Maciulis and Paulius Jankunas added 13 points apiece. Loren Woods was good for 9 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in just 20 minutes.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=40

QUOTES: "This is the first victory for our club in the Euroleague and we'll savor it. We could have had a larger victory in the third quarter when we had a 16-point lead, but we faced a true opponent and we made defensive mistakes that offered them easy shots. We'll be content with this 5-point win. We had several goals in this game: To control the rebound and cause Zalgiris turnovers. Except in the fourth quarter, we were defensively strong and we forced them to have complicated shots. For the next matches, we must have confidence in our defense." - Jean-Luc Monschau, Nancy Head Coach

"I wish to congratulate Nancy for its first victory in the Euroleague. The key game was the number of turnovers (21) and the number of Nancy's offensive rebounds (14). It doesn't forgive. When in the third quarter we had a 16-point deficit, we thought we had no more chances to win. But we came back to 4 points by making great efforts offensively and defensively. This game gives us opportunities for the return game." - Gintaras Krapikas, Zalgiris Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Lamayne Wilson, Nancy (17 points in 22 minutes)

-Ricardo Greer, Nancy (16 points, 7 rebounds in 37 minutes)

-Jeff Greer, Nancy (11 points in 33 minutes)

-Dainius Salenga, Zalgiris (15 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals in 33 minutes)

-Jonas Maciulis, Zalgiris (13 points in 31 minutes)

-Paulius Jankunas, Zalgiris (13 points, 5 rebounds in 29 minutes)

-Loren Woods, Zalgiris (9 points, 9 rebounds in 21 minutes)

Regal FC Barcelona 74 - Asseco Prokom 62

Quote:The fourth week of the regular season travelled to Barcelona, Spain to see Regal FC Barcelona get rid of visiting Asseco Prokom by 74-62. After a close, tight first half, Roger Grimau and Juan Carlos Navarro turned things around for the hosts in the third quarter for good. The win lifts Barca to a 3-1 recordin Group B, while Prokom drops to 1-3. Navarro led the way with 21 points and David Andersen helped with 10 points. For Prokom, Pat Burke chipped in 14 points and Ronnie Burrell posted 10.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=41

QUOTES: "We played an excellent game in defense. Our main goal tonight was to stop their key players and that is exactly what we did tonight. Roger Grimau did an excellent job tonight. Being the Group B leaders is an anecdote right now. The most important thing is to lead this group at the end of the regular season, but of course, I prefer leading the group right now than being second or third." - Javier Pascual, Barcelona Head Coach

"Until halftime things were okay for us. We fought, but we missed a lot of open shots. I think the key problem of the game in the end was turnovers. We made 22 turnovers, and that's way too much. We lost a lot in the third quarter when Navarro was playing really well. He showed he's a great player and that was the key moment when we were turning the ball over to them. It was a good lesson for us. Congratulations to Barça, which is a great team and club. It was a good lesson for us for the future. We can't play with those same mistakes. We are young and have to improve without pressure. We have to fight and hustle and hope we hit the open shots we missed tonight. But we fought, and that's good." - Tomas Pacesas, Prokom Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Juan Carlos Navarro, Barcelona (21 points, 3 steals in 31 minutes)

-David Andersen, Barcelona (10 points in 18 minutes)

-Patrick Burke, Prokom (14 points, 5 rebounds in 24 minutes)

Panathinaikos 81 - Montepaschi Siena 76

Quote:Panathinaikos turned around the standings in Group B on Thursday by ending Montepaschi Siena's undefeated season to this point with a down-to-the-wire 81-76 home victory at OAKA in Athens, Greece. The victory meant that Panathinaikos and Montepaschi, with 3-1 records, are both tied for first place now with Regal F.C. Barcelona. Down by a point with under 2 minutes to play after a a back-and-forth game, the Greens relied on good-as-gold Sarunas Jasikevicius and Dimitris Diamantidis for a pair of go-ahead layups before finishing the game on defense and at the foul line. Antonis Fotsis and Nikola Pekovic paced the winners with 14 points each, while Diamantidis had 11, Jasikevicius and Vassilis Spanoulis 10 each. Most important was how Panathinaikos won the rebounding war 37 to 23 with eight different players grabbing 3 boards or more. Montepaschi got 22 ponts from Ksistof Lavrinovic, 17 from Romain Sato, 14 from Henry Domercant and 10 from Rimantas Kaukenas. A three-pointer by Sato had the guests up 73-74 in the next-to-last minute, but only a short shot by Kaukenas fell after that as the Panathinaikos put the wraps on Terrell McIntyre, who was held to 3 points, his Euroleague career low.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=42

QUOTES: “I think that we did a good job tonight. It was a high-quality game and Siena proved that –and this is the case also with Barcelona- it is one of the strongest teams right now. However, despite our dry spells, it was a very important and crucial win for us. The keys tonight were our defense and the fact that we dominated the boards. Yet, we have to improve our performance in order to be able to play effectively throughout the whole game.” - Nikola Pekovic, Panathinaikos

“This was a great game for both teams tonight. We did not approach the game as strong as we wanted to in the first minutes, but then we played Panathinaikos face-to-face. And when you do that here in Greece, it's very encouraging. It was a big test for us. In the end the little details decided the game, but we proved that we are one of the top teams and that’s important. We were down by 10 two or three times, but we still managed to recover. Usually Panathinaikos kills the game in such situations, but we resisted and recovered and that’s good.

My players should get smarter and get more fouls. We only shot 10 free throws tonight. Another problem we had was the rebounds, but in the end we had more steals and less turnovers and that’s what brought the game to details."- Simone Pianigiani, Montepaschi Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Nikola Pekovic, Panathinaikos (14 points in 25 minutes)

-Antonis Fotsis, Panathinaikos (14 points, 4 rebounds in 21 minutes)

-Sarunas Jasikevicius, Panathinaikos (10 points in 29 minutes)

-Vassilis Spanoulis, Panathinaikos (10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists in 27 minutes)

-Ksistof Lavrinovic, Montepaschi (22 points, 4 rebounds in 31 minutes)

-Romain Sato, Montepaschi (17 points, 4 rebounds in 23 minutes)

-Henry Domercant, Montepaschi (14 points in 29 minutes)

-Rimantas Kaukenas, Montepaschi (10 points, 5 rebounds in 28 minutes)

Tau Ceramica 90 - Lottomatica Roma 93

Quote:One of the Euroleague's last four undefeated teams fell to its first defeat on its own floor on Wednesday as visiting Lottomatica Roma shocked Tau Ceramica with a 90-93 Group C victory in Vitoria, Spain. The victory let Roma tie Tau for first place, both with 3-1 records, while Fenerbahce (2-1) can join them if it defeats winless Union Olimpija at home on Thursday. Roma established double-digit leads early with great defense and held off a furious Tau rally in the final quarter. Tau missed 4 three-pointes in the last 6 minutes with the chance to tie or go ahead. Sani Becirovic led the winners with 23 points, including making 11 of 12 free throws. Primoz Brezec added 18 points for the winners, Andre Hutson 15, Brandon Jennings 13 and Allan Ray 11. For Tau, Igor Rakocevic had 23 points – 21 of them in the second half. Will McDonald added 16 for Tau and Tiago Splitter and Mirza Teletovic 15 each.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=43

QUOTES: "We lost a very tough game tonight. We had a slow start and that allowed them to get a good advantage that we couldn’t overcome. After halftime we improved but we couldn’t cap the comeback even though we got some open shots to get the lead. We missed them and that must make us learn the lesson. We know we are not unbeatable and the only way to be able to get back to the winning track is to keep working hard." - Igor Rakocevic, Tau

"We know how hard it is to win here, because Tau didn’t lost a game both in the Euroleague and in the domestic competition for a long time. So we knew what we should expect coming here. I think we prepared the game pretty good, we knew who were their main weapons and we stopped their shooters in the first half. We knew they could come back later but we played smart in the end and managed to win the game. We punished them with the pick-and-roll, taking advantage of our size, With Andre doing a great job in the last minutes, we moved the ball very well, we took good decisions in the end. I feel very proud of how we played tonight. After our last defeat in Italy, our coach told us that today’s game was going to prove our maturity, so the win is very good for us. Now is time to see how to respond in our next domestic game. Basketball is two baskets and a ball, everywhere. I really enjoy playing Euroleague again, I did it in my first years at Olimpija and also played for my national team in summer time, so I didn’t need big adjustment. I love Rome’s project, I like the organization, the team and I have great expectations for this season." - Primoz Brezec, Roma

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Sani Becirovic, Roma (23 points in 28 minutes)

-Primoz Brezec, Roma (18 points, 4 rebounds in 21 minutes)

-Andre Hutson, Roma (15 points, 4 rebounds in 34 minutes)

-Brandon Jennings, Roma (13 points in 17 minutes)

-Allan Ray, Roma (11 points, 4 assists in 22 minutes)

-Igor Rakocevic, Tau (23 points in 26 minutes)

-Will McDonald, Tau (16 points, 8 rebounds in 25 minutes)

-Mirza Teletovic, Tau (15 points, 4 rebounds in 29 minutes)

-Tiago Splitter, Tau (15 points in 22 minutes)

Alba Berlin 74 - DKV Joventut 72

Quote:Alba Berlin shook off the loss of its top scorer early in the game to prevail by 74-72 over visiting DKV Joventut at O2 World in the German capital on Thursday. The victory lifted Alba's record to 2-2 in Group C, good for sole possesion of fourth place, with three teams tied at 3-1. Joventut fell to 1-3 despite having a chance to win or tie with the ball and 7 seconds left. Pau Ribas shot falling down and missed, however his team's single basket in the first 7 minutes, 30 seconds of the fourth quarter was more to blame. Berlin saw top scorer Julius Jenkins go down in a collision with Desmond Mallet midway through the second quarter, never to return. The hosts got an ensemble effort, however, with Ansu Sesay scoring 15 points and Adam Chubb posting a double-double of 12 and 10 rebounds. Aleskandar Nadjfeji scored 12, too, while Steffan Hamman and Jenkins added 10 each. Luka Bogdanovic led the visitors with 21 points by hitting 7 of 12 three-pointers, the last of which made cut the difference to 71-70 in the final minute. A series of free throws moved the scoreboard to 74-72 before Rashad Wright missed his pair with 7 seconds left, but Joventut couldn't get a clean shot off and Alba took the victory. QUOTES: "Before the game we have stated that this game has a qualification of character for us. If we had lost the game, it would be very difficult to overcome, since after Badalona lost at home to Fenerbahce it looks like, that there is going to be a straight fight between Joventut, us and Olimpija Ljubljana for the 4th place in our group. By beating Joventut we have saved our chances to go to the second round. The pressure because of this situation was big, but the players accepted it against a good team and in the end came up with an important win. We played well especially in the first half. We have come up with a good control of the tempo, with good defenses and with good initiative in offense. However we could not execute certain situations and it was visible how dangerous Joventut is. When our turnovers created good opportunities, you could see, that Joventut is a team, that can bury an opponent within two minutes. But even, when things were not working for us, we persisted and were awarded with a good possibilty to finish strong and we did. I have to congratulate my players on carrying this win all the way through." - Luka Pavicevic, Alba Head Coach

"Congratulations to Alba Belrin. They have been playing well in the first part of the game. They were playing very well the pick & roll situations in the first ten, twelve minutes and they played with smaller centers, which were difficult for us to stop with Henk Norel and Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca. So we decided to defend with smaller players. This went better, but in the last minutes we had problems with the offensive rebound. Also Alba at the end of the game found better options to shoot than us. Despite the loss I am very happy with Luka Bogdanovic, because for him it was very difficult to start the season in Badalona. Today finally he was able to play at his best level. We are still waiting for two important players, Ricky Rubio and Pops Mensah Bonsu, and maybe, when they return to playing with us, we still will have our chances to reach the next round. We shot 37 three- pointers, which today was too much. But we have so many good shooters and without Pops Mensah Bonsu we have not so many chances inside. Henk Norel is still young and for Edu it is difficult to play against smaller centers. We need to find a better balance to play inside and outside." - Sito Alonso, Joventut Head Coach

QUOTES: "Tonight we won a game which we could have lost. It was a very hard game as we expected before. Our opponent Union Olimpija is a strong team which has great vision for future. And it makes it more important for us to win this game. My players did everything they could to win, like the opponent. We put enough energy and the resistance on the court tonight. Emir Preldzic rised the team up when we were down. He fired up the team and influenced the game all over. He also helped the rebounds and made a great number of assists to help his team. He played like the leader of the team. But he was not alone as the other young talents joined him in the game. Oguz Savas also made great effort to play the key role of the win. New we have to take a little rest to have another big challenge in the Turkish League against Besiktas Cola Turka this weekend." - Bogdan Tanjevic, Fenerbahce Head Coach

"First of all, I would like to congratulate my respectable colleague Bogdan Tanjevic and his team for their win. I think both sides enjoyed the game it's because the game were head to head until the end. Fenerbahce Ulker won the game after two overtimes as we lost another game with a small difference. We could win the game but we don't have luck on our side. Anyway, we will try to do everything we can to move into the next stage." - Aleksandar Dzikic, Olimpija Head Coach

Real Madrid 70 - Armani Jeans Milano 69

Quote:Louis Bullock's layup with 3.8 seconds remaining lifted Real Madrid to a hard-fought 70-69 win over Armani Jeans Milano at the Palacio Vistalgre in the Spanish capital on Thursday. Milano used a late 0-10 run thanks to Felipe Reyes’s unsportsmanlike foul on Mile Hall to take a 64-69 lead after a Luca Vitali three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining. But the visitors faltered down the stretch, turning the ball over on a 5-second violation and failing to create a good shot on offense as Madrid rallied for the win. The hosts bounced back from back-to-back losses to improve to 2-2, while Milano remains winless through four games. Reyes finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds and fouls drawn for Madrid, while Jeremiah Massey scored 15 as well. Sergio Llull added 11 and Axel Hervelle had 10 for the winners. Hall paced Milano with 21 points and 9 rebounds and David Hawkins added 13.

QUOTES:

"I cannot be happy, because it was not a good game. On the other hand, it was an important win that we took under pressure. We need more wins like this to take this pressure off our backs. There were some positive things for us, like the way Jeremiah Massey and Pepe Sanchez played together. We have to improve a lot, but it was an important, hard-fought win."- Joan Plaza, Real Madrid Head Coach

"It was a good game. We played well, but now we have the feeling that we lost a good chance to win in Madrid. We worked hard during the game and managed to keep our options alive when Madrid played better. It was a nice, balanced game, but we go back home with a bitter feeling due to a last-second loss." - Piero Bucchi, Milano Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Felipe Reyes, Real Madrid (15 points, 9 rebounds in 34 minutes)

-Jeremiah Massey, Real Madrid (15 points in 18 minutes)

Panionios On Telecoms 72 - Partizan Belgrade 67

Quote:Lonny Baxter muscled his way to a clutch basket on the offensive glass to lift Panionios On Telecoms to a 72-70 win over Partizan Belgrade on Thursday night. With the hosts up 68-66 and 20 second to go, Baxter grabbed his third offensive rebound of the game and put it in to expand the hosts’ lead to 4 points, which would be too much for the Serbian champs to overcome. The result sees both team tied for second place in Group D with Real Madrid and Efes Pilsen at 2-2. Panionios visits winless Armani Jeans Milano next week, while Partizan hosts Euroleague champion CSKA Moscow. Aaron Miles paced Panionios with 18 points and 4 assists. QUOTES: “We accomplished our job and this is the most important thing. It is always tough to beat a team which has such experience. I know them very well, don’t be deluded because they are young. They have big tradition, quality and they never quit. We could have had an easier win if we had better percentage in the free throws. I believe that we missed the killer instinct which is needed in this level. We took a double-digit lead a lot of times, but we didn’t kill them and we allowed them to come back. Since the injured players returned we have more options. Fortunately tonight we didn’t commit a lot of turnovers and also we managed to steal nine balls and make effective block outs, not to give them offensive rebounds.” - Aleksandar Trifunovic, Panionios Head Coach

“We had the possibility and the opportunity to escape with the victory, but we made mistakes in the most crucial moments and Panionios outscored us. On the other hand we missed a lot free throws and we failed to correspond to the power of the match. We are looking forward in playing them again in Belgrade." - Dusko Vujosevic, Partizan Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Aaron Miles, Panionios (18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists in 32 minutes)

-Branko Cvetkovic, Panionios (14 points, 5 rebounds in 37 minutes)

-Ionnais Kalampokis, Panionios (11 points in 26 minutes)

-Lonny Baxter, Panionios (12 points, 5 rebounds in 29 minutes)

-Milenko Tepic, Partizan (19 points, 5 assists in 32 minutes)

-Aleksandar Rasic, Partizan (12 points in 27 minutes)

-Uros Tripkovic, Partizan (11 points in 20 minutes)

CSKA Moscow 90- Efes Pilsen 68

Quote:Defending champion CSKA Moscow used a record breaking three-point shooting performance to bury visiting Efes Pilsen 90-68 in the Russian capital on Wednesday night. CSKA tied the Euroleague record with 18 three-pointers made and smashed the record for best accuracy by shooting 72% from downtown. Head coach Ettore Messina’s side improved its perfect record to 4-0 in Group D ahead of a trip to Belgrade to face Partizan next week. Meanwhile Efes Pilsen dropped its second straight to fall to 2-2. It will host Real Madrid next. The hosts never let any doubt into the outcome of the game as Zoran Planinic hit a three on the opening possession and Terrence Morris followed with triples on the next three trips downcourt as CSKA opened a big lead that it never let up. The lead grew to 38-11 in the second period and rested at 47-27 at halftime. Efes never got closer than 17 the rest of the way. Ramunas Siskauskas led the way for CSKA with 19 points on 4-for-4 three-point shooting. His last three with a minute remaining matched the most threes hit in a game this decade, 18 by Lottomatica Roma in December 2003. Morris made a career-high 5 triples en route to 17 points, while Trajan Langdon also hit 5 times to account for his 15 points. Planinic added 14 points and 8 assists and Erazem Lorbek had 11 points and 7 rebounds for CSKA, which was coming off an incredible 20-for-28 three-point effort in the Russian League over the weekend. Charles Smith had a great three-point day of his own, hitting 6 of 9 for 22 points, but it was not enough for Efes, which also got 11 points from Ender Arslan.

http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/sho...ort?gamecode=48

QUOTES: "We played a good game. We had an excellent start to the first and second halves. On defense, we did everything necessary to play against Efes's pick-'n'-rolls and shooters. But I'd like to point out: we played against a good team, so we can be satisfied with the work we did. You can look at the stats, at the number of assists, steals, rebounds to understand why." - Ettore Messina, CSKA Head Coach

"We started very bad. For me the biggest surprise was the tempo of the game. Tactically, we tried to close the paint, but Morris started to hit one three-pointer after another, though in Madrid he was 0 for 8. After this start, we went down and showed a very bad game. CSKA played its basketball and we just followed. CSKA scored 54 points from the three-pointers alone: their offense was running like in the book. It is normal to lose to CSKA in Moscow, but not like this." - Ergin Ataman, Efes Head Coach

NOTABLE PLAYERS:

-Ramunas Siskauskas, CSKA (19 points, 5 assists in 30 minutes)

-Terence Morris, CSKA (17 points, 5 rebounds in 32 minutes)

-Trajan Langdon, CSKA (15 points in 29 minutes)

-Zoran Planinic, CSKA (14 points, 8 assists, 4 steals in 21 minutes)

-Charles Smith, Efes (22 points in 25 minutes)

-Ender Arslan, Efes (11 points in 24 minutes)

It's not easy to tell that (as a passionate Besiktas fan), but Fenerbahce Ulker and Bogdan Tanjevic are doing a great job. All the "young guns", who can get a chance, show his talent. I expect a bright future for Emir Preldzic, and he should thank to his head coach who has a strong trust on him.

I should mention that Gordan Giricek, Omer Onan, Omer Asik and Semih Erden (especially two 'Omer's used to trigger the defense last year, and Giricek doesn't need any appreciation from me) are injured and couldn't take stage yet.
