Besok Leads Galatasaray Past Dexia

Huseyin Besok provided much of the firepower for Galatasaray Café Crown as they recorded an important 80-68 victory over Dexia Mons Hainaut in Tuesday's EuroChallenge Group F game.

Besok had a game-high 23 points and also pulled down 13 rebounds as his team claimed their third victory in the competition.

Both teams are now 3-2 heading into their final group game.

Galatasay controlled the opening half and went into the break with a 33-30 lead.

James Potter's three-pointer with seven minutes to play in the third quarter put Dexia in front for the first time at 44-42.

Both teams exchanged the lead before Antonio Graves nailed a three-ball to put Galatasaray in front for good with 13 minutes to go to make it 50-47.

Dexia kept the game close, however, and reduced the arrears to 70-67 with 2:25 on the clock, but the hosts hit back with a 10-0 run to claim a vital win.

Galatasaray had four players finish in double figures.

The Turkish outfit was superior shooting the ball on the night, making 20 of 38 (52.6%) inside the arc while the visitors were eight of 20 (40%).

Moreover, they committed just seven turnovers while forcing Dexia into 15.

Potter had 14 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.

// 07 January 2009

Ural Great Perm hit the Group B summit in the EuroChallenge and clinched a spot in the Top 16 with a 70-64 triumph at Telekom Baskets Bonn.

The Russian outfit improved to 4-1 with the victory.

Trailing 37-34 early in the third quarter, Darius Vashington scored four points in a 6-0 run that put the Ural Great in front for good.

The Perm side went on to outscore Telekom Baskets 24-10 in the third quarter and stayed in front for the remainder of the game.

Alexey Surovtsev scored 25 points for Ural Great, who overcame a woeful eight of 16 effort at the free throw line to win.

Telekom Baskets hurt their own cause at the charity stripe, making only 17 of 28 (60.7%).

Brandon Kyle Bowman finished with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists for Bonn, who fell to 2-3 but can still advance to the Top 16 with a good result at SAOS Hyeres in their final group game.

SAOS Hyeres will go into the game with three wins and two defeats.
