Videogames as scouting tool?
#1
Very interesting article.

Can videogames be effective to determine a player's potential and skills? Can they be trusted? I must say I was shocked when reading some NBA teams are doing that Huh

I say no, they can not be trusted.

I play sports video games for at least an hour or two a day, so I know all about them and it'd be safe to say that about half the time the stats are wrong. And they don't really have the real tendencies of the players, it's computer programmed, whereas a player goes to the area on the floor that is open, if nothing is open he does it himself. In a video game if nothing is open it's usually either a horrible shot or a turnover.

That's ridiculous. Video games are completely different than real life. Pressing A to shoot is not the same as shooting a ball from your hands.
