Eurocup final: Lietuvos Rytas vs Khimki
#1
As I said already, I think it'll be a tight game, but I have a feeling that Khimki have a slight edge. Their game has been improving steadily under Scariolo and I'm sure he's eager to hand the club a title. Lietuvos Rytas on the other hand are for the third time in a final, they know what it's all about and will be more than ready to face the Russians.

Khimki will have a walk in the park over Rytas. Any difference below 20 pts for Khimki will be a surprise for me.

Go Khimki.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

In order to win Rytas must play very well in defense to stop Khimki's stars. At the same time they must find a way keep up with their opponents' offense. It should be a close game despite the fact that Arkadios thinks otherwise.

Khimki has many great players. Meanwhile Rytas depends on three players - Eidson, Lukauskis and Petravicius. Eidson wasn't in the best shape yesterday. Lukauskis either, despite hitting a crucial shot. Petravicius got his points but if he plays that way today then Mozgov will have a blocking party. Zavackas is probably the biggest disappointment in the Final Eight for Rytas. He scored only one 3pt shot so far.

I see Khimki winning this. But it won't be an easy game.

I think Khimki has played up to 60-70%of their potential so far in order to be fresh for the final while Rytas should be exhausted right now because of their short bench. Despite the fact that Vilius believes it will be a close game, I believe the opposite <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Quote:The title game at the 2009 Eurocup Final Eight on Sunday from Turin, Italy will break records again for television coverage. With Eurocup partner Eurosport2 as lead broadcaster, the final between Lietuvos Rytas of Lithuania and BC Khimki Moscow Region of Russia will be seen in 70 countries with a potential audience of 246 million. Eurosport2's broadcast will reach 46 of those countries in Europe, Asia and Oceania. Al Jazeera will broadcast to 23 more countries in the Middle East and Africa. Lietuvos Rytas TV of Lithuania also will provide coverage in Lithuania, while Sport 5 in Israel also airs the final live and Center TV of Russia on tape delay. The success of the title-game broadcast is in addition to Eurosport 2's expansive Eurocup coverage all season long as the competition’s host broadcaster.

I'll root for the Lithuanians but Khimki stands as the favourite one. Anyway, it would be good to see Rytas in EL next year. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Good luck...

Congrats to Rytas! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Hope to watch the game later. My predictions involving Rytas always get wrong <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

What a comeback by Rytas! A great title game. Kurtinaitis surely proved he can be a good coach. To make your team do a 17-2 run in the 4th quarter is not an easy task.

For the third time we will have two teams in Euroleague. It is a great achievement for Lithuanian basketball. We should have 2 guaranteed spots and that's been proven once again.

Khimki will have to root for Rytas in LKL because if they win it then logically Eurocupo winner's license should go to the finalist.

What a surprise! It is amazing how Khimki chocked in the last quarter, and Lampe getting blocked by Jomantas really changed the game. Eidson is such a clutch player, his mid-range jumper and assist to the 3-pointer won the game for Rytas. Maccabi Pini Gershon went to Turin to scout on Eidson in the quarter-final's (and some sources in the Israeli sport media even say that Eidson already signed - but I don't really believe it), but his performance in the top-8 probably attracted much attention from more rich Euroleague club's...

By the way, I am really happy that Rytas are in the Euroleague next year, I hope they will meet Maccabi in the Euroleague, and I even hope that Rytas will win against Maccabi - every time Maccabi lost to Rytas, Maccabi went up until the final of the Euroleague... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Quote:"The Eurocup champion would retain the current prize for winning that competition, namely a one-year C Licence. If a team qualifies as Eurocup champion and later wins its national championship, the team would go to the Euroleague as national champion and the Eurocup C Licence would become a wild card."

so I guess that if Rytas would win the LKL, the C-licence would become a wild-card for the Euroleague regular season. so Khimki should root for herself in the Russian-Suproleague, or pray that the Euroleague will give her the wild-card... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

LOL. Even if I see this and I won't believe it. But I can expect just about anything from Lithuanians <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />
