In this season was created new league BBL(Balkan League Basketball).Teams from Romania,Serbia,FYROM and Bulgaria was been participated in this season. But in next season it will be expansion. This is the result of an appeal from several basketball federations in Balkans. One expansion was already planned for season 2009/2010, from 10 to 12 teams. Now it seems that the league will be expanded to additional 2 teams making the total number of participants of 14. The Board of Directors cannot at this time confirm who will participate in the next years league. But they have confirmed that the reason for yet another expansion was an increasing interest from teams in Balkans for participation. So far the participation in next year BIBL League was confirmed by Vojvodina Novi Sad as representative of Serbia, and BC Mornar Bar and BC Lovcen Cetinje as representatives from Montenegro. Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by Sloboda-Dita from Tuzla. Last confirmed was a new entry by BC Timisoara from Romania.
What was also confirmed was that the formula for entry into the league will not be changed. This means that the BIBL founding Federations (FYROM, Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania) will each give two participants, while this year Montenegro will also have 2 participants. With one team from Bosnia and Herzegovina and most likely one team from Israel, the total number of teams will be 12. Additional two places may be handed out as wild-cards to previous finalists of this competition. This would mean that BC Rabotnicki Fersped and BC Rilski Sportist as a winner would gain access. Still the final confirmation will be verified at the next Board meeting of the League.
