Quote:As Dynamo Moscow officially announced through their website the American born coach David Blatt will not be returning to his duties at the clubs for the next season.

This is their official announcement:

MBC Dynamo Moscow announced today that the team’s Head Coach David Blatt will not return to the Dynamo bench in 2009-10. Although under contract for the 2009-10 season, Head Coach, Blatt requested the club’s permission to forego his second year of the contract in order to pursue his carrier elsewhere. That permission was granted and the parties reached an agreement to mutually release each other from any obligations.

“It was a challenging season made especially difficult by the turbulent economic situation in the world. Nevertheless we managed to be a competitive team and provide a quality product for our fans and sponsors. It’s a tribute to the collective work of my staff, the players and our club managers. I am grateful to the club’s directors for understanding my desire to continue coaching in a new situation. Working in Dynamo was great experience and I wish them all possible success in the future,” commented David Blatt.

As a Head Coach David Blatt started his carrier in Hapoel Galili Elyon. In 1999 moved to coaching stuff of Maccabi Tel Aviv (Assistant Coach and Head Coach) where many times became Champion of Israel.

In 2004 David Blatt moved to Russia to coach Dynamo St.Petersburg and won FIBA Euroleague title.

In 2005 Blatt won an Italian Championship, Italian Cup and Supercup as a Head Coach of Benetton Treviso.

In 2006 was Head Coach of Efes Pilsen Istambul.

David also took over as Head Coach of the Russian National Team in 2005 and led the team to European Championship title in Spain 2007.

In 2008 Blatt became Head Coach of Dynamo Moscow and led the team to 3rd place in Regular Season of Superleague and 6th place in play off.

Combined with the intense rumours of Messina's departure to Madrid and CSKA Moscow already making a shortlist of coaches working in Russia, David Blatt being in that shortlist, we can safely presume that Blatt asked for Dynamo's permission to start negotiating with CSKA Moscow.

Blatt's experience in the Russian League with two clubs and the Russian National Team will ensure a smooth transition from the Messina era while making sure the team keeps up their high standards regarding the coaching staff, starting form the head-coach of course, and using Blatt's names to attract potential great signings.

One thing is for sure, it's a whole new day for CSKA Moscow.

Quote:Just a few hours after CSKA announced his release, Savrasenko got an offer which could keep him a Moscow resident in the upcoming season.

More spesifically Dynamo Moscow is rumoured to have made an offer to the Euroleague veteran. As Dmitriy Abarenov of Sport-Express reports the negotiations between the two sides have started and it could be a matter of days before the Police club announces the player.

Savrasenko had spent the largest part of last season on loan in Spartak St. Petersburg after a rift with his x-coach Ettore Messina at CSKA.
