I hope that Maccabi will quit from the Israeli league and take the 14th spot.

Probably because ABA is much stronger than Israeli league. It's right there behind ACB, Russia, Italia and Greece. Maccabi played some years ago, but they have to cover all travel expenses to Israel for other teams.

But i didn't heard any ruomors about Maccabi coming back to ABA. Main candidates for WC are Sloboda Dita from Bosnia and Dubrovnik, Split and Cedevita from Croatia. Krka would like to have WC card too, but they can't afford it. Yes, club will have to pay for it, sum is around 100-200k €.

No rumour... I just hope so, but it won't happen.

The Israeli league is corrupt, like a mafia.

The last team that will participate in Adriatic League is Cedevita Zagreb(from Croatia).Meaning that Croatia will once again have 4 participants in the regional championship. Cibona, Zadar and Zagreb booked a place for it regularly.Cedevita in championship was 5.

14 clubs also in the future, Nymburk joining the NLB League

The NLB League General Assembly, which was held in Ljubljana on Monday, finished with some important decisions. In the upcoming season 2010/11 the league will count 14 clubs and not 12 as it was previously decided and will also welcome a newcomer, which doesn't come from the region. The Czech club Nymburk was given one of three wild-cards for the 2010/11 season …

It is a good move for Czech basketball to have a team in Adriatic League. That will give them more high level games against Euroleague teams. Nymburk is becoming a good Eurocup level team so this should push them a bit higher. Maybe they will even qualify for Euroleague in the coming years.

BC Red Star is more than 12 million in budget minus. The account is blocked since 2004. Coat of arms of the club was sold for 300 thousand euros, began a review of documents.

BC Red Star Belgrade in the 65-anniversary of its existence is in the worst situation in its history with a budget minus at least 12 million euros, said at a press conference the club's president Vladislav Lucic.

Bad days for basketball in ex-Yu. Olimpija is on al time lowest level (financialy wise), Cibona and Zadar too, Partizan has a lot of problems every year. Some thought the recesion would be a savior for these clubs, because players would lower their salaries, others european clubs would lower their budgets, but that clearly isn't the case.

It's too bad, especially for the teams from croatia that have all those fantastic new arenas (zagreb, split, zadar) and olimpija that will have one soon.

Btw can Nymburk qualify through the Adriatic League to the EL?? i thought EL spots were given through domestic competitions...

Yeah, i though as much. still a good thing for both Nymburk who will get to face tougher competition and the Adriatic league that will have another tough contender. I also remember the 2002-2003 season (i think) with maccabi <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Although Nymburk can't participate throught Adriatic League in Euro Cups.Others like example Partizan they need to collect points. And team with most points will go to Euroleague. This is said CEO Jordi Bartomeu last year when he came to Belgrade.

Quote:The Adriatic League awarded the 2010 Adriatic League Final Four to the city of Zagreb on Friday. This is for the second time that the Croatian capital will host the final competition of the regional league in nine years…

»We had four candidates at the beginning, Vršac, Podgorica, Zagreb and Poreč. At the end of the regular season Zagreb and Vršac qualified for the next round as the strongest candidates. Althoug both candidaties were pretty similar we decided to award the reorganization to the city of Zagreb. Namely, last year he had a successful event in the big Belgrade's sports hall Arena and the city of Zagreb too was ready to organize final tournament in their biggest sport's hall, called Arena too. Therefore we succeeded to keep the continuity in hosting our main event in the biggest sport hall's in the region,« said the Adriatic League director Roman Lisac.

The Final Four Tournament semi-finals are Cibona - Union Olimpija and Partizan - Hemofarm.Zagreb for this event pay around 100.000 euros.

To bad that Serbian teams r competing in the semis. I think that Hemofarm would stand a chance against both Cibona and Olimpija because of their current problems. Partizan is favorite in this final matches, and only thing that could destroy them is their unrest. They play way to many matches during each year and our domestic league hasn't even started yet

AnywayZ, there is a rumor that Partizan will receive "A" EL liscence next year.
