U20 European Championship 2012
#1
Yesterday the U20 European Championship started. This year it is hosted by Slovenia, as a preparation for next year's Eurobasket.

Due to friendly games and home court advantage, I predict the gold medal for Slovenia! Cool

Serbia is indeed playing very good. IMO they're one of the favourites to win it all. I also expect a lot of Slovenia and Spain

At the French NT I'm really looking to see how Westermann,Gobert and Jean-Charles will do in the tournament. They both have lots of talents and I would love to see them translate that in good results

In any case, a lot of talent on every side. It is a good generation that with present seniors will make EuroBasket 2015. very interesting! Biggrin

I agree with you on that. But I have to admit, Serbia has one of the most talented groups of young players. I go so far by saying that they might have the most talented group. The future is bright for Serbia

It sure is.

+23 against Russia today! All six victories with 15+ (I think). Nice, nice!

Serbia has lost 66 to 67 against Spain! Abrines( going to Barca next season) made the winning basket for Spain. Spain has won the Bronze.

Lithuania has won against France in the final.

I surprised that Serbia didn't made it to the final. But Serbia still has an extremly talented squad and I'll be looking forward to see them play in the future

Interesting outcome at the end. Lithuania won the championship, but the interesting thing is, they wouldn't even go to quarter finals if Slovenia hadn't won the game against Spain, which had no impact on rankings in the group. Also, if France wouldn't let Greece won last game, they would play against Lithuania in the quarter finals.

Only one weak match for Serbia. Semi finals, it wasnt our day. To shoot 3's 0/8 is enough. Our best shooter (65% for 3) had 0/5 and he hit one near the end. Also, we had way too much turnovers. Lithuania didn't show anything new. They rained the triples had fastbreaks. Our defense couldn't stop em. 3rd place match was history repeating itself. Once we loose an important match, its all over, we don't need to play anymore. I hate that, but it is because we are used to being gold all the time, their generation watched our best NTs in all sports winning gold over gold. From 90's to 2000. 3rd place was a "lost gold" in Yugoslavia...

I still believe that Serbia showed best basketball on this tournament, and in a way, It is much better experience to loose important match when you are young than win it.

The youngers will get more experience. They will learn from this defeat and get even better in the future. I said it before, Serbian basketball has a very bright future
