Lithuania NT 2010

Then we need to play "run'n'shoot" <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> we have many fast players and almost all our players can make 3-pointers <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> I think Klanietis and Gecevičius may play as point guards. By the way, Gecevičius plays pick'n'roll pretty good

[/quote]

Kalnietis is a PG. He had a good season with Zalgiris, but Lithuania NT is a whole another issue.

Gecevicius could help him I suppose, but then who would shoot? And that is if he makes the final squad.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

There's no such question anymore. Kemzura openly stated, Gecevicius will be one of these guys who will try to compensate the the hole that left after Å aras.

Black Urum, yeah, I know that Kalnietis is point guard but he is kind of bad at play making ;]] He can't be main point guard ant he suits only fast attacks.

Well, if Kaukėnas play in NT, then Gecevičius or Kaukėnas could play as point guard - we don't have other choice.

By the way, we have enough other players who can shoot - Delininkaitis, Lukauskis, Jasaitis, Pocius, Seibutis. Few of them may not be stable but they can shoot well.

Will Pocius make the cut? I've watched him in many games in his 1st season but he seems to me a "home arena" player so far.

The difference in home and away games is like day and night. At least in EL games.

Now when we know that Macijauskas retired and we can only say thanks to him for these great moments in 2003, 2004, 2006, I think Pocius has very good chances to visit Turkey. Federation wants to integrate some new blood. Everything depends on Pocius, but I don't see why he shouldn't outrival such players as Delininkaitis or Lukauskas (who also are sooooo inconsistent). If Kaukėnas coming, I would pick such backourt lineup:

Kalnietis, Gecevičius, Kaukėnas, Pocius.

I think Lithuanian fans are stubborn sometimes. They make the same mistake again and again. They hope Ilgauskas will play year after year. Then they wait until last moment foe a guy who hasn't played basketball in two years, then they wait for a guy who has retired from NT a year ago.

So PG position will be covered by 1 PG, 2 SG and 1 SG-SF? How about other solutions such as Gustas?

Lithuania is a medal contender with the best player and mediocre team without them - you can't just take a research and find the replacement for such players as Šaras, Šiška, Macijauskas. And everyone who knows Ilgauskas since Kaunas Atletas times, understands what kind of influece he could give to Lith NT (he never did it unfortunately).

Kemzura will test Eitutavicius as well as Gustas and some others. IMO it's a waste of time. If he will desperately want two nominal point guards he should surely take of of the youngsters (they made a mistake not including Ž. Kelys into second NT team).

The fact that you still talk about "Ilgauskas influence" still says a lot. I say just move on. Plenty of talents in Lithuania.

The U16 has 31 players at the moment, I don't think any NT has such number of players.

I don't have any hope or even desire to see Ilgauskas in NT team anymore, he missed his chances and he openly declared he'll never play for NT. Shows over. That doesn't deny that fact he was one of the biggest losses of Lith NT history.

All NT have their losses, some more than others. In any case I believe this WC will be considered as a test flight for Eurobasket 2011.

I remember it was the case in 1996 Euro with France football NT, they could do better than they did, but they used it to promote new faces and won World Cup at home two years later.

Now help me decide, Brazil-North Korea or Caja Laboral-Barcelona? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Mellow' />

Good times have come everywhere. Greek Basketball Federation was a guarantor for AEK Athens when they signed Pavic some years ago... he left years ago, AEK still owes him money and FIBA Europe told Greek Federation if they don't pay in some weeks, Greece will be kicked out of WC <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />

If the above happens then the failure is guaranteed for the second year in a row. Though I have doubts whether LKF is just trying to get a sponsor by spreading such news.

I was right. News about Kleiza was just a part of a PR plan to get betting company TonyBet as the main sponsor. In fact, Kleiza is supposed to participate in the press conference in which the new main sponsor will be announced.

Looks like we are headed to a repeat of Eurobasket 2009 'success'. As expected Kaukėnas will not play for the NT.

The roster of B team has also been changed:

Aidas Viskontas (Perlas, Lithuania)

Adas Juškevičius (Žalgiris, Lithuania)

Martynas Mažeika (AEK, Greece)

Arvydas Eitutavičius (Cholet Basket, France)

Renaldas Seibutis (Bilbao, Spain)

Deividas Gailius (Å iauliai, Lithuania; signed with Virtus Bologna, Italy)

Arvydas Šikšnius (Šiauliai, Lithuania; signed with Lietuvos Rytas, Lithuania)

Mindaugas Kuzminskas (Šiauliai, Lithuania; signed with Žalgiris, Lithuania)

Valdas Vasylius (Krasnye Krylia, Russia)

Valdas Dabkus (InterCollege Etha Engomis, Cyprus)

Tadas Klimavičius (Žalgiris, Lithuania)

Martynas Andriuškevičius (Alicante, Spain)

Yes, Petravicius is out as well. At least we have several big men that can step up.

The list will probably be announced in late July.

Preliminary was announced back in May http://www.talkbasket.net/news/official-...-3006.html It has changed since as some players decided not to play. And the B squad was changed as well.
