Aron Baynes

Team: Lietuvos Rytas
Height: 2.08
Born: 9 December, 1986
Nationality: Australian
Position: Center
Number: 31
College: Washing. St

Baynes made his pro debut this year in Europe with Lietuvos Rytas. He is still struggling adjusting to European style of play and slowly making progress. He already played some minutes for Australian national team last summer. Baynes has strong body build but he still needs to learn to use it better. He gets in a foul trouble very often and many of his fouls are unnecessary which makes them even more costly to the team.

Lietuvos Rytas head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis who is famous for making memorable quotes once said about Baynes: "If Russians are able to teach a bear to ride a bicycle then we can teach Baynes to play basketball".

Do you think Baynes could become another good big from Australia? They already have Bogut, Andersen, Anstey (is he still playing?). Will Baynes be called up for Australia in World Championship in Turkey later this year?

Yeah Anstey is still playing - in the NBL i believe.

What's pathetic though is that there's only like 6 teams in the NBL. Australian basketball sucks...I hate living here...

Who would have thought Baynes would be an NBA player a few years from the first post in this thread. Although he's not playing an important role but he still remains in the league. Baynes is also doing quite good on international stage for Australia.
