80% tax to non-Europian players????
[/quote]
No. All players in Greek League that make 100k euros or more per season get taxed at 80% more now with the new tax laws in Greece.
If you will notice neither PAO, nor Olympiacos has done anything all summer except PAO re-signed Diamantidis BEFORE the tax laws suddenly changed. Neither team is serious about doing anything until they know exactly what is going to happen with the taxes.
And Olympiacos isn't signing anyone because of that until they know for sure that they can get rid of Josh Childress' contract. He is scheduled to make 5.5 million euros plus the cost of 80% higher taxes. He has untilt he 15th of July to opt out of his contract and sign with an NBA team.
So obviously Olympiacos isn't doing anything until they know that Childress is gone.
Anyone that does not know about the problems with PAO and Olympiacos with the new taxes that claims to be Greek, live in Greece, and can supposedly read Greek, is definitely lying to you. There have been so many articles about the taxes in Greece. It would be literally impossible for a Greek to not know about it.
Saras, Spanoulis, Batiste, Nicholas, etc. it's all being held up by the taxes and Childress' opt out situation. Soon the Greek League will have a definitive answer on if the state is going to keep the 80% more higher from the tax or not and Childress has to opt out by the 15th. Once these two things pass then we will know rather quickly what is happening.
If you would notice ALL the Greek clubs have been totally silent this summer in transfers.
