To entirely discount NCAA statistics is illogical. True It is a lower level of competion BUT is someone is averaging 4 - 5 assist a season this means the guy can pass. That is a simple fact. he "can" pass. Now can Collins do this at a higher level of competition becomes the next question. To answer that question you have to look deeper into his body of work. This is what I know of Sharron Collins:
Sharron Collins
He attended historic Kansas University. Known for being a school for excellent coaching and good fundementals.
Freshman year:He averaged 22.3 minutes and 9.3 points per game. He led Kansas in scoring five times and in assists on 12 occasions.(he's a passer)
Sophmore year: 2008 national championship, averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 assists in the NCAA tournament.(he's a winner in a good system)
Junior Year:All the starters from the previous year graduated or went to NBA. Collins led the 2008â09 Jayhawks in points, minutes, assists and free-throw percentage. (He's a leader)
Senior year: Yep he played for 4 years. He recieved many awards for his colllge career achivements. He became a better scorer and his assits per season went up. (He can be coached)
Summary:
PLUS/GOOD:
This is what we know. He's from Chicago so he played at an elite high School level. Sharron Collins is a national champion that was coached for 4 years by Bill Self and Danny Ainge. He can lead a team. His passing/assists stats increased consistantly throughout his college career. Meaning he is a passer for all for years of his career. There is no reason to think that Collins will not pass. He has did it at his entire career. I am Ignornat of how many people watch Euroleague or how many fans of Rytas exist. Collins played on maybe the biggest stage of American colligate basketball. NCAA tornament is very big and well sponsered. Kansas University is the most historic basketball program in the world bar none. Kansas has one of the largest/most loyal fanbases of any institution anywhere in the states. Population of Kansas is about 3 million and most of them are Jayhawk(Kansas) fans. My point is he played and won a championship under great pressure. He can take pressure on the highest stage
+Ball handling A+
+37% 3 point
+47% 2point
+4+ assists
+86% Free Throws (he gets to the line alot and makes them)
+Averaged 34 minutes per game Junior and Senior year
BAD/MINUS
He only has second tier athlecism. For example his "athletic ability" is similar to Steve Nash, Jason Kidd. He is below Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook.
Injuries: He has had left knee problems
QUESTIONABLE/???
Stuff we dont know:
Can he adjust to a different culture? not sure
Can he adjust to a different enviorment? not sure
Can he adjust to the style of game? probably still not sure.
He is young with little professional experience BUT shows promise and willing to learn. Will Rytas coaches be patient and help him grow?
