I had some foreigner friends about 10 years ago about because of my job at the time and they told me a concept "Sultanahmet Tax". Yes tourists are being milked brutally , I know that. Iknow chinese goods too but there are genuine goods too as you already mentioned.

Özsüt , of course I know taht chain, my wife loves it, I like Mado more, though. Listen if you come back to Taksim again eat profiterol at İnci. It is an old 19 century cafe , unique tradition great taste. You should try it.

Whose desert is baklava ? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Heh heh, yeah I love Ozsut <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> I don't know about the other chains you mentioned. Basically Ozsut is on the main street that the tram car runs, and it's also on Sultanahmet's main uphill road. Where can I find Inci? I was using the Lonely Planet guide to find places, but I don't remember it being mentioned in the guide anywhere? Maybe it's one of those cool places off of the beaten track that the locals only know about?

Now about baklava, god knows, I've discovered that the food that you and i think exist in the Mediterranean region and Northern Africa, well those things go as far as Serbia (from what I'm aware of), believe it or not.

We have a world-famous cuisine anyway, so you can have baklava as far as I'm concerned <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

Honestly we don't stuff baklava-type filo pastry syrupy sweets usually, it's only around festive seasons. I think we're definitely more into our French patisserie sweets. If you ever go to Thessaloniki, there's so much amazing food for you to eat, guaranteed you'll be leaving 5 kg heavier <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />
