I don't know about Aris, I'm not a supporter of theirs so can't really say, but any part of Greece that is 'New', so for example in Halkidiki we have 'New Marmaras' which is a region of concentration of refugees from original Marmaras who driven out in 1922 in the micro-Asian disaster. It is likely that Aris did have some refugees of the sort in the founding of the team. My grandmother hails from Galata, which is coming from the name of milk in Greek- 'gala' and was the neighbourhood where all the rich producers of milk and milk products lived in extremely grand villas that still stand today and are part of Constantinople's rich tapestry.

Yeah , there are very beautiful and big buildings from 19th century in Galata. But it is not a city center now, Galata (Former non-muslim city center) and Eminönü (Former muslim city center) are socially dead places , there is only daytime population now.
Marmaras refer to aegean tow marmaris of sea of marmara ?
