2010/11 season signings and rumours
According to one of Serbia's daily newspaper, Dragan Todoric stated that Partizan has received acceptable offer for Alex Maric and that they will accept it. He said that it will be more clearer in a day or two.

From which team?

hey..as long as the team is unknown let's go celebrate that Maric is coming to Maccabi..then when they'd announce it's PAO we can be disappointed..that's the natural order of things

Fenerbahce?

According to a blogger who supposedly has inside info at both Lithuanian powerhouses (link), 'Romanov refused to consider Jankūnas offer so that Rytas can do that'. This might be pure BS but since there's no news today I thought I'd post it here.

The team remains unknown <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Today this news is published in other newspapers.

We (Partizan Fans) are also eager to find out which team is ruining our plans for win in Torino Barcelona next year <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

I think he could be great for Europe

average-good player for the NBA but top player for Europe
Sorry, but I don't think so.

It's probably Olympiacos. It's well known that Ivkovic loves Maric.

BTW, can someone explain this to me......

http://www.talkbasket.net/blogs/who-is-w...-3502.html

In addition to that his vertical jump is reported to be a whole 72cm.

I don't get it. What's the big deal? Is that supposed to be impressive or something? Vougioukas, Bourousis, Sofo, Koufos etc. all have much better verticals than that.

No. It's Fener/Ulker.

yeah I'm also betting on Oly or PAO(my first guess was PAO)

but if it's a different team..maybe Caja although they don't have a lot of money(from what I understand)

Well, it's just that Ivkovic loves Maric and supposedly the Angelopouloi brothers (Olympiacos owners) are letting him make every single roster decision. The first thing was with him wanting Spanoulis and so far it seems to continue that way.

And we know Olympiacos can pay the 800K to 1 million euro buyout that Partizan wants.
Maric?? I suppose now that Partizan has an "acceptable" bid. They are waiting a day to see if anyone will top the offer in hand. Too bad that Partizan is having trouble keeping the team that was so successful intact. If Partizan chooses to keep Vesley, Kecman, and maybe, just maybe Roberts or McCalebb, they will have a strong nucleus to work with. They may be close to starting again from scratch which is tough for a first year coach.

Matjaz Smodis could leave CSKA Moscow

What teams have expressed interesting in him?

Is he fit to play?
Yeah I don't really know if he is fit to play. Hopefully he can still perform like in the past, and not get blasted by his injury and lose a lot of his skill like other players that have moved from Maccabi to Olybiakos <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

I doubt it. When CSKA played him in the semifinal against Barcelona I thought it cost them the game. I think CSKA would have won the game if they kept him on the bench. I don't see anyone touching him with such a huge salary. I would expect him to either be in CSKA in a limited role or to be released if he can't perform anymore.

This is what Partizan does every single year. Every single year they sell their best players. Then they use that money to bring in more young players with good potential. Then they do it over again. 2 years ago it was Pekovic, last year it was Tepic, and this year it is Maric. Kecman already re-signed with Partizan. Vesely isn't going anywhere for now. He won't be leaving until they can sell him for top dollar, which again, is their whole strategy. So maybe next year he will be shopped for a buyout.

If they get what they are asking for Maric, then they will have a bigger budget than they did in recent years. As far as McCalebb goes, he is going to have to lower his salary demands or he is not signing anywhere. He still wants 1 million euros net and no team is biting at all. Like I said earlier, I would think 700,000 euros a season is more what he would command.

He had a great season and was All-Euroleague Second Team in his first season, but just one good year does not make you worth what he is asking for. He would have to have at least 2 seasons on that level I think to ask for that kind of money. Maybe I'm wrong and he will get it somewhere, but I doubt it. Who knows, maybe if Partizan gets that huge buyout for Maric, maybe they will sign him if he accepts a more reasonable salary.

But it does not fit to Partizan's operating procedures. They just don't give more than about 300,000 euros salary in a season and McCalebb could certainly get more than that in another club.

Great insight into the way things work at Partizan! I thought that with a new sponsor in place the need to sell players would stop. Many teams with a stable budget retain their best players every year. If Partzan take the Maric money and their sponsorship money together couldn't they keep Roberts and McCalebb at a reasonable figure? Kecman at the 2, Vesley at the 3, Roberts at the 4, and Bo at the 1 could compete for a Euroleague championship.

Regarding Maric, If I were looking for a center I would pay more for Maric at 28 minutes than Sofo for 20 minutes!
according to kosarka.rs Maric is going to be PAO's new player
