Semi final: Turkey-Serbia
#1
Man this is going to be a classic...

Still I give a slight advantage to Turkey...
Respect and thanks for everything:

Turkey is a paper tiger. If the Serbians drain 3-4 shots from downtown on them, they'll freeze. Turkey has the advantage size-wise but isn't as mentally tough as Serbia is especially with Ivkovic's knowledge of coaching a team. As long as the long-range shots go in (so far they have), Serbia can run with anyone.

Turkey's bus stops here. The Serbs will knock them off to reach the final.

This is going to be one hell of a game. Turkey has been straight cruising through this tourney but the Serbs should never be counted out. I'd have to give the edge to the Turks who will obviously have the home court advantage not too mention they've been killing it at these WCs. I think the Serbs might have blown their load against Spain. But hell, that's why they play the game right, no guarantees in basketball.

^ Even if Serbia did blow their load with Spain, Turkey isn't a quality team enough to knock out Serbia. For that matter Turkey doesn't even come close to the second-class quality Spain displayed this year. Serbia can pretty much destroy Turkey's height advantage by fast drives and nailing threes. If all else fails they have their 3p shooting to always fall back upon. Ivkovic is also one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time and has managed his team with great skill.

Turkey's on fire. They'll win it. I don't know what are you thinking, but from what I saw, I can say, Turkey is playing one of the best basketball in all tournament. Maybe just USA plays beeter.

As units, Turkey has some great players, and I'm especially talking about the younger players Erden (Asik is a brick) Guler, and of course Ilyasova the Uzbek (who incidentally never sings along the Turkish national anthem <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> LOL). So far Turkey has had an easy ride, and I haven't seen a game yet where they are under pressure and as a team they are able to pull through. I've seen plenty of instances that when things go bad for them, they just keep going down and down and their psychology nearly never allows them to level a game's score again. I'm telling you Turkey is a paper tiger, and they still don't have the experience that this young Serbian squad has.

I like Asik more, if he could only shoot free throws he would be world class...

The real brick is Savas...

I think we can win this one. On the paper, Tukey is weaker team than Spain, but they play at home...

Yeah Savas doesn't get much time because of this. Erden is the best big man Turkey has produced so far, Asik is just a piece of meat, too much of a 'classic' center.

Also Turkey doesn't deserve the moniker of 'classic' in any of the games they play, they haven't proved themselves as a team, and they're only doing well because they're playing home. Last year they looked like they were set for the gold medal and we knocked 'em out without breaking much of a sweat.

Oh, and I told you all before that the whole FIBA competitions are just geared towards favouring FIBA's 'golden boys' :|

Turkey has a home court advantage but I believe that Ivkovic could prepare his team better for this game. Serbia has already been in a similar situation last year and they were younger.

I am just afraid of the Reffs, nothing else...

But I think that Serbia regained much of the respect it once had, so the reffering should be good...

I was enjoying the game and was pulling for Turkey but that fake injury by Asik was horse shit. Come on, he's a horrible free throw shooter, if you don't want him to miss free throws, don't play him. Faking an injury to avoid taking the free throws was ridiculous. I was sincerely hoping Serbia would pull this out after that.

I hope the US blows out Turkey in the final.

Referees 83 : Serbia 82

I've never watched a more disgusting final in all the years (17) I've watched basketball. Turkey should have received 5-6 technicals for yelling and screaming at the refs, Onan hitting Teodosic in the face (Onan tried to start a brawl twice in the game), etc. etc., etc.

It really makes you sick when you see a team reach the world finals not due to them being the better team but having AGAIN the no-holds barred support from the refs. I've never watched a game before where the refs literally destroyed Serbia's brilliant effort in the whole game.
