I always root for Slovenia when it comes to international competition, but I don't really know why. I think it's because they have so much talent per-capita. I mean the entire country has less people than Chicago yet they have been able to produce a constant flow of NBA talent.

During the interview, Italian league MVP Omar Abdul Thomas (SF, 197) stated, that he would like to play for Slovenian NT. He already has Slovenian passport, because his grandmother is Slovenian.

That about his grandmother was a joke... He said that he never was in Slovenia and that his agent got him slovenian passport... How is that possible?! I don't know. But as a foreign player we already have Mirza Begic so... No room in our NT for Mr. Black Jesus i guess.

Probably Mirza Begic? Well... He talked to Bozidar Maljkovic and said to him that he can count on him... But yeah i won't be surprised if he changed his mind. If you ask me... I'd rather have Thomas cause we only have one real SF in Bostjan Nachbar. So we are really thin on that position. But i don't know... That is just my opinion...

Video of Slovenian NT coach Bozidar Maljkovic speaking about Slovenian, Yugoslav and general basketball. Very interesting, but knowledge of Serbian or Slovenian language is required.

Ministry of the Interior said, that no one with name Omar Thomas has Slovenian citizenship, so it seems he has a fake Passport. And this is it.

Hope to see Zupan playing in the 2011 Eurobasket! He's the best Slovenian player I've seen since Zdovc <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />
EDIT: And of course Smodis too, back from his glory days with CSKA Moscow, too bad he's nowhere near as good any more.

That's too bad, I'm sure he could have helped the NT out a lot.

Why not? He had a better season than last season when he played in WC...

Maljkovic decided that this year he will not invite Miha Zupan and also Sani Becirovic. I wouldn't say that this is a shocking decision but it is kinda weird decision.

I agree, but this year Lorbek is returning, maybe Smodis, so Maljkovic decided he probably won't call Zupan. It's a little surprising ...
