Anybody going to the games?
#1
Tickets went on sale on Thursday and Lithuania's games + the final and semi-finals sold out quicker than a hiccup. Anbody planning on going to any of the games?

I just bought my tickets to the two quarter-final games in Kaunas on the 14th. I can't wait! I'm also really excited to see the new Zalgiris arena. It was a difficult decision between the quarter-final games on the 14th and 15th.

Bascially, if Lithuania makes it to the second group stage and ends up in first or third place, they will play during the games that I am going to. If they finish second of fourth, they will play the next day. If they finish worse than fourth, the entire country will riot.

Fingers crossed for some positive results!

I have no tickets. ;/ But I still may get to some other games...I even don't think about getting tickets for Lithuanian games...

However, as for foreigners, I would say that if Lithuania won't advance (I hope, we will) very far, then foreigners could buy some tickets from Lithuanians.

And, Skangles, when last time have you visited Lithuania? ;]

There will be so many good games to go to; however, I'm quite surprised how incredibly expensive tickets are.

I haven't been to Lithuania since Christmas of 2009, so it will be nice to go back. When I was living in Europe I used to visit every few months.

I was studying at Vilniaus Universitetas in 2006-2007 and my wife is Lithuanian so we'll always be at home in Lietuva. I do miss the days of going to Lietuvos Rytas games on a regular basis, when I was there they signed Kareem Rush mid-season. He completely rejuvenated the team, an incredible signing.

I've only been to one international game: An exhibition between Lithuania and Iceland back in 2008. Something tells me the Eurobasket Quarter-finals will be a slightly more intense atmosphere.

Glad to hear that foreigners like Lithuanian teams and don't look at Lithuania only with bad opinion. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

It's on coast of the Baltic sea. City is 3rd by size in Lithuania...during hot period of time (end of spring, summer, start of autumn) there are many activities, there also are some interesting places for tourists but despite that Klaipėda isn't very active city.

Klaipeda has a unique feel. It was formerly controlled by the Germans and has distinctly German architecture. Like Sagenas said, it's on the sea and is the primary access point for the Curonian Spit (UNESCO World Heritage site). It is also a short skip away from Palanga, which is the pride and joy of all Lithuanians. Palanga is basically a beach town with good food/nightlife that is a focal point for Lithuanian getaways.

I really like Klaipeda, I think that it is a very nice city; however, because it is so unique if Klaipeda was to be the only city on your Lithuanian itinerary you would not get an adequate representation of Lithuania. Make sure you visit either Vilnius and/or Kaunas.

The downside of Klaipeda is also its strength: Location. Whilst Klaipeda's seaside location is a fantastic attribute, it is also about a 5 hour train ride from Vilnius making it quite the excursion to go back and forth.
