1st Group Stage - Day 2
#21
Slovenia's win against the Ukraine was entirely unconvincing. Leading the match with a 21 point difference and then losing it, giving a chance to the other side to hope they can clinch the win is something unexcusable from a supposedly traditional basketball team that Slovenia is.

Is well known that Slovenia is not the most disciplined team of the tournament. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

Also Slovenia is capable for the best(for the "good" would be more correct!) and for the worst. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

If we don't beat Serbia we're out, and I've watched both games of Israel and both games of Serbia and I can tell for sure that they're 10 levels ahead of us.. I guess it's game over for us, at least we have 3 games left I hope we can earn some of our respect back by winning at least one game. No fighting by Israel at all in 2 games this is unacceptable.

You can blame FIBA for sucks draw.Specially Group C ,but it's not far away Group D <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Mellow' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Also players don't have rest one day between games <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I hope they will change that.

Slovenia remembers that classic semi against us were they were in the lead +11, 90 seconds left, with Matjas Smodis high-fiving the whole Slovenian bench, and handcuffs were put on on Lakovic, and it was lights out for Slovenia, right at the end with Papaloukas sealing it with a last second bucket from a lay up <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

^ LOL, somehow I don't see that happening.

I hope we have a nice healthy game this time round, get to run all our plays against the Finns and have a good solid practice match <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Georgia tried to defend their right to export Borjomi Water but in the end Russia prevailed. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Lithuania was on fire today. Kalnietis had a big game and it was good to see Valanciunas get some minutes. Valanciunas finished a few Alley Oops but fumbled the ball on several occassions.

Draw is hard, the expansion Is stupid but blaming FIBA won't help.. This is the situation and no matter how hard or unfair it may look you gotta deal with it.. And I wouldn't be as disappointed if I knew the team did its best but it wasn't enough, I wouldn't be as disappointed if they were at least fighting but they all (with few exceptions like Pnini and Ohayon) act as if they're superstars, jumping on the floor would just make their cloths dirty.. Any past generation would be disgusted by the way they play. Our trademark used to be the fighting spirit and in the last 2 games (and the 2009 ECool it seems like these players are not familiar with these 2 words.. And worst thing is that the 3 coach staff is made of 3 coaches that are more politicians than coaches, and none of them is a coach that lives the game, they come with a plan and if it doesn't work that's it. And about the politicians part, this is the reason why guys like burstein who's beyond useless get around 20 minutes per game, Halperin (don't let the 15 points yesterday confuse you) gets too many minutes while guys like Naimy and Nissim that could give much more in their place barely get the chance, when they do they prove themselves. That's why a player like Kadir, 2.01 PF plays as 5 for 15-20 minutes per game with no production offensively and almost no defense while Kukia that proved to be great in the qualis campaign with great defense in the C position and great rebounding abilities didn't get one minute this EB which is extremely weird not only because we faced productive centers that we had hard time to stop but also we were outrebounded twice.

Blaming FIBA wouldn't help, because this is FIBA and it won't change, blaming the shame that this coaching staff is might help get a decent replacement.

The only way we could wake up is if the coaching staff will wake up, start reacting inside the game and the players would decide to start fighting for their respect, for our respect. But I doubt it would happen..

Kadir surprised me, I was right about Nissim though. If you've seen him play in the preparation you could tell he's our better PG but he didn't get enough minutes in the first 2 games.

Halperin was productive but only at the beginning, after that he couldn't buy a basket but still barely got off court.

And you could definitely see what I meant about Burstein right?

Of course <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But i think that Israel federation should try to put Blat for head coach of NT.That will bring something <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

There's a funny story with Blatt (that is actually sad from our POV) he was supposed to coach the team but or stupid ASSociation insisted on some stupid thing with the manager diploma or something and he left us for bureaucracy sh*t, went to Russia and we all know how it ended.. I doubt he'd like this headache again, after such treatment not many people would like to come back.
