Final Four 2010 - kobimel - Apr 2, 2010 Friday, May 7th: Semi-Finals Partizan Belgrade vs Olympiacos CSKA Moscow vs FC Barcelona Sunday, May 9th: Euroleague Finals ??? vs ??? Stay tuned. Partizan with an incredible upset, 3-1 win over Maccabi, face the tough team from Athens which is looking for it's second Euroleague title, Olympiacos. Both teams suffer from lack of experience at this level, but Olympiacos were in the Final Four last year, and that will be in their favor. CSKA vs Barca face off in a battle of European giants (CSKA with in its 8th consecutive Final Four, Barcelona in its 11th total, both records), with Barcelona looking like the clear favorites to advance and also to win the Finals. CSKA are in an unfamiliar underdog position, but proven winners like Holden, Siskauskas and Langdon may be able to lead them to a surprising win. Final Four 2010 - suricata - Apr 6, 2010 I'll be rooting for Partizan of course, but i think Barca will win it this time, unless they choke. Of course Barca are facing CSKA, who aside from being experienced also seem to be able to match Barca's game style as proven last year. In any case I don't want Oly to win it (not that they are not capable) since i'm a pao fan, and i wouldn't like CSKA cause they would be widening their margin in overall titles from panathinaikos. If i'm not mistaken Real holds 8 titles, CSKA 6 and Pao 5 Final Four 2010 - Led00 - Apr 6, 2010 Before the EL was hooked up, I wanted to c Barca-Oly finals. But now, I don't know what to expect between Oly-Partizan match. I mean, Oly is clear favorite, but, damn, it doesn't mean anything when Partizan is playing good. Not just because I love them, but because of it's status. I would love to c any "poorer" club wining the EL, cause that would mean that sport still lives! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And I would destroy Real Madrid institution completely for doing everything opposite of sport. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Final Four 2010 - stefans - May 2, 2010 Quote:"Euroleague Basketball F4 is the best club event on the planet," writes American Sports Ilustrated to announce the tournament to be played in Paris on 7 to 9 May. Final Four 2010 - TalkBasket - May 7, 2010 Quote:Barca outlast CSKA http://www.talkbasket.net/news/barca-outlast-cska-3023.html Final Four 2010 - kobimel - May 7, 2010 Well, I misfired by 20 points, but at least I nearly got the difference right (10). <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Partizan-Olympiacos has been great so far. A joy to watch, really smart basketball on both sides. Final Four 2010 - kobimel - May 7, 2010 ahh Partizan...so close...that was an incredible game (and my prediction was almost exactly correct <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />). Final Four 2010 - stefans - May 8, 2010 Partizan had play great game..but less of luck.Fans were enchanted with the game. For Partizan Fans this is huge success. Final Four 2010 - stefans - May 9, 2010 Partizan again out of lack.. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Barca new CHAMPION!!! They play best basketball maybe in whole world.Only two lose against Partizan and Real Madrid...I think that if Partizan had played in final they will lose less than Olympiacos... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Final Four 2010 - ZEUS - May 10, 2010 The final was a great game, definitely from the side of Barcelona, Pascual showed Yannakis what it means to be a REAL coach and instill a sense of winner's psychology into a team. Partizan proved that the highest budgets don't necessary stand in the running for winning a title, they were really unlucky in the semi-finals in overtime, that's where their flaws were uncovered by not being to last long enough, and have enough bench depth to keep running with Olybiakos while having to deal with tiredness and pressure at the same time. Olybiakos had a very poor game, especially offensively, and that is once more characteristic of Yannakis lack of skill in coaching, you just can't keep winning basketball matches only with defense, that's why as a coach he's only reached second best in the world and second best in Europe. His 'coaching' is too narrow-minded for the time being, revealing quite a lack of experience in handling such great players that Olybiakos possesses. He should start coaching again as an assistant coach for Messina or Obradovic to learn how it's REALLY done. You need IQ to handle a team that's destined for the F4, not just balls. Final Four 2010 - TalkBasket - May 10, 2010 Welcome to the forum ZEUS <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> That was a nice summary of the whole F4. Barcelona deserved to win it all because they played the best basketball the whole year and they didn't stop doing that in Paris. Partizan should have been in the final instead of Olympiacos and the final game just confirmed that in my opinion. The main weakness of Olympiacos is their coach. Giannakis couldn't make his team play the way they could potentially do it. The final was a disappointment for a neutral fan. At least Partizan gave us too exciting games. Final Four 2010 - Led00 - May 10, 2010 Have to agree there. Trough the whole year we r all listening about Barca-Oly finals! I have to admit that both Partizan games where much better then the finals. Oly disappointed me a lot in the finals. Barca demolished them... Partizan could've done it better... Final Four 2010 - ZEUS - May 11, 2010 Thanks for the welcome <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Well that's the annoying thing!!! Olybiakos has such AMAZING units as players, but I mean I can't understand how it is possible that every team Yannakis coaches, it has an abysmal FT %???????? Oly would be breezing through most games if they had their FT % at a stable 75% or so which is logical for the quality of players on the team. I mean I can't understand how it was possible that great offensive players like Kleiza, Bouroussis, Childress, were locked down in the final with Yannakis not being able to provide an answer how to break the Barca defense???? Teodosic was somewhat saved from the train wreck, but he did f*** up a lot in the semi final, and was just lucky that Childress converted his last 3p shot into a follow dunk. Honestly the only guy who was playing with complete heart and giving it his all was Big Sofo, but still he wasn't getting the ball as much as he should have. Honestly, the only guy I've ever seen own Big Sofo was Shaquille O'Neal himself when Olybiakos played a friendly against the Cavaliers in the US last year. Sophocles is a good lad who just needs to keep on maturing, he's done a lot of it lately, playing a lot more with his brain than with his super massive size. This boy deserves to be crowned Euroleague champion soon. Final Four 2010 - TalkBasket - May 11, 2010 Speaking about Olympiacos, they should replace Giannakis with a better coach or rather a coach who fits the style of his players. The club surely has enough money to bring any coach they want. Final Four 2010 - ZEUS - May 11, 2010 Of course! Olybiakos even made an offer to Kobe Bryant to come over to play!!!!!! They were offering him a luxurious villa complete with chef specialising in US food, and most of all 10 million Euros a year TAX FREE!!!!!!!! The offer was something like 3 times what he makes playing with the Lakers each year!!!! In that way, yes Oly doesn't have any problem in paying for any coach that they desire. Yannakis simply isn't experienced enough, or clever enough to bring a team, any team, to the highest echelons of basketball greatness. He may do so after more years of coaching, but right now he's not one of the better coaches out there. He's a self-obsessed twat. |
