MTA won't pay 850K to a young C. No way.

At €850,000 euros per season he is a very good deal IMO. He can score in the low post and he can shoot out to the 3 point line. He's a good rebounder and an excellent shot blocker. To me he's a much better center than what Maccabi has had in recent years.

I guess PAO and Olympiacos are not interested in him but they should be. He's the second best Greek center after Bourousis at the moment IMO.
wow...only second to Bourousis? that's..pretty weird that no one wnats him <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

sport 5 says that maccabi are in negotiation with JAMONT GORDON
I'm not a 100% sure that they didn't get confused

I mean..they probably heard JamoN Gordon and didn't find one cause the one from Greece goes by the name Jamon LucaS(his full name is Jamon Lucas Gordon)..so they looked and they looked for Jamon Gordon and found the next closest thing..JamonT Gordon and thought that well..they just didn't hear their sources well over the phone and they said JamonT and not Jamon

god I love conspiracy theories

HEY!! let's hope! don't ruin the party!

and I'm not sure that it's that different from what they would have payed Raduljica

He averaged 14 points and 6 rebounds in A1 for a team that made the last four. He averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds in Eurocup with a 12.4 ranking for a team that made the last 4. He led the A1 in blocks and was third in blocks in the Eurocup. For a 2.11 center that is entering his prime I am sure he can get that much from some club. If not Maccabi then PAO.

It's stupid that ULEB calls Jamon Gordon by the name Jamon Lucas. They do that because supposedly it makes it easy to distinguish him from Jamont Gordon. But still, it's stupid because when someone uses Jamon Lucas' real name of Jamon Gordon then people think they are talking about Jamont Gordon.

Just call Jamon Gordon by his full name of Jamon Lucas Gordon and that would solve the problem. But apparently that's too hard for ULEB to figure out.

What are the taxes in Greece?
They are 44.25% for players that earn a million euros or more per season and 41.5% for players that earn less than a million euros per season.

http://sport24.gr/html/ent/347/ent.370347.asp

Unfortunately, the tax might be raised to 80% and if this does in fact happen as the government wants then the A1 will close.

80 % tax will kill the sport

2010/11 season signings and rumours - Black Urum - 06-25-2010

Vouyoukas is a 10 minutes player for a Maccabi calibre team. He already tried to play for a top EL club, Olympiacos and failed.

He is a good blocker, knows basics very well, posts well and is strong. But he lacks in character, he has weak mentality, very quiet guy. I would pick him over Lasme if I wanted to score more, if I wanted better defence I would keep Lasme.
he can shoot out to the 3 point line
Vouyoukas had 1/11 threepointers in both Greek A1 and Eurocup last season and with the line going half a meter back, Vouyoukas is not a shooting player.

Overall a good, honest signing by Maccabi, but don't expect anything more than 10-12 minutes, 5-6 points, 3-4 rebounds, in Euroleague games. And don't expect him to be a leader, he has no mentality for that.

No, the tax is about 45%. Just the clubs billionaire president are using creative accounting to b*tch about it.

For example players signs 1.8m contract, 45% of that is tax and it is about 800K euros.

But the president say, since he is getting 1M net and other 800K goes to tax, the tax is 80%. Well they are lying and think people are stupid...

The tax is 45%... not 80%, it's simple maths.

And no it will not kill nor sports and basketball. Greece owes 350 fucking billions right now and 15% of Greeks can't even get a 800 euros per month job right now. So screw players and presidents who b*tch about contracts worth millions. If government had balls they should make the taxes 100%, not just 45%. It is time for billionaires and privileges people like millionaire basketball players pay their dues and help out the country.

I don't see a chance of him playing 10-12 minutes Per game..if we'll have him and Foote..obviously he'd be our 1st center so he would have to play a lot more then 10-12 minutes a night

2010/11 season signings and rumours - Freddito - 06-25-2010

Vougioukas is a good signing for top EL teams because:

1. He won't complain about the mins he plays, and he'll do his best.

2. Inside score, blocks, 75-80% free throws.

Vougioukas is not a good signing for top EL teams because:

1. Top EL teams need players at any min. Players with character that can make the difference. He's soooooo NOT THAT kind of player.

And he can't shoot 3 pointers!!!

PS 850 K $ for 2 years.... Not each yaer.

Siskauskas, and Scola on Ivkovic' shortlist.

Unicaja makes a bid for McIntyre.

Shumpert, Smith, Kasun out of Efes Pilsen.

Jamon Lucas has decided to change his name because of family reasons.

Power Electronics Valencia, close to sign Doron Perkins

Power Electronics could be finally the next team of Doron Perkins. The 27-year-old American would reach soon to an agreement to sign a one-year contract with the Spanish team. Perkins, who averaged 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in the last Euroleague, has an option to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv this summer, and could exercise to sign for Valencia. The alternative for Perkins, in case the player decides to play in the NBA, would be Earl Calloway, from Cajasol.

2010/11 season signings and rumours - stefans - 06-25-2010

Efes Pilsen signs Ersin Dagli, releases Mario Kasun, Preston Shumpert and Charles Smith, and could keep Bostjan Nachbar

As expected, Edwin Dudley, known as his Turkish name Ersin Dagli, is the new player of Efes Pilsen. The 29-year-old American-Turkish forward arrivers from Turk Telekom, and was signed to a two-year contract. Efes Pilsen also decided not to extend the contracts of the American players Preston Shumpert and Charles Smith, and the Croatian center Mario Kasun. The Turkish team could also decide to exercise the extension option for Bostjan Nachbar, who was initially reported to leave Efes Pilsen.

2010/11 season signings and rumours - stefans - 06-25-2010

Los Angeles Lakers could have made an offer for Terrell McIntyre

Unicaja and Panathinaikos are the two most interested European teams in landing Terrell McIntyre next season. The 33-year-old American guard, who is set to leave Montepaschi Siena, is still deciding where to play. But, according to the agent of the player, McIntyre has a third proposal from the NBA. The guard could have a $1 million offer from the Los Angeles Lakers to play there next season.

Well, if you plan to have Vouyoukas as a starter, it's your loss. But it would a huge downgrade from Fischer to Vouyoukas. If you want you can believe me and Freddito, if not... I guess we can wait and see the result in some months.

@ Freddito:

Olympiacos has more chances to sign Scola and Siskauskas. CSKA will not let Siska go.

2010/11 season signings and rumours - stefans - 06-25-2010

Real Madrid, interested in Romain Sato

Real Madrid is looking for a small forward to complete the roster, and is eyeing Romain Sato for the next season. The 29-year-old Central African Republic player was the last MVP of the Lega A playing for Montepaschi Siena, averaging 14.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in the last Italian league.

you're talking like I'm picking the players and the starters

I'm just going with the simple logic

Blatt chooses the players..he already signed Foote and now he wants to sign Vouyoukas..so the simple logic says that Foote just got out of college and he won't start

besides..I don't think that Fischer and Vouyoukas are the same type of players..for me Fischer is more PF and Vouyoukas is a C..so they don't really have the same style of play...

again..I believe you but I'm not making the calls in Maccabi <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />
