I've lost a last believe in this team this week <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' /> Half of the team should be kicked out literally.

Nalga and Milosevic in the first line...

Than Bajramovic...the guy is playing like nuts against some scrubs in LKL, but he always fail when it matter. He should be the key player, but every single game in Euroleague he's lost and confused. Jomantas and Newley are making a good laugh and the latter had to be the leader. What the hell is wrong with that guy?

Now, leaving one and only Valančiūnas against Euroleague bigs? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> How pathetic is that? (Well the good thing he's getting experience and hopefully won't be Ilgauskas No.2, having in mind NT history).

Rytas is a strong team when they all stick together (just like last two seasons) and currently they are one of the worst organised teams in Euroleague.

First of all why lose your hope after the game vs Barcelona and not in a game before or after vs a different opponent? Barcelona beat Panathinaikos, Siena and other top clubs with bigger margins at their home, I'd say Rytas escaped harmless from there as it could be +30.

If Bajramovic played like mad vs all teams he would get a better deal in a better EL team. Indeed Jomantas seems to have lost his role, maybe the fact that previous coach did not count on him and so he will be incorporated into the team later on?

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - straight forward - Nov 13, 2010

The thing is that Barsa didn't play well and Rytas once again didn't show any identity in offense and zone defence was too slow and not fixed together. Anyway, next week is already do or die game against Cibona.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - straight forward - Nov 16, 2010

Well Jasikevičius is on the team! He might even play some minutes against Cibona (finally Siemens arena will be filled).

GM announced that one of point guards will leave the team. Rumours (and simple mind) say it's going to be Miloševič. Also Nalga will leave the team in the future.

I can't wait to see Šaras in the court. He's not in shape probably, but what the hell <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Trifunovič saying that Šaras wants to play in Eurobasket 2011.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Kenneth23 - Nov 25, 2010

What happens with Saras if Lietuvos doesn't qualify for the top 16? There are rumors that he will be to expensive and he will go to another team? Anybody knows about this

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Black Urum - Nov 26, 2010

I guess it could be the truth.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - straight forward - Nov 28, 2010

J. Vainauskas said that Å aras might leave the team if Rytas won't qualify to top 16. Å aras is not commenting this. I wouldn't be surprised. Å aras obviously still has thing to offer for some clubs and Rytas is a mess this season...

I would like to see Å aras in Rytas till the end though. He is still a great player, still with that magical feeling for the game. I don't see any similar players in Europe at the moment. Not even Rubio or Teo is in the same line. I'm bias here, but he's one of the most enjoyable players ever born in Europe.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Black Urum - Nov 28, 2010

Saras said that he hasn't lived a worse situation in his career regarding the (lack of) team spirit of Rytas.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Kenneth23 - Nov 29, 2010

If Saras leaves, where do you guys think that he will go to?

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - suricata - Nov 29, 2010

i doubt he will find a top16 euroleague team, unless one of the top clubs suffers some injuries. My best guess is he returns to greece, goes to Aris or sth if the go far in the eurocup

Back to Greece? I don't think so. His girlfriend is coming to Vilnius so that crazy addiction for Greece is all over, unless PAO would offer him something. Even so, would Saras agree after all? I see only two reasonable choices: he's staying in Vilnius or he's getting place in some top 16 Euroleague team.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Black Urum - Nov 30, 2010

Who knows what can happen... for all we know Rytas could make it to Top16 after all...

And I wouldn't rule out an offer from a Top16 team either. The way Euroleague is this season anything goes, so all teams could seek even the slightest of help for their team to pursue their chances to make the play-offs.

I've been reading that he's looking to buy a bigger apartment in athens for his girlfriend. Havent heard anything about her moving to Vilnius

The fact is that SHE will visit (or maybe already here) Vilnius with their kid. I don't know how long she'll stay here though.

Anyway, I still think it would be best for Rytas to have some magical games and to qualify <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - straight forward - Dec 4, 2010

Valančiūnas is injured...It means Rytas now is completely naked in 5 position.

Another thing: I thought Trifunovič needs time, but obviously he is completely powerless. Any average LKL coach (not to mention those like Girskis, Grigas who were available before the season) would be a fresh air for Rytas. Current defence of Rytas is not even of the level of LKL. Only offensive flashes of Elamin, Šaras and Gecevičius saved Rytas tonight against Juventus. Wow...

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Black Urum - Dec 4, 2010

Keep up posted about the seriousness if his injury...

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - straight forward - Dec 6, 2010

Valanciunas is going to play this week in Euroleague. Hopefully the injury is not serious as the medical staff say (it looked pretty scary though) because no-one wants the same story of Sabas and Ilgauskas.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Kenneth23 - Dec 9, 2010

Valančiūnas will be fine, if they rest him and make sure that his injury has time to heal.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - Black Urum - Dec 10, 2010

Yup, it's not as serious as it was initially thought... still they need him in the last two do or die games.

Lietuvos Rytas 2010/2011 - TalkBasket - Dec 10, 2010

What I don't get about Rytas this season is that they just can't/won't defend. Their offense is often stagnant too. They deserve to qualify to Top 16 because they are 4th best team in their group but if the question is whether they are Top 16 material or not then my answer is undoubtedly no.

Since Trifunovic took over the team started to play better and the improvements were noticeable every week. But recently the team is declining for some reason. So at first there was a feeling that 'next week this team will play differently' but since there was no progress for a rather long time a win against Barca even without Mickeal and Navarro would be close to miracle.

Quote:Fast-rising star

If De Colo isn't thrilled to face CSKA, another Euroleague rising star would like to play Cholet Basket every week. Lietuvos Rytas beat Cholet 92-80 and kept its Top 16 hopes alive and kicking thanks in part to 19 points from Martynas Gecevicius. That is the same point total the 22-year-old guard had the first time he played Cholet. He also has his best index ratings this season, 23 and 22, against the French champs. Gecevicius was projected from a young age as the next great scorer coming out of Lithuania - "the next Arvydas Macijauskas" if you don't mind the comparison - and in the last weeks he's starting to deliver. Over his team's last four games, Gecevicius has averaged 16.5 points while shooting 71.4% on two-point shots and 39.1% on threes. He is also posting 3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for an average index rating of 18.5. Although the arrival of veteran point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius has helped Gecevicius focus more on his scoring strengths and less on ballhandling, his blooming process started even sooner. Without doubt, one of the Euroleague's best young players is emerging these days, and if he and Lietuvos Rytas can finish strong in Group C, we might see if Gecevicius is ready for the next big stage, the Top 16
