Central Asia? - Guest - Sep 5, 2007 I have question for the loyal reader in this forum. At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, Iââ¬â¢ve ad the opportunity to see Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in action. I was very impress with their performance as they did bring a lot of European influence into their game. However I found it hard to get more info or details on them. Perhaps some of you out there can help me on this But yet again Iââ¬â¢m still puzzled why despite with advantage in terms of height and physical, they still struggle against traditional Asian powers such as China, South Korea or Iran. Re: Central Asia? - TalkBasket - Sep 5, 2007 We have an Asian forum so I moved this topic there. I am not sure about the level of these two teams but I guess it is quite low. I am presuming this because Rimas Kurtinaitis was in charge of Azerbaijan and their players didn't even know all the basketball rules. You should check http://www.fibaasia.net for more information. Re: Central Asia? - rikhardur - Sep 9, 2007 Anton Ponomarev is a player to watch from Kazakhstan. Re: Central Asia? - daniab - Sep 16, 2007 Kazakhstan had improved a lot in the last Fiba Asian championship, they were the fourth in the standings after loosing by 4 pts against S.korea (3/4 placing match) I have been watched Kazakhstan many times, only Antony Ponomarev(18 years) leave a good impression for me. Usbekistan ,it wasn't a part of Asian champ 2007,Lebanon been played with Usbekistan in Doha games 2006 when we won by 46 pts. |
