USA NT 2008 - TalkBasket - May 19, 2008

Quote:LeBron James can now fully focus on his preparations for the Olympics with Team USA after Cleveland’s exit from the NBA play-offs.

James, a Team USA captain, had 45 points in Cleveland’s 97-92 defeat to Boston in the seventh game of the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

He was asked about this summer’s Beijing Games after the defeat in Boston.

"We did a good job last summer to put USA basketball in the place it deserves,” James said of the country’s gold medal win at the FIBA Americas Championship in Las Vegas.

“You see teams like Spain and Argentina, but the list grows because there are more powerful teams out there.”

James says there is only one aim for the Americans this summer in China.

"We are confident, we have a job and a task to achieve and that is to win the gold medal in Beijing," he said.

PG - Possibly Chauncey Billups?

SG - Kobe Bryant

SF - LeBron James

PF - Dwight Howard either at PF or Center.

C - I don't even know who it'd be.

- TalkBasket - Jun 14, 2008

Oops dunno why I did that. Nah I don't think Odom is good enough tbh.

USA can surprise us this year and even can win something. But we have 3 great news to Lithuania and other countries.

Amare will not participate, good for world, he is unstoppable

Carmelo will participate - very good to the rest of the world too

D-Wade will participate - Hooray

More selfish players in NT - more chances for not so arrogant NT to win Olympics.

Why surprice? They are in the top in every national tournaments <!-- sSmile --><!-- sSmile -->

I was being sarcastic <!-- sSmile --><!-- sSmile --> Trully I can't imagine what will happen. There are many candidates to win Olympics. If Russia won Euro2007, if Russia "won" eurovicion, if "Russian" team won Euroleague, if Russia won against Holland yesterday - everything is possible - even Iraq can win some games

REPRESENT!

Looks like a good team, but not much strength down low.

- GRB - Jun 23, 2008

too much stars for my taste, they are going to fight for the ball among themselves. <!-- sUnsure --><!-- sUnsure --> but otherwise roster looks really impressive.

- Straight Faced - Jun 24, 2008

I think you could've said the same thing for the dream team, and they took gold.

- GRB - Jun 24, 2008

maybe something changed on the other end since the dream team time ? dont you think ?

- hsmall111 - Jun 25, 2008

I like the makeup of this US team. Very balanced with shooters and and guys who can defend the perimeter. One small concern would be the lack of depth on the front court; USA could potentially have a problem matching up down low with teams like Lithuania, Russia, and China.

- rikhardur - Jun 25, 2008

Quote:"The thing I like about this team is that everyone checks their egos at the door,” Bosh said. “We know what it takes.

"That first World Championship (2006), we were really trying to learn the international game and how to play as a team.

“But now, everyone is ready to play basketball and play together because we know if we don't play together, we know things aren't going to happen the way we want them to."
