I'm only missing Ž. Kelys for the second NT, and not very happy to see Gustas, Delininkaitis, Lukauskis on the list.

Lithuania NT 2010 - TalkBasket - May 4, 2010

Kelys is probably not in the list due to his injury as he won't be fully fir to join the training camp I suppose. I also agree that the players you mentioned shouldn't be even considered. The only hope is that our key players will play so the likes of Lukauskis won't be selected. None of the players in the reserve team will make the final cut but come on Saulius Kuzminskas? Are we really that bad in center position?

What about Siskauskas? Has he changed his mind about the NT? There haven't been any news about him. On the other hand, Kemzura wouldn't put him on the list if Siskauskas had told him he won't play as he said last year.

Since the official list has been announced, we can post what players we'd like to be selected. Here's mine:

Jasikevicius

Kaukenas

Siskauskas

Kleiza

D. Lavrinovic

Gecevicius

Macijauskas

Jasaitis

Maciulis

K. Lavrinovic

Katelynas or Jankunas

Motiejunas

Lithuania NT 2010 - straight forward - May 4, 2010

Well, Gustas and Delininkaitis are there because they will experiment again if Å aras won't come...

On other hand, why to take Lukauskis when Kaukėnas, Gecevičius, Pocius, Macijauskas and even Seibutis are considered...S. Kuzminskas was nominated as the best center of Poland league, so I guess federation just put him in because of that reason.

I don't think Šiška will play, Kemzūra said that this is the massage he's always welcome in NT, even he announced his retirement- http://www.delfi.lt/news/sport/eurobasket2003/nacionalines-rinktines-kandidatu-sarase--24-krepsininkai-papildyta.d?id=31823975

I like your choice of backourt, but I would surely take both Javtokas and Petravičius in the roster if they will be available. They are real centers, and no-one can work at defensive end as they can. D. Lavrinovič for me could be the best option for C at some games were we could trust to his offense, but he's not that good at defence, IMO. So if I'm seeing Motiejunas in, only in Jankunas or Mačiulis place, or someone else...I don't really think Katelynas is an option.

Lithuania NT 2010 - TalkBasket - May 4, 2010

Thanks for the link. So it seems that all of the key players are questionable. The team without Saras, Kaukenas and Siskauskas doesn't look too impressive. Aiming for 6th place us probably the most realistic or maybe even a bit optimistic.

I didn't include Petravicius because of his injury but if he's fit to play then Motiejunas should only replace Jankunas or Maciulis as you said. If Motiejunas is picked by NBA team and they decide to take him to NBA already next season, would he choose to play for NT or join the NBA pre-season camps instead?

Lithuania NT 2010 - straight forward - May 4, 2010

Motiejūnas should come, I don't think he's that naive that would go to NBA already next year, but you never know.

As for the goal, if we would have all the best possible players from the list (leaving Šiška out) I don't think 6 place is a proper one. That team would be medal contender, I'm pretty sure.

Lithuania NT 2010 - TalkBasket - May 11, 2010

Quote:Lithuania's summer schedule is set

Lithuanian national team will play ten friendly games this summer as a preparation for FIBA World Championship 2010 in Turkey. The biggest highlight will be the games against reigning World Champions Spain and Olympic Champions United States.

Only three games out of ten will be played in Lithuania. Siauliai, Panevezys and Kaunas were picked as the host cities for home games. Full schedule:

July 31: Lithuania – Finland (Siauliai, Lithuania)

August 2: Lithuania – Czech Republic (Panevezys, Lithuania)

August 6: Slovenia – Lithuania (Vitoria, Spain)

August 7: Spain – Lithuania (Vitoria, Spain)

August 13: Turkey – Lithuania (Bamberg, Germany)

August 14: Kroatija – Lithuania (Bamberg, Germany)

August 15: Germany – Lithuania (Bamberg, Germany)

August 20: Spain – Lithuania (Madrid, Spain)

August 21: USA – Lithuania (Madrid, Spain)

August 24: Lithuania – Iran (Kaunas, Lithuania)

The reserve team will play series of friendly games in Great Britain and China. The biggest name on the roster will be a sharp shooter Arvydas Macijauskas.

July 6: Great Britain - Lithuania B (Worcester, Great Britain)

July 7: Great Britain - Lithuania B (Worcester, Great Britain)

July 12: CBA team (TBA) - Lithuania B (China (city TBA))

Lithuania NT 2010 - straight forward - May 11, 2010

Wow, I really like the idea of going to GB. I hope Macijauskas will be fine physically (healthy), because 14 friendly games might be really enough to get the sense of game back. I'm positive about NT this summer!

Lithuania NT 2010 - straight forward - May 31, 2010

Jasikevičius is not going to play in WC. Very sad news...

'Surprise' 'surprise' <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> That means that our goal to finish 6th is the best what we can expect. I'm not sure that we could hope for anything even if Å aras was on the team. Yet another tournament with limited hopes.

I thought Siskauskas retired from international basketball? What is his name doing on this list? Has he had a change of heart? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Ohmy' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/agree.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Agree' />

Lithuania NT 2010 - Sagenas - Jun 1, 2010

He said one more time again that he won't play for NT. And Jasikevičius this summer won't play for NT too. That's bad...also we know that Marijonas Petravičius is injuried so it's a big question about him...and it's possible Kaukėnas might not play for NT because of his father's illness. :/ By the way, president of LKF said that brothers Darjuš and Kšištof Lavrinovič might not play as well...it's going to be bad...but I think that NT will be younger...these players might play in NT after leaders retire:

C: Javtokas, Andriuškevičius

PF: Kleiza, Katelynas, Kuzminskas (plays like SF but if he gets more muscles then he couldp lay as PF)

SF: Seibutis, Jomantas, Mačiulis

SG: Gecevičius, Pocius, Jasaitis

PG: Kalnietis, Viskontas, Kelys. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Lithuania NT 2010 - skangles - Jun 2, 2010

How is Andriuskevicius doing these days? There was so much hype around him when he went to the NBA, then he got knocked out by Awvee Storey and I had not heard from him since. I guess he's made a name for himself in the Spanish second division.

Lithuania NT 2010 - TalkBasket - Jun 2, 2010

Andriuskevicius plays in Spanish ACB league with Meridiano Alicante. He's averaging 8.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. His ACB profile can be found here.

In other words it's highly unlikely to see him in NT ever, specially when these two- Motiejūnas and Valančiūnas are coming. Never was a fan of Adriuškevičius, all he has is tall body and mediocre perimeter shooting.

Lithuania NT 2010 - Sagenas - Jun 2, 2010

If think Motiejūnas and Valančiūnas may not play as good as we want in nearly future and besides Andriuškevičius plays better and better. By the way, I don't see any problems if we may have many good players <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

They might not- we'll wait <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> But I'm not sure at all that Adriuškevičius is a good player.

Lithuania NT 2010 - Sagenas - Jun 3, 2010

He's doing a great progress. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Lithuania NT 2010 - skangles - Jun 10, 2010

Arvydas Macijauskas has retired from basketball. He's now considering taking up a coaching career.

Lithuania NT 2010 - Black Urum - Jun 11, 2010

I don't think Lithuania can go pass the quarter finals in Turkey. No Saras and Siska is just too much to handle, especially when you don't have a decent PG.

Lithuania NT 2010 - Sagenas - Jun 15, 2010

Then we need to play "run'n'shoot" <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> we have many fast players and almost all our players can make 3-pointers <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> I think Klanietis and Gecevičius may play as point guards. By the way, Gecevičius plays pick'n'roll pretty good
