Yep, agree 100%. Too bad though that the media marketing determines whatever 90% of the people think and since then NBA is "the whole world of basketball" for the US side.
USA has it's own everything. With their budget sports and hot-dog family audience. Every sport is the same in the USA. They all play a bunch of games, and the one that wins is the World Champion... Wow, bravo!

In the NBA it's not natural, I enjoy watching it, it's good basketball and the biggest stars play there but it'll never make me feel what Maccabi makes me feel, I'll never be excited when the Spurs win the championship like I am when Maccabi wins the euroleague, it feels.. synthetic. everything, from sadness to happyness is just not the same.
European basketball (for me) is full of feelings, excitement, NBA feels like entertainment..

I chose this because so many people agreed with you. Also because of your assertions that NBA is not real basketball or that it doesnt play defence. Are you saying the NBA doesn't play defence or that Europe plays "better" defence. I disagree with you. I believe NBA plays better defence than Euroleague and Europe as a whole. Here are my humble opinions:
Defence:NBA plays better defence than Euroleague. The best indicator of this is international competitions between team USA and European teams. Both in 2008 olympics and 2010 world cup were made up of NBA players. If europe plays better defence then why are most of the teams that play USA held to a lower shooting percentage? USA "usually" leads is all the classic defensive stats. Forced turnovers, steals, blocked shots, Converting defence into points. If you don't believe me go do research and look for yourself. It was most enjoyable to me seeing Team USA intercepting passes by getting a hand in the passing lanes. This is elementry fundamental defence but international teams did not defend USA well. I often wondered why aren't these teams defending?? To me European defence has more of a "sit and wait" philosophy. Just get in a zone and wait for the offense to make a move. This is boring to me. It shows less heart and challenge. To be honest the main difference/advantage between USA and European style of play is defensive tenacity. This is why USA is so sucessful recently and in the 90's. Simply the USA can guard Europe but Europe can not guard the USA. So yeah NBA > Euro-league in defence. Just look at the statistics in last two events. Real basketball: What does this mean? If you are refering to strict adherence to fundamentals then yes NBA is real basketball. passing, rebounding, boxing out, dribbling, defence. Again look at the statistics USA is equal or greate in many of the fundamental statistics. Many times USA out rebounded larger, stronger teams. Why is this? because NBA players in WC/OG showed better rebounding skill. As in boxing out and getting the best position. Offensive rebounding is the other big reason for USA sucess.

Now to answer the original question Euro-leage vs NBA differences.
Creativity: NBA is more creative and has more entertaining dynamic. The game is pretty, beautiful even as well as efficent and fundamental. I enjoy this balance. This is not always the case. Sometimes this balnce is not achived in the NBA but compared to Euroleague its just better.
To me NBA is like how the Brasilians use to play soccer football the "beautiful game" they call it. The Germans are also good but known for there tactics. To me NBA when it is at its best is like The beautiful game that has balance in good tactics with brilliant creativity! I believe this is true of American basketball in general. :-D

About defensive 3 second rule:
First of all I would like to say
I do not like defensive 3 second rule BUT you are "misunderstanding" the rule. You can still play defense in the lane you just have to be actively guarding an opponent or an opponent must be a threat to entering the lane.
So to be clear a defender can be in the lane for 24 seconds as long as there is ball movement in that area. Your "translate" remark is a "mistranslation"
Again it must be stated that I do not like the NBA 3 second rule. I believe maybe 10 second rule is better. The 3 sec is bad BUT
some type of rule is needed in the NBA because the defenders have become too athletic. For example players like the great Dikembe Mutumbo could just stand under the goal and block shots all day. There would be less penetration. Could you imagine if players like Dwight Howard were allowed to stay in the lane and make camp under the basket? It would be boring for many. In the NBA big men are so athletic that a 2 - 3 zone set with three 7ft/2.18m under the basket it would be difficult to score. It would be just jump shooting contest. This is a poor example. Soccer-football and Basketball have very different scoring philosophy. The rules of Soccer-football and the nature of the game is
defensive. This is why in FIBA WC you have 0 - 0 tie. Again Soccer football is different because of rules like "offsides" this is a defensive natured game. thats why you have so many ties and no scoring.

Americans express themselves differently and in long NBA 82 game season every game is not important. It's only for bragging rights. Just so you know Americans are very passionate about sports. University, Highschool and children leagues. I was just at a game last night where the people in the stands were given a technical foul and eventually kicked out of the stadium. This was 12 and under American football. Just google little league football or youtube and you will see fights and crazy people. For me personally this is not entertainment. If we are talking in general, all countries have almost the same percentage of "dumb" people.
It's just that Americans on NBA stands look "dumb" (shouting defence, eating, wearing foam fingers, kissing etc) to an outsider cause of different sports culture.
I'm sure if most Americans had a look at Euroleague stands they would say that people there are dumb (taking off their tops, throwing things, playing instruments, smoking etc).
I just watched two NBA games on ESPN. I am sorry, but the NBA game is so lifeless, so boring, so contrived that it is practically unwatchable in the regular season. The NBA product has become quite lame to be honest. The thing that really caught my eye was how Tiago Splitter was so much faster than every other big man on the floor.
Yet, every NBA fans I have ever talked to swears that it is a fact that every player in the Euroleague would be the slowest player at their position in the NBA.
Reality is what it is. The NBA is just another commercialized consumer product for the masses these days. Thankfully basketball fans still have the NCAA tournament and the Euroleague. I honestly can barely sit through a regular season NBA game anymore.
You can easily count on one hand the amount of NBA teams that even play hard during the regular season and that even try on defense during the regular season. I guess that many American NBA fans simply don't know better because they are so used to the NBA that they can't see it anymore. Seriously, I loved the last NBA Finals. It was great. But most of the NBA product these days is really lame. There is something fundamentally wrong with the league when a big basketball fan like myself can only get excited at the NBA Finals.
Even the rest of the playoffs last year was pretty boring. But the thing is that, as good as the NBA Finals was last year (and it was great), it still does not compare to the average Euroleague Final Four IMHO.
The NBA better hope like hell that ESPN never signs a big TV contract to air the Euroleague Final Four live on TV and also to re-air it on prime time TV in the US. Because IMHO if that ever happens, all of the nonsense that most NBA fans in the US believe will be gone instantly.
The way they talk about the NBA like it is a billion times better than the Euroleague, the best player in Euroleague would be the worst player in the NBA, the worst player in the NBA would average 50 a game in the Euroleague, the NBA plays way better defense, etc, etc, we all know the usual BS.......
They seem to actually believe this nonsense. If millions of people in the US actually started seeing the Euroleagie Final Four all of that would end and the NBA marketing would be useless then. Because people would see that the Euroleague has a better product these days than the NBA does.
Even though in the US the NBA fan base is dominated by inner city black males, that is a small market and the NBA lost its previous fans from the 80s and 90s. They would love the Euroleague Final Four. And honestly, the way the NBA is today it is an incredibly offensive league in how it definitely markets a racist ideology that the game belongs only to blacks. I personally find that offensive and for me it has become really hard to even talk to other NBA fans anymore because every fan seems so racist as well.
They make racist comments like only black Americans can play basketball and they make many racist comments about any other type of player. And it comes primarily from the NBA marketing ploys. It's quite sad and pathetic to be honest about it.
I see Euroleague games where guys play based on whether they do what the coach wants or not, and then NBA games where you can clearly see guys playing based on who the NBA wants to showcase, wants to market, who has the ads, who has the contract, and yes, clearly in many NBA teams foreign players do not get treated the same way as American players.
Unfortunately, the NBA is a mere shadow of what it was back in the 80s and 90s. Hopefully, the Finals this year will be as good as last year's Finals were, and I will enjoy that then. But for example the NBA regular season..........it's really gotten to be a bad product.

Just to emphasize this, the Olympics and the World Championship have nothing at all to do with the Euroleague. I don't know why hardly any American NBA fans seem to be able to grasp this, but for whatever reason NBA vs. Euroleague issue is ALWAYS Team USA versus whatever national team to American NBA fans.
This is completely illogical and makes no sense. The NBA might equate to Team USA, but no national team in the world equates to the Euroelague. I don't really see why NBA fans always make that bogus connection. No national team in the world is a representation of the Euroleague in any way, shape, or form as it would be analagous to what Team USA equates to in NBA terms.
Team USA is to NBA as ________ is to Euroleague. In the blank American NBA fans insert any and every national team opponent of Team USA. I am sorry, but this is simply wrong.

So let me just say that you should come to understand that the Euroleague versus NBA has zero to do with Team USA versus whatever national team.

I was thinking North America with Canada and USA.It's the same lifestyle.
And i'm not been in America but i watched many TV Documentary.And in our country it's important to know about many things.Simply it's part of our life.For Serbian People is much expensive to go on trip to America it's about 1.000 euros or 1.380 dollars.And in Serbia month wages are about 250 euros average or 345 dollars.I have been in Greece and Turkey.And few countries in around.And I'm planing to go in Switzerland to my relatives very soon.

Seriously, I loved the last NBA Finals. It was great. But most of the NBA product these days is really lame. There is something fundamentally wrong with the league when a big basketball fan like myself can only get excited at the NBA Finals.
Even the rest of the playoffs last year was pretty boring. But the thing is that, as good as the NBA Finals was last year (and it was great), it still does not compare to the average Euroleague Final Four IMHO.
The NBA better hope like hell that ESPN never signs a big TV contract to air the Euroleague Final Four live on TV and also to re-air it on prime time TV in the US. Because IMHO if that ever happens, all of the nonsense that most NBA fans in the US believe will be gone instantly.
The way they talk about the NBA like it is a billion times better than the Euroleague, the best player in Euroleague would be the worst player in the NBA, the worst player in the NBA would average 50 a game in the Euroleague, the NBA plays way better defense, etc, etc, we all know the usual BS.......
They seem to actually believe this nonsense. If millions of people in the US actually started seeing the Euroleagie Final Four all of that would end and the NBA marketing would be useless then. Because people would see that the Euroleague has a better product these days than the NBA does.
Even though in the US the NBA fan base is dominated by inner city black males, that is a small market and the NBA lost its previous fans from the 80s and 90s. They would love the Euroleague Final Four. And honestly, the way the NBA is today it is an incredibly offensive league in how it definitely markets a racist ideology that the game belongs only to blacks. I personally find that offensive and for me it has become really hard to even talk to other NBA fans anymore because every fan seems so racist as well.
They make racist comments like only black Americans can play basketball and they make many racist comments about any other type of player. And it comes primarily from the NBA marketing ploys. It's quite sad and pathetic to be honest about it.
I see Euroleague games where guys play based on whether they do what the coach wants or not, and then NBA games where you can clearly see guys playing based on who the NBA wants to showcase, wants to market, who has the ads, who has the contract, and yes, clearly in many NBA teams foreign players do not get treated the same way as American players.
Unfortunately, the NBA is a mere shadow of what it was back in the 80s and 90s. Hopefully, the Finals this year will be as good as last year's Finals were, and I will enjoy that then. But for example the NBA regular season..........it's really gotten to be a bad product.
Simply..This is how functions American economy.And other that goes with it.NBA is more industry or job than Sport.Same goes to other American professional sports.(NHL,MLB and NFL).
