This is something that American historians have suspected and known for a while. It's good that we may now have genetic proof. I have read about possible cultural exchanges between South Americans and people from Africa that may be over 1000 years old. I find genetic studies very interesting.

A funny out of subject thing: I got a vegetarian cousin... whenever she goes traveling, I ask her about the food. If she says "the food was great" I know it's not the place for me and probably sucks and when she says "it sucked" i know I will get some great food (meat) there...

And actually there is strong version that first "socialised" groups of people were vegetarians (the structure of teeth), but off course every TRUE MAN must be a HUNTER (converting to these days: fat fan sitting on sofa with fried chicken and beer off course). Can't really abolish the tradition that easy.
In Romania they have 2 weird professions: Witches and Party uplifter, she is the latter one.
