It seems like Brezec won't play in Lithuania this year, because he wants to spend his summer with his family. As far things are going, it is also possible that also Vidmar won't play, due to problems with (still) injured knee.

I agree, but this year Lorbek is returning, maybe Smodis, so Maljkovic decided he probably won't call Zupan. It's a little surprising ...

What a mistake, Zupan is a scoring machine that has 1000 and 1 ways of doing it, I've definitely seen him many a time both on club level and NT level, where he pulls ahead with the scoring, when all the rest of his teammates seem to have handcuffs on their wrists.
The slovenian candidates:

Jaka Lakovič (Barcelona)

Goran Dragić (Houston Rockets)

Zoran Dragić (Krka)

Boštjan Nachbar (Efes Pilsen)

Matjaž Smodiš (CSKA Moskva)

Erazem Lorbek (Barcelona)

Domen Lorbek (San Sebastian)

Miha Zupan (St. Petersburg)

Samo Udrih (Union Olimpija)

Gašper Vidmar (Fenerbahče)

Sašo Ožbolt (Union Olimpija)

Goran Jagodnik (Union Olimpija)

Uroš Slokar (Manresa)

Jaka Blažič (Geoplin Slovan)

Nebojša Joksimović (Igokea)

Luka Lapornik (Zlatorog)

Edo Murić (Krka)

Klemen Prepelič (Helios)

Danijel Vujasinović (Zlatorog)

Mirza Begić (Real Madrid)

Zupan got called after all, Joksimovič is a surprise and Vidmar is on the list but probably won't play.
I am very happy with the selection. It is nice to see Luka Lapornik on the list, because he made amazing improvement from last season. Knowing that until last year he was not professional player and he only had around 5 trainings per week, he really showed quality this year. I am also happy with his decision to call some younger players, especially Zoran Dragic is really gold. Well done Maljkovic! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Great news for Zupan <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
Domen Lorbek will not participate on Eurobasket due to injury.
Gasper Vidmar out of Eurobasket. Dino Muric will participate in preparation stage.

Read the real reasons behind the story...
Radovan Lorbek is the worst thing that ever happened to Slovenian basketball ... I also don't want to see Erazem and Domen Lorbek in our NT again.
Erazem WILL play. I guess the public and the media pressure was to big for family Lorbek.
Hahaha the rats got cornered and changed their mind [Image: wink.gif]
