Maccabi responded officially in their site

http://www.maccabi.co.il/News.asp?id=308...ge=english (link in English)

Shimon Mizrahi's response to sport5 (was pretty much what I thought about the whole deal):"You can't argue with facts, there's only one way to see this case. Last May Pargo and Maccabi signed a 2-year deal with an option for Pargo to get out to the NBA in case he has a promised contract by August 1st. There's a lock-out anyway, therefor the player didn't get a contract and actually it's really simple (the meaning):we have a contract with Pargo for the next 2 years."

I liked this attitude but from all the other responses and articles it seems like there could be a case where Maccabi will let pargo go as he wishes and.. how can I say that gently? SUE HIS ASS

In case group C wasn't Hell-ish enough...
Does anybody know where Saras ( Jasikevicius) will play next season? Will he play for Fenerbache or has his contract expired?

I think now with Pargo gone at Maccabi, the rumors about a return to Maccabi for Saras will heat up even more

Rudy Fernandez will play for Real Madrid untill the lock-out ends. Then he'll return to Dallas and play there untill the season ends. After the NBA season he will stay with Real Madrid for good

Not even Saras knows where is he going to play this season!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

The Saras-Maccabi scenario is very possible to me.

On the other hand is very possible too for Saras to return and finish his career in Lithuania!

Ofcourse, he can play again for Fener because the F4 is taking place in Turkey.

Possibly, he will think that this is a very good chance to reach F4 once again.

In my opinion though, none Turkish team will make it to F4... once again. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' />

Yeah, ok, Turkish Airlines - Final Four in Turkey(that means you "own" the refs), but if you don't have the TEAM(no matter how much money you spend, you can't have a TEAM in 1-2 seasons) you will not make it, end of story!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/baby.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Baby' />
If Saras goes to Maccabi, Maccabi has the two most experienced guards at their team. With all their experience they could make every player better and they know what to do if their team is trailing or when the game is on the line
Saras in Maccabi? man I hope not.. Not because I don't like Saras, he's one of my favorite players but if Pargo doesn't stay we need to find a new 1st PG and Saras is far from being in the level of a 1st PG for a team that aims high in the Euroleague.
Omri Casspi has agreed terms and according to him will sign by the end of the week.

I don't like it.. it was obvious that he'd sign but 2 players from the lock-out are too much

Is not necessary to have a top-top playmaker to win the euroleague if you are full in the other 4 positions. The most recent example is Barcelona who won the Euroleague with Rubio being the starter in PG. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

I don't like it at all. European teams shouldn't sign players if they leave in the middle in the season. I mean, if Farmar and Casspi play really great for Maccabi par example and they leave, Maccabi will lose two very good players. I mean this can happen to every team( Like Nancy and Batum, etc.)If they want to play in Europe, than they have to stay the whole season in Europe. If they still have a contract with a NBA team, then they have to stay in the USA and organise games against other players and keep on working out

I agree. Top level teams shouldn't make such decisions. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If you are a team such Maccabi that targets the Euroleague trophy, you should make smart decisions and signing players with "expiry date" is definitely not a smart one. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />
I agree that it's a lousy decision but both weren't brought as players that Maccabi counts on but as bonuses to an existing roster so it's not so bad, Smith and Pnini were planned to share the time on SF and wheh Casspi leaves they can still do it, same goes to Farmer (although more problematic with Pargo expected to leave but still there will be a replacement to Pargo) So I, just like you guys don't really like these signings but as long as they're brought as additions to an existing squad and not as main parts in the squad with no replacement, it's not as bad. But still I see a problem with the team making adjustments after (and if) they'd leave.

Well, except for Barca all other teams that won lately had a top-level PG (not my thing I remember reading it somewhere <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> ) Saras with Barca 2003 and Maccabi 2004&2005, Papaloukas with CSKA 2006, DD with Pao 2007, Papa again in 2008, DD again (with help from Saras) in 2009 Rubio as the exception in 2010 and DD again in 2011
Well, don't forget that you will have Papaloukas no matter what(lock out and stuff!). <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Papaloukas despite his age is still one of the best PLAYMAKERS out there. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> He can't run or score like the old days but in controlling the game and finding the open man is one of the top-5(and not necessarily in No.5!!!)! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I agree, that's why I'm glad we have him as our back-up PG. I also believe he can still be one of the more efficient PGs in the minutes he can play
