I think you're a bit rough against them, they defeated you and the hosts besides they played hell of a game against russia. I think they will play with their best. The thing is if Antic can play with a self esteem and decides to challenge the Gasols (I'm trying to say if he can believe this in his mind), they can play big time.

I used to like spain now I don't like them very much , not because they are so arrogant but because they did much and I feel like it is enough. However I hate Pau from the first momemnt I saw him.

Yes they defeated us. They defeated a 'B' team not an 'A' team. We had no less than 8 absentees during this tournament for whatever the reasons were!! They defeated a team with NO experience in big time tournamnets apart from 3 players, and you know who they are. That's NO excuse for us to lose either. 'We should've but we didn't,' doesn't really cut it. FYROM had a good, but lucky run. They were lucky enough to naturalize McCalebb, who in fact carried them through to the semis.

Zouros never really had a plan to begin with. Why do you think Hellas looked so unstable during the entire tournament for? They were slapped together within 2 months and 9-10 friendlies to create some type of system and chemistry within the team. It didn't pan out. They did have enough talent to make it in the top six though.

Today against Serbia was the best game of the tournament for Hellas in my opinion. That's the type of basketball I look for. A high scoring running game, with minimum zone defense and clogging up of lanes. If a game is tight, you switch to zone and balance your offence. At the end of the day though, if you don't score you don't win, no matter how good your defense is.

FYROM was lucky, just like Leon Spinks, when he knocked out Muhammad Ali a very long time ago. They should savour this tournament because it will never be repeated again. They will go to the pre-olympic tournament. I don't think they'll qualify and make it through to the olympics, because they don't have the depth, the players, or the culture to do so.

You'll see a different Hellas in the pre-olympic tournament. Some players will return and I'm sure Spanoulis will be amongst those players. You'll also see at least 4 or 5 of the youngsters or new guys that played in this tournament. That being Bramos, Papanikolaou, Vaseiliadis, Calathes, Koufos and probably Kaimacoglou, in my mind. I like these players, despite what many greeks back home think. They need as many opportunities as possible to develop their game, psychology, and more importantly, 'team chemistry.'

Cheers!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
FYROM deserves a medal for the hell that they put Spain through. Flash in the pan or not, they put forth a valiant effort which may inject new enthusiasm for basketball in the country.

Pau and Juan hold the keys of the Spanish NT. Once they are out, Spain will experience a sharp decline in performance and positioning, this is just the natural state of things. The only way Spain will keep itself at the top is if they start giving Spanish passports left, right and center to a whole load of foreigners who'll gladly wear the Spanish jersey for a hefty price <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />
Spain still has some nice young players, Fernandez, Rubio, Claver, Marc Gasol, Llull. They are not at risk of becoming irrelevant but they will lose their dominance without Pau and JC.

They also have a nice young foreign recruit in Ibaka <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Spain with P. Gasol and J.C. Navarro is a great-great team! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Spain without P. Gasol and J.C. Navarro will be a good team. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

As simple is that...! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Yeah yeah, sure FYROM was lucky but a team at their capacity needs luck you know. And I didn't mean to offend Greece, I meant they played very well against rival way beyond their strenght. I think you need Spanoulis for sure.

Totally , yes this succes probably won't be repeated for a while but that country will be better than the day this tournament started. I'm turkish I know that we experienced that both in football and basketball. First self esteem comes, then youth pay attention to the subject sports, sponsors follow, briefly I think they will be team like Poland in a few years.

Greece would find a way that is unnecessary to debate on. I think they will qualify for the olympics too. If you saw I pedicted greek win over serbia too in another thread , that was obvious.

About your sentence "if you don't score you don't win, no matter how good your defense is."

As a turk; F..ING YES, I AGREE.
And yes , Spain will be shaken after Gasol and Navarro.
However I must add, I watched some games highlightd of u18 tornament this year. Spain got the trophy nd defeated their rivals quite easily. Yes they will find wonderful players. But the problem is after great playes or generations people are mssing them and demand same people as the former ones. That stresses the next generation and make it hard to find their own characther.

This is the awful truth about popular sports.
