Anybody been following the FIBA Asia tournament? Qatar is 0-2 after losing 27-12 to Uzbekistan and 40-4 to Iran. Both games were disqualified in the first quarter when Qatar was left with one eligible player on the court.

Qatar says that it is protesting FIBA for disqualifying 5 of their 11 players due to nationality.

I have never seen anything like this before. They just look silly.

In other news Korea upset Lebanon in group play.
Qatar should be kicked out forever. What they're doing is a disgrace.

What a comedy.FIBA Asia should ban Qatar for five years!!!
Qatar tried to pull a similar natualization stunt in football before the 2006 world cup qualifiers when they handed out passports to a bunch of Brazilian B teamers like Ailton. FIFA had to step in and backhand Qatar for doing this and as a punishment FIFA awarded Qatar with hosting the 2022 world cup. :lol
Qatar finally played a full game and lost to Taiwan 94-78.

In the other game in this wild and crazy group Iran beat Uzbekistan 132-38!!
FIBA needs to merge Oceania and Asia. The Oceania championship was a 3 game series between Australia and New Zealand. Australia won and is in the olympics. New Zealand lost aka did nothing and is somehow automatically in the 12 team qualifier. That is BS. New Zealand should be in the qualification tournament through Asian qualification. It is not fair to teams like Serbia, Slovenia and Canada that play in much harder regions and just came up short that New Zealand had to do nothing but lose to Australia to get their spot.

FIBA Americas is defintely the best idea to hit international basketball. North and South America both have enough talent to field their own competitions but by joining up the quality of the confederation is significantly better. Asia and Oceania should take note.
Iran beat Malaysia 121-36 today.
Qatar forfeit against India and again against Bahrain in the 13-16th classification games. They lost both games 20-0.
What weird stuff is going on? Really weird scores I'm reading here. That's pretty ghey that New Zealand qualifies for the Olympics so easily, I agree the quality of the championship should be made vastly harder, like our teams slog it out in the Eurobasket competition! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Dry' />

It seems like Iran is just going for a walk in the park with the results its producing <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> Their opponents are like a lamb ready for the slaughter! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />
We're at the Quarterfinals which are scheduled for Friday. It should be an Iran vs. China finale if all goes as planned. Both teams are undefeated.
A lot of the games are available on sport scene <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
Shocking upset! Jordan beat Iran 88-84! Iran's Olympic hopes are shattered after destroying everybody in the tournament to date. The road to London just got a lot easier for China and the Philippines is now in a prime position to at least make the qualification tournament.

I should note that neither China nor the Philippines have played their quarterfinal matches.
Korea is also in the semifinals after defeating Japan 86-67.

Phippines beat Taiwan and will play Jordan in the semis.

Jordan has done it again! They knocked off the Philippines 75-61 and will now face China for the Asian championship.
