Those are the first jearseys that look like they are saying "we are not above you all, but we will fight and win"! I hated the old ones that were looking like some superhero outfit <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I don't like it. Too angular and that makes static impression and players look robotic. Only opinion.

I thought the exact same thing!! They are too angular. The regular bold USA jersey logo is just fine.

Shortened season won't slow USA hoops' progression

Quote:There has been understandable concern about whether the lockout-shortened season has contributed to all the injuries throughout the league this season. Jerry Colangelo is concerned, too. But he can't let that stop him from putting a team together.

USA Basketball's chairman and head honcho will have a small window after The Finals in June to put together a team that will be defending its 2008 gold medal in London for the Summer Games. He knows it will be a hybrid of the '08 team led by Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and the Kevin Durant-led 2010 team that won the World Championships in Turkey. He knows Mike Krzyzewski will be coaching it. And he believes it has to come together in a hurry. So the U.S. team will start camp July 6 in Las Vegas, train there until the 11th and play the Dominican Republic in an exhibition on the 12th. Then they will fly to Washington, D.C., for three days of training and an exhibition against Brazil on July 16. The next day, the team flies to England, where it will train for two days and play again on the 19th, against Great Britain. Then it's off to Barcelona, for games on July 22 against Argentina and July 24 against Spain, before heading to London for the Opening Ceremonies on July 27.

"We have a short period of time," Colangelo said Friday. "We've got to get the games in. We've got to get prepared. And that's just the way it is."

Colangelo will not replace Chauncey Billups, a member of the 2010 World Championshipsteam who will be out the rest of the NBA season with a torn ACL, on the roster, and he's not likely to make any additions before next summer. The U.S. Select Team, comprised of younger NBA players that work out with the senior team, will be vital to this Olympic cycle, Colangelo said, helping the Olympic Team prepare. Durant, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Andre Iguodala and Derrick Rose were '08 Select Team members who went on to become part of the core of the '10 World Championshp team. Rest for the older players has to be built into the schedule.

"One of the things we're going to be very careful about is our players, coming off of a condensed season," Colangelo said. "We're not going to overwork them. We're not going to overkill them or anything like that. We've got to be careful. We'll back off (practice) a little bit. It's important to have our Select Team be there for all of that, and I may have a few extra. Even though we have a 12-man roster we have to submit in June, before the camp, I may ask a few guys to come anyway. If they wish to. And they should."

But Colangelo does not think an extended summer for any NBA player, including NBA playoffs and the Summer Games, will necessarily lead to more injuries for those players in the 2012-13 NBA season. To the contrary.

"It turned out to be a blessing that none of the Beijing ('08) guys played in Istanbul," he said. "Look at what happened with those new players. Derrick Rose ended up as MVP. Durant led the league in scoring. Westbrook made the All-Star team. Love had an incredible year. Tyson Chandler helps Dallas win a championship and parlays that into a pretty nice contract. All of those guys had great seasons. Nobody got hurt. That's the proof of the pudding."
USA to scrimmage against Spain, Dominican Republic and Great Britian

Jerseys are horrible. They should just go back to perfection and never change it again. Truly a jersey you would feel honored to wear. [Image: 23394_01_lg.jpg]
That leaves us with Rondo and Westbrook then add a second tier guy like Ty lawson or Ray Felton.
Why did you pick these two players? I'd see if Kyrie Irving wants to rethink playing for Australia. Alternatively, John Wall would be an obvious pick. I would also take Brandon Jennings in a heartbeat over Lawson or Felton. All three options give you a young solid point guard who could realistically have a long future with the team.

<img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Ohmy' /> These jerseys represent the greatest basketball team ever assembled. The Dream Team jersey is symbolic of a nostalgic era in which the US was in the middle of a phenomenal generation of talent and more importantly pro players had not previously been allowed to play in the Olympics so the excitement surrounding the team was unparalleled.

Every US player that wears the national jersey should be playing to protect the legacy of US basketball that was established by the Dream Team. Unfortunately, the new generation is out to prove that they are better than the Dream Team. Until they realize that it is not about them vs. the Dream team and start focusing on the opposition in the here-and-now, Team USA is vulnerable.

In any event, I think that the new jerseys make them look like they should be playing in the D-League rather than playing for an Olympic medal.

I still believe that this is a terrible jersey.

I know it represents the Dream Team but it has nothing to do with it.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski duke team lost early to LeHigh. This will give him more time to work on team USA. Assistant coaches Mike D'Antoni and Nate McMillian also parted ways with their respective ball clubs. Mike D'Antoni resigned from his position with the New York Knicks. Nate McMillian was fired from the Portland Trailblazers.

Dwight Howard is committed to team USA no matter what.....

Quote:Howard Plays His Part for USA Basketball

Posted Thursday, March 29, 2012 5:27 PM ET

Eric Rosales, CTVOlympics.ca Staff

Earlier this NBA season, Dwight Howard felt that he should have the ball in his hands come crunch time of close games.

As the Orlando Magic’s best player, Howard’s thought process was simple: the most dominant player on the floor should have an impact on the result of a game.

Those comments, however, came under fire because his free-throw shooting has hovered just above 50 per cent all year, to the point that teams have employed the hack-a-Howard strategy, exchanging missed free throws for more possessions.

But when his NBA season concludes, you can be sure the 6'11", 240-pound hulk of a centre won't make so much as a peep if he's not the go-to guy in London.

The allure of back-to-back Olympic gold medals—and playing on what could potentially be the most talented USA Basketball roster since the original Dream Team in 1992—will do that to an athlete.

"I know what my job is, I know what they need me to do, which is to provide defence and be dominant defensively on the floor," Howard said of his expectations for the London 2012 Olympic Games. "Everybody has to put away their pride, and what they want to accomplish as individuals to help the team win."

Although the roster has not been finalized, USA Basketball Chair Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski should build a lineup that's arguably better than the gold medal-winning 2008 Beijing squad, which will once again be the overwhelming favourite to reach gold in London.

"It was a great experience in China, and we're looking forward to the experience in London,” said Howard, who was on that gold medal-winning squad during the 2008 Olympic tournament. “I think we have the opportunity to do something special with the guys that we have."

There will be three no. 1 overall picks from past NBA drafts (Howard, Derrick Rose and LeBron James), while almost all of the other 20 players shortlisted for the team are top-five NBA picks.

In fact, the only player who is not a top-10 pick is Kobe Bryant, and he just happens to be the most decorated player on the roster.

Howard is currently enjoying another stellar year. The six-time all-star is averaging 20 points and 14 rebounds a game and is once again on pace to lead the league in rebounding, which he's done five times already.

He is also in the running to capture his fourth consecutive defensive player of the year award and figures to be a unanimous all-NBA first team and all-NBA defensive first team selection for a fourth straight season.

"I realize that they're not going to need me to come down and score 20 a night, and that's not what I have to do for our Olympic team to win. (Just) defend and dominate the paint, and get those guys easy shots," he said.

"I know what my role is, and I'm willing to play it, for the gold medal. This is bigger than myself, this is bigger than me being the man on my team; this is for my country."

I just found out that Team USA will be facing Brazil in an Exhibition on July 16 in DC! Tickets haven't gone on sale yet but I will do everything in my power to go to that game.

I don't believe Blake Griffin should be included in the 2012 NT because his ofensive game needs to improve. Once BG develops a better jumper he will be deadly. It would be nice to see BG do this to the Spanish NT this summer. BG destroys Pau Gasol!
