They just flashed up the teams in Group A and Group B and they had the flag of India next to Nigeria!!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

How difficult is it to get the flags right? You can steal them from Wikipedia! This coupled with the North Korean women's football debacle is completely unacceptable!
Russell Westbrook is starting to piss me off. In a team of superstars every player has managed to play a role on this team and Westbrook still thinks he's a superstar. He is looking to shoot everytime he touches the ball and sometimes that means giving no touches to his teammates on the possession. Unless he is at the rim, he should be benched for this crap.

I love how explosive he is and his defensive intensity but if I had to choose a player to take control of the game in isolation on the offensive end, it sure as hell isn't going to be Westbrook!
This USA team is hard to watch at times. IDC how just win baby!

Deron Williams played worst.
As expected these refs are terrible.

I am now converted, LeBron is the best basketball player in the world. I had been a strong advocate of Durant over the past three years but right now it is LeBron. He is playing Center on defense and Point Guard on offense! When LeBron's legacy is written, this will be the prime of his career.
So how much does the US need to lead by before Anthony Davis can see the court? Apparently the magic number is more than 27.
Davis is in! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/agree.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Agree' />
LeBron is the best point guard on the team.

Agreed and I have no complaints about the way that Chris Paul has played. LeBron has just been ridiculously good.

What a dunk by Harden!!
Big win for the US. I didn't realize how ideal this schedule is for them. They start off against a good team that never really stood a chance against them because of the style of play. They then play the two African teams and finish off against the two teams that could be a bit tricky but it should be a low pressure situation at that point.

I cannot wait to watch Davis get more significant minutes against Tunisia and Nigeria.

Yes I thought I posted about this. Group A may be the strongest group but its the easier group for the US. Brazil, Russia, Spain are all in group B. Perfect situation for USA. We can work chemistry in group.
Quote:“We played a very good game against an outstanding team.

“France is so well coached and in (Tony) Parker they have as good a guard as there is in the tournament.

“I thought we did a good job defensively and we shared the ball.

“We assisted on 27 of our 31 buckets and we rebounded the ball very well.

“Overall it was a good first step for us beating an outstanding French team."

I like what caoch K is saying!
Lebron is the best player on this team. He can be dominant even without scoring much. He's creating shots for his teammates, he's playing hard on defense, he's rebounding and he scores when they need him to score. He's the leader on this team in my opinion. Durant also played great yesterday. He scored, played good on defense and rebounded well. I hope he can keep up this level. His shots are falling now and I hope that they will keep falling.

Chandler is doing what is asked from him: playing defense and finish at the rim. But he'll have stay out of foultrouble. That's a problem for team USA. They get to many fouls called against them. Kobe may not have exploded but I find that he's playing good. Kobe isn't scoring much but he's doing his work on defense. I think that as long as the team wins it will not matter to him who's the topscorer on this team. Kevin Love played great in the minutes that he got. I hope that he'll get more minutes, together with Anthony Davis, against Tunesia. I hope that Davis will play a lot against Tunesia because this will be a game for him to show that they can count on him when he would be needed.

Deron Williams didn't play well. He's taking to many bad shots, Coach K needs to talk to him about his shot selection. Chris Paul isn't playing like he's used to play but I think that has to do with the fact that Lebron is playing a lot on the point.

On Westbrook: I love his explosiveness, his athleticism and his defensive intensity but he's becoming more arrogant. I love watching him play together with Durant at OKC but since the Finals I'm getting frustrated with him. Since the Finals he showed some arrogance and I don't like that. He's a great player but he wants to do too many things on the team, it's like he want to be the star on the team. I hope Coach K talks to him about his shot selection, not wanting to be the star and his arrogance.

France didn't play that well. Tony Parker isn't in shape but you can't play him that he couldn't work out because his eye injury. Turiaf played good for France and also Traore played good. Diaw needs to step up his game and the same goes for De Colo and Batum. I expected more from him after following him this year with Valencia. He needs to work on his shot selection and cut down his turnovers.

Gelebale didn't score much but he brought energy off the bench for France. I hope he plays a good tournament and maybe get a deal with a NBA-team. I hope that Seraphin will stay out of foultrouble for France so that he can play more.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. My only comment would be that I'm quite pleased with Chris Paul. Like Kobe, he is a totally different version of himself than we see in the NBA but he is really playing pass first and he has been superb defensively. I would like to see him drive a bit more on offense to create plays but I cannot complain with what he has done.

Gelabale is now 29 and had failed stint with the SuperSonics earlier in his career. He actually started the game against the US but spent most of the time on the bench due to foul trouble. At his age, I think that most NBA teams will pass on him. Sure Prigioni is coming over to the NBA at 35 but Pirgioni has been one of the elite players in Europe for many, many years.

I didn't mean that Chris Paul wasn't playing good I just wanted to say that Chris Paul is playing differently. I'm also pleased with him because he puts the team above himself. I agree with you that he should drive a bit more on offense to create plays but he has done well so far. The same goes for Kobe. They want to win the gold and they change their playingstyle to make the team better and win games. Westbrook should better take an example from them

On Gelebale: he was very unlucky with the injuries that he had. I still think that he could play in the NBA as decent role player of the bench. A guy that hive a team an energy spark of the bench
Unbelievable performance by the US bench. Had they started this game, the US would have won by a whole lot more. The start of the third quarter was some of the best basketball I have ever seen. You think these guys wanted to send a message that they belong?

It was great to finally see Love and Davis get serious playing time. Love ends the game with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Davis goes 100% from the floor with 12 points, 3 rebounds and a block. Coach K needs to consider this going forward.

I also enjoy how the US players are also fans of basketball and intentionally seek out Davis for alley oops.

This team is going to be tough to beat especially now that Coach K should realize he can easily go 12 deep if somebody is having an off night.

You know though that the 100% efficiency doesn't mean anything here. It was all alley-oop dunks. I mean, he didn't create his own shot. Not one time.

Also, as I watched the game, I'm sure he had 2 blocks.
Davies played well. He finished on the alley-oops and stood his man against Mejri. By the way, I rather have Davies dunking the ball on alley-oops than dunking like Mejri did. He dunked the ball between the rim! He's 2.17m and he could't put the ball through the net. Belgians fans of him former team were a little embarrassed because Mejri always said that he would make it to the NBA. He didn't make a good impression.

The USA bench played great. I agree with skangles, if they had started the game they would have beaten Tunesia even with bigger numbers. Paul played well defensively and distributed the ball well. Westbrook played better than the last game I saw. Hopefully he will put the team first and then himself

You hit the nail on the head, this is exactly the point except for your statement that it doesn't mean anything, quite the contrary it means everything.

Davis is helping team USA win by taking high percentage "shots" (if we can call them that). Are his teammates throwing him great passes? Yes. Is he making better runs at the rim than anybody else on the team? Yes. I do not want Davis trying to create his own shot unless the shot clock is about to expire. In fact, if he did try to create his own shot I would fully support Coach K if he buried him on the bench.

It is not about Davis trying to prove his basketball skill, rather it is all about helping Team USA win. If every time Davis puts the ball at the rim it goes in, he is clearly an asset on offense. The more frequent that he can do this from inches away rather than feet away, the more he will help Team USA and the longer he deserves to be on the court.

My point is, that exactly because he can't create his own shot (at least in that level aka Olympics), he won't be able to help USA against teams like Spain, Argentina, Russia etc. They're not Tunisia and their defenses are much tougher.

Davis played in the mid of the 3rd Q till the end. The game was over and there was no defense by neither USA and Tunisia. You definitely can't expect Davis to make so many alley-oops in a close game against an, actually, good team.

Davis ain't ready yet. In order to play in FIBA basketball he needs to put on some weight and being able to shoot and create his shot. He's already a great defender and good passer but he needs more.

I'm not gonna get fooled (and I know you won't either) by his performance in a game against Tunisia. Davis can't help in close games situations. Yet...
