Unlisted Countries are ranked 76th

Couldn't find out who is IRI , ISV and some others <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' /> The bottom part of these rankings does not reflect the real strength of the teams because they play in different continents and some championships are much weaker (like in Asia) like in football.

For more info click here. You will find scoring system there.
my country is out of list - what shame!!!
As I said these rankings does not reflect the strength of the lower teams. Poland should be at least in top 30. By the way did you know that Poland will host European Basketball Championships 2009? So you will get automatic qualification that year.
Yes,I know. And thanks to God for this. Because our national team is very very poor. Probably in our ERA Basket Liga plays too many Americans and our young players can`t play regularly. Our team bases still on old players like Zielinski or Wojcik. We need some new fresh blood and good coach (best from your country).
I understand your situation. I don't know how it is in Poland but here we have a great youth system. The best Lithuanian coaches at the moment are Sireika, Kazlauskas, Butautas and Kemzura.
I think that Lithuania, Croatia and Serbia have the best youth system in Europe. And I don`t understand why our national association and teams don`t want to copy these systems?!!!!! Basket is one of the most popular sports among young Polish folks. We have a good amatour tournaments. Many young folks practise basket but our teams and our f....ing national association destroy it.
Vilius, you forgot Kurtinaitis he is a good coach too <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> it's great that Poland is near and lithuanians could easily go there and support their national team <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

These rankings do seem nonsense because we (Scotland) beat India, South Africa and Mozambique last year and we are not on there..
I agree that it does not show real strength of lower teams. I think Scotland is not on the list because you have Great Britain national team now. You should mail FIBA for explanation <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Portugal is now better than Sweden, wow <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />
Bit odd... Greeece are reigning European champion (until this summer) and runner up in the world champs and are 6th?? Diodn't they also finish 4th in the Olympics?

Spain 3rd... well, 4th in the EWuropeans and 7th in the Olympics might explain that being World Champions we are not top

Russia 18th, Croatia 19th. These two have always been superpowers. It shows there are several good countries in this sport. Israel, 23rd, probably closes the elite group
I think Greece were knocked out by Olympic Winners Argentina in the Quarter Finals in Olympics. But still they ought to be higher.
Greece can't be higher because they didn't win any titles in this period which is calculated until Eurobasket 2005. I can't remember which place they were in before Eurobasket. They got many points because of it and WC.
Lithuania will probably be going down some more, since they haven't done well in major competitions for some time, now.

Quite disappointing, I'd say.
after this year we could expect Spain to move even higher in the ranks, they will do everything possible to gather the best team for EC2007, besides they are playing at home. There is a possibility for Greece to get higher as well as Lithuania is kinda in transitional state - new coach, no commitment to play for NT from senior players, so we could see entirely new team.

But overall these rankings mean nothing. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
