Å iauliai were totally outplayed by Joventut in the second half. Instead playing as a team players were just standing and slowly passing the ball around until some player tries a difficult shot. No wonder they missed lots of them. Joventut are obviously a stronger team but Å iauliai could fight with them. The second half was one-sided. Å iauliai scored only 3 points in the 3rd quarter! And those points were free-throws in the last minute. Å iauliai could have gone throught but Bosna won by 15 and that left Å iauliai outside next round.
Congratulations to our rivals Be?ikta?, they finished the group stages with a record (10-0)...
Too bad Siauliai are out. Perhaps the way they played against Joventut did not deserve them a place in the next round. The most interesting stage starts now.

Is that nightmare over for them now?

Yes, the group stage is over. They finished bottom of the group and will not go to the next round.
Artland Dragons Quakenbrück surprisingly managed to go through, narrowly beating Kiev. Quite a surprise for me. Cologne is through too, but it remains to be seen whether or not the club will play in the knockout stages, as they have big financial problems and face bankruptcy. It would be quite ironic if the best German team in European basketball over the last couple of years went out of the competition. As for ALBA Berlin, they have been a huge disappointment again. Taking under consideration the budget (about 7mio Euros), the coach (Luka Pavicevic) and the players (Nikolic, Femerling, Dojcin, Dijon Thompson, Julius Jenkins) they have, one has to conclude that they are underachieving. For consecutive years now. Frankfurt going winless was no surprise. In case you've not heard about it: The club's got a 0-23 record in as many games in Europe. The last win was in the Euroleague 4 years ago. But they still get a wild card. Ludwigsburg was no surprise too, they're even struggling in domestic competition.

To conclude, I have to admit what is already well known and what I was saying before the season started: Germany doesn't deserve all those ULEB-Cup slots.

Saw Siauliai against Badalona today. Nothing we didn't already know, there are worlds between those two teams. Badalona far superior individually, especially in the open court there is was no stopping them.

That isn't surprising.

Oh well nice to see they had the lead at half time <!-- s:thup: --><!-- s:thup: -->
What a shame to end a season like that. If Å iauliai want to go any further next year they must find money and sign better players. Otherwise we will see the same again.
