Spain beat Portugal 84-35. Portugal didn't even see them coming I'm sure... Unexpected dismal result, also considering the good campaign Portugal had in Eurobasket. Portugal NT coach Moncho López (a Spaniard for that matter) has a lot of hard work to do it seems...
Was it Portugal's main team? When did they start training?

Yes it was the main team. They started training about 1 month ago.
Russia 86:64 Portugal

Russia: Fridzon 15, Morgunov 10, Kirilenko 7.
Spain 91:56 Russia

Spain: Gasol 16, Reyes 15, Mumbru 12, Fernandez 11, Rodriguez 10.
Russia: Kirilenko 18, Holden 11, Fridzon 9.

Spain is crushing its opponents just like in every preparation tournament.
Lithuania 90:61 Portugal (19:8, 21:23, 22:21, 28:9)

Linas Kleiza had 24 and Rimantas Kaukenas scored 18 for Lithuania.

We played very bad for the first three quarters. Lots of missed shots slow defense and offense. Only in the final quarter we saw the team play their game. One of the reasons for such performance is heavy training. Our coaches always do that and that's why Lithuania play way belowe their abilities in friendly games. I hope the team will be much fresher against Argentina and Spain.
Spain 90 Argentina 88

Thrilling final moments and Argentina came from way back.

PS: Through the Argentinian broadcast one could actually perfectly hear the players and the referees talking! Had never seen anything like that, it was fun Biggrin

Boxscore
Spain 91:66 Lithuania (22:20, 29:22, 20:13, 20:11)

Spain: Rudy Fernandez 16, Felipe Reyes 16, Juan Carlos Navarro 14, Marc Gasol 11, Pau Gasol 8, Ricky Rubio 8.
Lithuania: Mindaugas Lukauskis 15, Šarūnas Jasikevičius 12, Marijonas Petravi?ius 8, Robertas Javtokas 8.

I returned home late yesterday and only saw last 5 minutes of the game. So it's difficult to make any comments. As the score suggests the game was quite close in the first half but then Lithuania collapsed against Spanish defence.

I expected Spain to win by 10-15 anyway. They are always very strong in friendly games and we always have poor results. But Lithuania reach the best form when the real competition starts so even though it isn't very pleasant to watch such games but we know that we will see a different team in Beijing.
USA 120:65 Canada

USA: Michael Redd 20, Carmelo Anthony 20, Dwyane Wade 20, Kobe Bryant 15, Deron Williams 14, Chris Paul 11.
Canada: Jermaine Anderson 18, Carl English 11, Rowan Barrett 11.

Lithuania 94:75 Argentina (33:14, 23:12, 17:21, 21:28)

Lithuania: Marius Prekevičius 14, Simas Jasaitis 14, Rimantas Kaukėnas 13, Kšištof Lavrinovič 12.
Argentina: Carlos Delfino 16, Paolo Quinteros 13, Luis Scola 12, Emanuel Ginobili 10, Pablo Prigioni 10.

The score at the half time was 56:26 for Lithuania. Argentina couldn't do anything. Lithuania head coach wasn't experimenting too much that's why all his subs were in time and didn't make the game go loose. Argentineans got nervous and angry. Nocioni collected two unsportsmanlike fouls in just a few minutes. Prigionig kicked the ball to the fans but wasn't punished at all.

In the second half Argentina made their defense more intense. Our coach started experimenting as we still have 14 players on the roster so 2 of them will be cut from the final squad. All this led to the gap geting smaller. In the last quarter Argentina hit many open three pointers but the game was in Lithuania hands and we didn't let it go.

We played without 3 final squad players - Ramunas Siskauskas, Linas Kleiza and Darius Songaila.
Spain 87:62 Argentina

Spain: Rudy Fernandez (3), Jose Manuel Calderon (15), Felipe Reyes (7), Marc Gasol (4), Alex Mumbrú (2), Pau Gasol (5), Ricky Rubio (11), Juan Carlos Navarro (16), Carlos Jimenez (4), Raul Lopez (5), Berni Rodriguez (11), Jorge Garbajosa (4).

Argentina: Luis Scola (7), Fabrizio Oberto (3), Pablo Prigioni (7), Carlos Delfino (15), Andres Nocioni (12), Emanuel Ginobili ( 5), Roman Gonzalez (-), Antonio Porta (-), Paolo Quinteros (10), Leonardo Gutierrez (3), Pedro Juan Gutierrez (-) and Federico Kammerichs (-).
Lithuania 90:62 Finland (17:15, 13:19, 37:6, 25:22)

Lithuania: Sarunas Jasikevicius 13 (7 assists), Rimantas Kaukenas 12, Jonas Maciulis 12, Robertas Javtokas 11, Marijonas Petravicius 10, Ramunas Siskauskas 10, Ksystof Lavrinovic 8, Darjus Lavrinovic 6, Simas Jasaitis 5, Mindaugas Lukauskis 3.
Finland: Mikko Koivisto 17, Petri Virtanen 11, Tuukka Kotti 10, Hanno Mottola 8, Kimmo Muurinen 6, Shawn Huff 6, Sami Lehtoranta 4.

The team returned from Spain only last night after the whole day on bus and plane. That was clearly visible in the first part of the game. Players looked tired and accuracy was poor. The 3rd quarter was very good for Lithuania. The team looked fresh on both offense and defense. Overall it was an acceptable performance.
Spain 103 Hungary 45

Pau Gasol 32 pts + 11 rebs. Nemeth was the top scorer for the Hungarians with 12 pts.
