First elite division game ended up catastrophe for guest team Tartu Rock. Siualiai destroyed Rock 68:89. Saulius Kuzminskas was best scorer with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Gediminas Maceina added 17 points. Rock best performer was Tanoka Beard with 17 points and 6 rebounds, George Tsintsadze added 15 points and 8 assists but suffered 7 turnovers.

Nice win for Siauliai and a disappointing result for Estonian champs. Do you think that Rock could make it to the Final Four this year?
Game in Kaunas between host Žalgiris and visitors Kalev/Cramo ended up with Žalgiris winning the game 78:74. Žalgiris took early 6:0 led but lost first quarter 15:24. Žalgiris narrowed the gap 34:38 before going into a break. Kalev started strongly in second half with baskets from Linehan, Kangur and Keerles and pushed the gap into 13 point(34:47). Žalgiris leveled the score and end of the 3rd quarter score was 51:56. Kalev leaded the game 64:52 when Žalgiris started THE SPURT. Game was even 74:74 but Žalgiris took the victory to make 3952 spectators happy. Willie Deane ruled the floor with 21 points, Paulius Jankunas scored 20 points and took 7 rebound. Kalev top scorer was Gregor Arbet with 15 points(5/7 3pts)

Ventspils in the stressful end of the game outscored Barons/LMT and got their first win this season in the SEB Baltic Basketball League Elite Division 65:61. Ventspils won the first quarter 24:17. In the beginning of the second quarter teams could not score for almost 3 minutes. Then both teams scored equally, however at the end of the quarter Ventspils played a little bit better and Umbrasko finished the first half of the game with a jump shot. Ventspils was leading the game with the result 35:25. Cukinas and Umbrasko exchanged three-pointers at the beginning of the second half of the game. Then Jurevicus and Gustas did the same, however Henning realizedtwo free-throws for the Barons and it was 41:33 for Ventspils. In the final quarter Barons with the team effort came as close as 58:56 and then even managed to make it 60:59 in the favour of Ventspils as Gustas realized a three-pointer. However in the stressful end of the game Zakis, Brazelton and this evening’s hero Umbrasko proved that Ventspils was better in this game and could celebrate a victory 65:61.

I think that Rock have solid chance to make into the top 4. Beard and Sanikidze should make the team only stronger. But we had only 2 workouts before game against Siauliai and lot of important games are coming, so we dont have much time to learn to play as a team again or learn from our mistakes and if we look the competition to places 3-8 in BBL every victory is necessary..so only time tells us. Things can go wrong but im very confident
Valmiera lost to Rytas in an equal game. The result was 98:92 in favor of Rytas.

In the first quarter of the game Petravicius ensured a lead for Rytas, however then Clark and Bankevics answered and the result were 5:2 Valmiera in front. Further on Rytas scored five points without Valmiera’s answer and already 7:5 Rytas leading the game. Then Clark scored 4 points in a row, Bankevics added one free-throw and 10:7 for Valmiera. Further on the game was equal and at one moment result was 13:13 and then after some minutes equal again 17:17 and 19:19. The first quarter ended with the result 22:20 Valmiera in front. In the next ten minutes nothing changed on the field as there continued to be equal game where both teams exchanged points. None of the teams were able to get significant lead, additionally leaders changed from time to time. After the first half of the game the luck was on the side of Valmiera as they managed to get the lead 44:43. In the second half of the game none of the teams got a significant lead and it went on very equally. Only at the end of the game Lietuvos Rytas showed their potential and character and kept Valmiera behind – 98:92 a tough win for Rytas.

ASK Riga defeated Nevezis with the result 76:66

Dabkus was the one who got the lead for Nevezis at the start of the game. With the effort of Kalve and Marsh ASK Riga was able to take over the lead 7:2 for the ASK. First quarter ended with the result 19:13 ASK in front. After Milutin lay-up at the beginning of the second quarter, Nevezis made a run 7:0 as Sakalauskas and Veikalas scored three-pointers and Leonavicius added free-throw. Result was 21:20 ASK still in front. Quarter ended 36:35 to ASK. hen almost two minutes were played in the third quarter, Silinskis scored first points and lead Nevezis in front. Then again both teams exchanged few points and result was 39:39.Then it continued to be an equal game again and the third quarter finished with the result 55:53 ASK leading the game.6 points run at the beginning of the last quarter of the game was ensured by ASK. This was the final run of the game and it was enough for ASK to win the whole match with the result 76:66.

Ventspils secured a victory against team Kalev/Cramo 71:69

When two and a half minutes was left still to play in the first quarter, it was equal again 15:15. Then Kalev made a run of 6:0 by Kriisa and Pace. Therefore Kalev finished this quarter with a lead 21:15.

At the beginning of the second quarter Strelnieks realized a three-pointer, Veselovs added two free-throws, Strelnieks scored a jump-shot, Vairogs and Tsiakos both made one free-throw out of two and Ventspils made a run of 9:0 leading the game with the result 24:21. Then Linehen took the leading of the team in his hands and made 5 points for Kalev. First half of the game finished with a minimal lead of team Ventspils 31:30. Score was 51:50 before the final ten minutes of play.

Sokk with two free-throws got the lead for Kalev. Then Umbrasko and Zakis answered with three-pointers – 57:52 Ventspils ahead. Kalev decreased Ventspils lead till 59:56. Then Zakis realized a jump-shot with a foul. Kalev took a time out but after that Zakis missed the free-throw. Further on Strelnieks realized both free-throws but Pace was successful only once from the free-throw line. Then again this evening’s top scorer Zakis realized a jump shot and got his 20th point in the game. On the other side of the field Kangur realized both free-throws and made it 65:59. Afterwards Jurevicus and Linehan exchanged two free-throws and the result was 67:61 for Ventspils. In an emotional end of the game Ventspils hold the victory with the result 71:69

Barons/LMT beat Siauliai in Arena Riga with the result 87:71

It was equal game to 7:7 then with the help of Skele, Gustas, Berzins and Bright Barons organized 9:0 run and led the game 16:7.The result after the first ten minutes was 20:14 in Barons favour.

Three-pointer from Kravcenko side made it 23:14 for Barons at the beginning of the second quarter. After two and a half minutes of play Adomaitis with a free-throw organized a Barons lead 28:16.Then Maceina answered with a lay-up. For quite a long time none of the teams could score. Only after the commercial time-out Kadziulis finally scored 1 point for Siauliai from the free-throw line. Alexander and Skele quickly realized 2 jump-shots and already 32:19 in Barons favour. Further on Kadziulis scored two three-pointers and reduced Barons lead till 32:25. Till the end of the quarter Barons again managed to increase their lead 38:29.Result of the game after three quarters was 66:50 in favour of Barons/LMT.

In the final quarter of the game nothing intriguing happened. Game went on equally as it was 71:56 after two minutes played in the final quarter. The biggest lead Barons gained was 22 points 83:61. Barons celebrated victory with the result 87:71.

Barons/LMT: Alexander 22, Skele, Gustas 14

Siauliai: Praskevicius 23, Kadziulis 14
First home game to Tartu Rock ended with win 79:66 against Lietuvos Rytas.

Rock was behind 6:9 when basket of Janar Talts started the spurt that put the home team to a lead 15:11. Rock won the first quarter 19:15. Asko Paade realized two-pointer and added a three-pointer and Rock leaded 24:15. First half ended 39:30 Tartu in lead. Georgi Tsintsadze and Janar Talts scored and when Asko Paade added three-pointer the score was 57:36. 3rd quarter ended 63:44 in favor of Tartu Rock. In 4rd quarter Rytas tried to save the game with full court pressure but it didn't work and score was still +20 to Tartu, end of the game was just a formality.

Tanoka Beard leaded Tartu with 17 points and 12 rebounds, George Tsintsadze added 15 points and 5 assist.

Branko Milisavljevic scored 14 points for Rytas

Indeed. So far favourites are looking for their form. Zalgiris players were not paid their wages. They even wanted to stay at home and don't travel to Latvia.
