Quote:FRA – Vintage Sciarra takes top marks in All-Star Game

PARIS (Pro A) - Laurent Sciarra rolled back the years over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday with an MVP performance in the seventh edition of the French Pro A All-Star Game at Bercy.

Veteran point guard Sciarra, a member of France's silver-medal winning side at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, had 25 points, including a perfect six-of-six showing from long range, along with nine assists and seven rebounds.

However Sciarra’s side, which was made up of French players, lost to the team of foreigners 108-101.

Quote:The year is still young but Antoine Eito from ASVEL in France hits already a shot that looks like it's Christmas time again. We don't know if the young French guard plays Beach Volleyball during his summer vacations but added to his look, he shows now that he also has the feel. (found via basketsession.com)

Le Mans signed Bobby Dixon.
Villeurbane signed 35 year old Serbian-Montenegrin forward Nebojsa Bogavac.
Pau-Orhtez announced the release of Iranian forward Sammad Nikkhah and the signing of French player Alain Digbeu. Nikkhah, arrived last autumn, did not find space in the rotation of French team despite two great peformances against Hyeres-Toulon (19 points) and ASVEL (16) asked the club to be released and go back to his former club Elan, in Iran.

Quote:The 2 teams clinched a position in the French league's final series after beating Le Mans and Nancy respectivelly. The first game of the finals will be held the 20th of June in Lyon.

Orleans started the game poorly and after having a really bad 2nd quarter where they scored mere 6 points while cashing in 12, they were behind at halftime 23-28. Twenty eight points in 20' minutes though for Le Mans was no great performance either so there was much room for improvement in the 2nd half. And so it happened for both teams, yet Orleans was marginally better and won the game 66-60, advancing to the finals.

Brian Greene had 14 points, to be followed by Adrien Moerman with 13 and Anthony Dobbins with 11 for the winners. Bobby Dixon's 21 and Dewarick Spencer's 15 points were not enough for the guests.

In the other semifinal everything was looking good for Nancy up untill the end of the 3rd quarter where they were up by 9. It is dificult however to win such a game by scoring just 4 (!!) points in the final quarter. Lyon-Villeurbanne took advantage of that and won the game 62-56.

For Lyon-Villeurbanne, Jeanneau, Traore and Campbell had 10 each while for the visiting team Jeff Greer scored 14, Lamayn Wilson 13 and Akin Akingbala 10.
ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne new French Champions!

Quote:In the single final game of the French League which took place in Paris, in the Palais Omnisports Paris-Bercy arena, by beating their opponents Orleans 55-41, rather easily.

ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne are back at the throne of the French basketball for the first time since the 2001/02 season. This was their 17th total championship since the club's creation in 1948.

The club which is owned by the French NBA star Tony Parker has earned a spot in next Eurolegue's groups with this title, something which means that the Euroleague wild card is now up for grabs again.

For the history, Amara Sy was the MVP of the Final game.
