In this season was created new league BBL(Balkan League Basketball).Teams from Romania,Serbia,FYROM and Bulgaria was been participated in this season. But in next season it will be expansion. This is the result of an appeal from several basketball federations in Balkans. One expansion was already planned for season 2009/2010, from 10 to 12 teams. Now it seems that the league will be expanded to additional 2 teams making the total number of participants of 14. The Board of Directors cannot at this time confirm who will participate in the next years league. But they have confirmed that the reason for yet another expansion was an increasing interest from teams in Balkans for participation. So far the participation in next year BIBL League was confirmed by Vojvodina Novi Sad as representative of Serbia, and BC Mornar Bar and BC Lovcen Cetinje as representatives from Montenegro. Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by Sloboda-Dita from Tuzla. Last confirmed was a new entry by BC Timisoara from Romania.

What was also confirmed was that the formula for entry into the league will not be changed. This means that the BIBL founding Federations (FYROM, Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania) will each give two participants, while this year Montenegro will also have 2 participants. With one team from Bosnia and Herzegovina and most likely one team from Israel, the total number of teams will be 12. Additional two places may be handed out as wild-cards to previous finalists of this competition. This would mean that BC Rabotnicki Fersped and BC Rilski Sportist as a winner would gain access. Still the final confirmation will be verified at the next Board meeting of the League.
The Israeli league confirmed that next year will be one Israeli team in the BBL. the main contender's are Hapoel Holon (last year champion) or Bnei Hasharon (one of Israel Elite team's in the last couple of years that surprisingly didn't qualify to the Israeli final-four, and next year won't participate in the Eurocup).

For another year the Eurohold Balkan league trophy will stay in Bulgaria. After Rilski Sportist won the first edition of the tournament in 2009 today another Bulgarian team went to the top. The host of Final Four Levski defeated Lovcen 65-77 and won the trophy in front of its home fans. This is the second tournament won by the team this season after the Cup of Bulgaria one month ago.
Quote:BIBL expands to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Balkan League is expected to have one more participant next season. Reportedly, BIBL is expected to include Bosnia and Herzegovina next season as the deal has been reached with BC Zrinjski. Now for the next season, it seems that BC Zrinjski will be the first club from Bosnia and Herzegovina who will take participation in the Balkan league. They are the second club to join BIBL as previously similar deal has been reached with Svijetlost from Croatia. According to Zrinjski Sports Director Boris Dzidic, this is a great opportunity for Zrinjski to get European exposure. .

Last season, BIBL had 11 teams participating and they were split in two groups. Now with more clubs joining in, it is expected that the format of the competition will change somewhat. Still it remains to be seen how it will look for the upcoming 2010/2011 season.
