I think that Alba is a good choice.

They have 11,000 fans every game with a great hall, so they R the best candidate to the wild-card.

As the "elmination" system: It won't be 5th Spanish team, no 4th Franch team and no 4th Italian or Greece teams.

Russia in a big finansic trouble, so Alba left as the best option.
And there it is, wildcard for the qualification round goes to ALBA.

Two groups of average EuroCup level, if you ask me.
When and where this can be legitimate?And what about conflikt between EL and ACB?

Well, as I understand, the system has yet to be approved by the whole Euroleague assembly. Shareholders Executive Board cannot approve it alone. Unless it already has been approved in winter, which the confusion is all about.

Sorry mate, I definitely feel bad for Serbia. From a sports standpoint, 2nd Serbian team would have been good.

By the way, my bad, it won't be groups, but probably knockout rounds.
As I know EL assembly have 33 members.And 26 vote (more then 80%) is need for this verdict.Does Bartomeu has 26 vote?And I`m not sure that would be easy because ACB have no meaning if 4 clubs from Spain have A licence.

PS: 2nd Serbian team (Hemofarm or Red Star) in this qualification round can be on first or second position..
I think it is 2 knockout elimination rounds

1st round: 4 knocked out

2nd round: 2 knocked out and we have the 2 participants. How will those rounds be though? Home and away games? Series best of 3? Or a short tournament on neutral ground like the EC final 8?

The ACB claim that the decision was reached without having the necessary 80%. So allegedly Bertomeu did not get 26 votes for this system

I Think it will be home and away games, with the best gap will advance. (like the Euro-Cup).

But I wander: Are the losers will play in the Euro-cup?

Yes, they will.

Which is correct, since he got only 23 out of 30 votes in the February meeting. That's less than 80%.
Febrruary meeting was like today Euroleague Commercial Assets Shareholders Board.As I know only EL assembly or ULEB assembly make decision about EL competition sistem.

As far as I know, back then they had a full assembly, as all but two clubs, several leagues plus ULEB as an organisation were all in attendance and had the right to vote. The Shareholders Executive Boards is much smaller, thirteen parties, in fact these:

* President, Jordi Bertomeu, Euroleague Basketball CEO

* Asseco Prokom Sopot

* CSKA Moscow

* Efes Pilsen

* Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv

* Montepaschi Siena

* Olympiacos Piraeus

* Real Madrid

* Tau Ceramica

* ABA (Adriatic League)

* BBL (Germany)

* LEGA (Italy)

* LNB (France).

It wasn't formed before February. Don't ask we me why these, but that's what they made official: http://www.euroleague.net/news/i/44611/180/item

To my understanding, it was a full assembly back then, but the system wasn't approved because votes didn't cross the 80%-border [23/30 = 76.666 ...]

As I was told, Bertomeu had invited everyone saying it was an informal meeting, then surprised everyone by making a "formal" voting. Nobody had expected that, and of course due to this fact, there had been no communication before the meeting between those that were or might have been against it.
Ye,you right about Shareholders Executive Boards.

But in this text http://www.euroleague.net/news/i/44611/180/item you can not find the word assembly <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> They say "Euroleague clubs and representatives of national leagues".

So I mean that Bartoumeu must have 26 vote of 33.Can be only 26 people on the meeting but than all 26 must vote for preposal.In every kind of assembly (parlament or something else) always is need plurality of votes of all members.

That's true. But maybe they didn't want to use the word "assembly" in their press release. They didn't even write that the system had not been approved [if the 80% rule is correct]. They just wrote that 23 of 30 had voted a "yes", and that's it. I think it might be part of the press war against ACB and others.

Okay. But I assume that for the next meeting, everyone will be in attendance, as probably everyone has an interest. I would assume it is obligatory anyway, not sure why two clubs had been absent from the February meeting.
22. Red Star Belgrade

Red Star won't be playing in Euroleague.

Red Star has the Euroleague place. The only way they don't is if Euroleague lied about the placings. The Euroleague placings put Red Star in the Euroleague.

OK, you made a mistake in your first post, you got corrected, get over it, admit it and move on.

Don't try to be a smartass about it and blame Euroleague.

Red Star will not play in Euroleague. End of story whether you like it or not.

And the Euroleague places in the new system clearly give Red Star a Euroleague place. You need to actually look at the placing before you talk trash like that.

The Serbian 2nd place gets a spot in the new system and it is the last spot right now, the 30th spot based on how the season unfolded, and that means Red Star has a spot. On top of that the wild card spot goes to the top points Adriatic team which is also Red Star. Finally grow the hell up and start acting like a mature adult.

WRONG. Second place team from Serbia gets a place, which is Red Star. Also, in the points system Red Star and Hemofarm would have the decision between the wild card spot from Adriatic League. I guess you guys need to pay a little more attention.

HEMOFARM and/or RED STAR have a spot in the Euroleague as it stands right now. I am right and you are wrong.
Priceless....

@robbe

I have some more questions <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Do you know who was against Bertomeu in the Euroleague Basketball Assembly on July 7,2008 in Berlin?

A read something on the site Ball in Europe (from 29.09.2008) http://www.ballineurope.com/european-baske...oleague-part-2/

This is very interested part:

"The Euroleague General Assembly has 34 members; these 34 members are the 24 teams playing in the Euroleague, the nine leagues that they represent, and the president of the Euroleague. However, the president has no voting rights, so only 33 votes are possible. So the result published by the Euroleague with 25 votes in favor, 5 blanks and 3 nays is correct."

And who now maybe change his mind?

And what would Eduardo Portela do if this proposal be legitimate? (becuse he is decidedly against Bertomeu)

Any time you want to start acting like a mod and an adult. DO IT. Otherwise tell me how I can ignore you so I don't have to ever read your childish remarks.
Keep in mind that the ACB director is in charge of ULEB.
